"Nido to Mezamenu Komori Uta", also called "Lullaby to the Big Sleep", is a short, experimental anime film directed in 1985 by Hiroshi Harada. This short film runs for 27 minutes.
Basic plot: This film is a take on child bullying and national violence, as well as the environmental pollution problem. A Japanese boy is bullied by some other boys, many times for his protruding teeth. On the other side, several people are violently protesting against the construction of an airport called Narita Airport.
Director Hiroshi Harada used amazing three years to draw this picture alone, and completed this work when he was 20 year old. This film was shot on 8mm. During the time, this film was even shown on several film festivals, including Turin International Film Festival in 1986 and Berlin International Film Festival in 1987. Even movie director Ishii Sougo loved this film and recommended it.
Ishii Sougo isn't alone with this, even I honestly loved this film. The animation style in this film is very different from most other anime movies/OVAs made during the 1980s. From the first minute with an English female voice and a close up of a bleeding doll face, I got immediately interested and sat throughout this film as "glued to the PC screen". Really, this hard-to-find film deserves a home video release.
An another notable work also done by Hiroshi Harada alone is the controversial film "Midori" from 1992.
