I'm surprised to see that it's only got 5/10 so far in ratings. I'm a relatively picky viewer, easily losing interest after the first episode of a show isn't able to grab me. This one did! Part of me wonders if it would hold much interest for the average male viewer, though-- despite the climate of warfare and the homegrown Canadian backdrop, the show focuses on the ladies and their lives, and I can't imagine my boyfriend watching/enjoying it.
I agree with the previous posts about the stellar acting, and don't have much to add in that respect. At the end of the day--- I'll be following it obsessively. ;)

Fantastic mini-series and knowing it's "made in Canada" tips it over the top! So many incredible scenes, so many incredible stories. Acting, storyline and wardrobe are amazing. Lorna brings sensitivity and passion back to the TV screen. You feel her desire for Marco when he touches her. Wow what a show! The writers and directors put together a wonderful experience for us to enjoy and learn from. Can't wait for more! In fact, I'm already planning a "Bomb Girls" theme party for next season's premiere; cocktails, dresses, handsome men in suits or uniforms. May even serve SPAM like hors d'oeuvre on silver plates.
P.S. Where can I get some blue head dress scarves?
Congrats!

Why are so many great shows cancelled?
This show is Canadian, educational, well-written and extremely entertaining. It's a realistic depiction (without getting too gritty) of life during WWII in the Greater Toronto Area. With the able-bodied men away at war, the women work hard in a rather dangerous factory making bombs (hence the name) and lend a hand to the war effort.
The show has many interesting female characters and focuses not only on their work life but their lives outside of the factory as well. The wardrobe is fantastic, the set decoration is very authentic and best of all the show doesn't pretend to take place in the States.
I really hope it is saved and picked up for a third season.

This show keeps getting better and better every week. It's a shame that it's almost over.
What I like most about this show (in addition to the amazing acting by Tilly and Belfour) is how it clearly depicts Canadian history so accurately, right down to how people spoke and how everyone behaved, while still keeping the audience highly entertained. There's so much detail that goes into society, status, race, morals, etc in every single episode. My favorite scene so far was with Marco and Lorna and the spaghetti...really great (how Italian culture was still quite foreign to this Canadian woman - how often do we get to see that on American television?).
You can tell the producers put a lot of thought into casting and they really had a great script to work with. It's simply a stunning show - and really quite surprising for me, considering a lot of Canadian content lacks that spark to pull you in. This show has spark - and then some!!!

MEG TILLY CAN ACT! She's always nailed the ditsy parts but it has been ages since we've seen her skills really stretched into a strong well- rounded role.
As shift matron and a mother of two sons serving overseas, Ms Tilly brings a quiet mature strength that creates depth to her character. There are two incredible scenes in episode 1 where the emotions flutter cross her face and then shine through her eye.
The ensemble cast are together and individually equally strong. Whether it is the gruff factory owner, the girls living in the rooming house or the young scared soldiers --the characters are multi-dimensional and well played.
The production is grounded by a great script that hits all the right notes. Can't wait to see the rest!
