SIlly Movie, Great Concept

In every super-hero universe you have the also-rans, the heroes with silly powers that you're never sure how they made it onto the team roster. This is the story of one such person.

This is not a fast-paced movie, and that works. A writer is looking at Squid Man's life, and the exploration of that allows exploration of the universe. It's sort of fun to look at it through the lens of a third-string hero, and this does not disappoint.

The acting is on point, and there is some excellent casting, and it asks all of the right question while making the right points. If you're looking for a movie that explores the super-hero genre and want to have some fun doing it, this is it.

Surprisingly watchable little movie

It's not a masterpiece, but there were a many funny moments and little surprises, that kept it interesting. The premise is cute, and the acting is excellent. There's something charming about having such realistic dialogue and well-developed characters in a film with such a silly premise.

I rate it about 6.5.

it could easily fit into the Marvel Universe.

Most of my reviews are negative because I dislike saying 'me too' about the films that I like. But I liked Squid Man, it is cheap, it is ridiculous, but it is also well written, well acted, and well photographed. If it had the budget of a Marvel movie it could easily fit into the Marvel Universe. Marvel has it's share of third rate heroes/villains. (Venom, Starlord) that make for good stories when handled well. Squid Man is well done and I recommend this film.

Positive reviews are boring, so please forgive me for my negative reviews elsewhere. Positive reviews are boring, so please forgive me for my negative reviews elsewhere.

A good movie.

A good movie.

Enter squid man a down and out superhero who is kicked out of his brand of other heroes and crashes on his friends couch until he gets on his feet and his life back again.

Squid man gets eerie jobs and springs into mild bad situations a few fist fights and fights with words not to minor nor big of a deal but all still good to squid man.

Squid man sees his future not to fully nor in depth but it is there in front of him then follows through with life as it is before him.

This movie is pretty good as long as you give it a watch you''ll be fine :)

The casting is perfect through beginning to end

7 out of 10 is the most accurate score i can give it now.

Surprising depth in a goofy premise

This movie is slow-paced so I kept thinking "man, nothing really happening here; I'll just switch it off" but somehow I always wanted to see what happened next. The story is decent enough, the premise is goofy but embraced whole-heartedly, and there's almost zero action going on. So why keep watching?

The acting. And the characters. Absolutely solid acting from Andrew Roth, Laurel Schroeder, Eric Bryant and Chad Eric Smith. And the characters they get to inhabit, especially Roth as Squid Man, are the exact opposite of most superhero movies: they have depth.

I can't get all my thoughts together on this one just yet (I finished watching it less than 10 minutes ago), but it is right up there with 1997's Spaceman and 2001's The American Astronaut as far I'm concerned: low budget doesn't have to mean poorly made or cheap or camp. It just means you do more with what you have. In this one, director Charlie Cline, his production crew (the sound and cinematography are excellent) and his cast absolutely nailed it.

I know I will watch this movie again.
