Eternal - Odissera negli abissi

I have scoured all over the internet for a way to watch this movie with English subtitles, to no avail.

For every source to watch this film, there is everything BUT English subtitles for it.

No wonder why this movie is so deeply buried in the annals of the entertainment industry. Barely anyone has the means to discern what transpires.

They should have made this more accessible for audiences they were trying to reach.

By the way, never mess with a man or woman's best friend in the beginning of your film. That's just wrong.

On the surface, the plot sounds great.

I could see so many political aspects of a similar crisis play out. I could see a wide variety of both science and science fiction elements that eould have been spellbinding to see incorporated into this story.

I have no clue what the writer/director wanted to to say or, said for that matter. This is the most terrible, equally pretentious and pointless film I have ever seen. And I saw the new Joker film!

It's like if the authors of daytime soapdramas like Bold and the Beautiful made an environmental sci-fi movie. Imagine the complete lack of any scientific realism, and the addition of an excessive amount of pointless conversation about feelings the viewer cares nothing about, because the movie doesn't get us invested in the characters.

The first 20 minutes of the film offer a familiar coming-of-age drama that many can relate to from their own relationships. However, what feels distracting is the unnecessary nudity of Anna Søgaard Frandsen, which doesn't add anything to the plot and could have been handled more subtly. It's not until 24 minutes in that the film slowly picks up pace when Elias goes to sea. It quickly becomes clear that the initial relationship drama will be revisited later on. Throughout the film, Elias and Anita pursue their careers separately-him as a researcher, and her as a successful singer. However, when Elias sees Anita and her family at a concert and meets Lucas, Anita's 15-year-old son, he begins to question whether Anita had an abortion as she once promised Elias during their previous relationship. Now, Elias wants to meet his 15-year-old son, but whether Anita and her new husband will allow that remains uncertain.

It's a slightly slow-paced film with good visuals and modern computer effects. However, in the end, it didn't truly captivate or convince me, which is why I'm giving it 5/10.
