I saw it as one of powerful anti - American films , reflecting, in some measure, the image of United States for many Europeans , especially after 9/11.
A young French student, from Bordeaux, travells in US for studies. He is an anxious person, addicted by his parents and by medication against anxiety. His passport becomes suspect because his country does not exist. A map in which Italy and Germany are owners of present French teritory .
But the mistake of an agent opens the dark perspective about the measure of American autorities.
It can be perceived as an ironic portrait of United States. Like a dystopy. Like a bitter dark comedy. Each version works , grace for the doors and the ettiquette on them.
