They Should have made this film with Tier 2 actors

This film is not exactly a frame-by-frame remake, but you can definitely spot its inspiration from the movie "Breakdown". However, the makers have spiced things up with a few fresh elements and a few unexpected plot twists, making it an engaging yet lengthy watch.

The storytelling is slow paced but thanks to an intriguing screenplay that keeps you hooked. Unlike the usual Star studded commercial entertainers loaded with formulaic sequences and dance numbers, this film dares to be different.

Now, let's talk about Ajith - the man of the hour! He appears in four distinct looks across different timelines, and except for the black-bearded one (which is debatable), he looks effortlessly stylish and dashing. His performance? One of his career-best! He nails the emotional scenes, dominates the action sequences, and is absolutely charming in the romantic portions.

Trisha, on the other hand, is a vision of beauty, especially in the flashback sequences. Her acting is subtle, natural, and simply top-notch. Together, Ajith and Trisha exude an international charm, making them look like stars straight out of a Hollywood film.

Antagonists Arjun and Regina deliver solid performances, adding more depth to the story. The rest of the cast does a commendable job too.

Coming to the technical aspects - the cinematography is stunning, with world-class color grading that enhances the visuals. The locations are breathtaking, making every frame a treat for the eyes. Music is pleasant, complementing the film well. Sets, costumes, and makeup are meticulously done, adding to the grandeur. And let's not forget the action sequences, which are choreographed brilliantly!

Magizh Thirumeni's direction is commendable.

Overall, this is a stylish, well-crafted film that is definitely worth watching!

No amount of style can make up for a lack of substance

Ajith's latest film, Vidaamuyarchi, is definitely leagues above the trash he's been in over the last few years. Good scripts seem to be this guy's kryptonite because there hasn't been a single decent Ajith movie since Yennai Arindhaal-a whole decade ago! And no, Nerkonda Paarvai was a disaster; cope harder.

However, when the first trailer for Vidaamuyarchi dropped a couple of weeks ago, it felt like this movie could actually be pretty decent if executed well. Watching it in cinemas reinforced that the execution is what ultimately holds it back from being a truly good film. The plot itself wasn't terrible, but the writing surrounding it felt completely unaware of the mess it was creating. Those flashback sequences and everything in the third act? A testament to that chaos.

The first half of the movie was surprisingly good, albeit a tad slow. It set up a few intriguing narratives that made us curious about where it was headed. But then, around 15 minutes into the second half, it nosedived into a predictable mess. You could practically see the rest of the movie unfolding: our hero takes down the villains, and you're just left waiting to see how quickly you can get home. Toss in a few unintentionally comedic moments, and you've got a film that squanders its potential as an action thriller.

Still, it's not a movie I'd outright advise against watching. While it's not a masterpiece, it's definitely not bad. Technically, it's very sound, featuring gorgeous cinematography and serviceable action choreography that will at least keep your attention. And as far as Ajith movies go, that's a win in itself. Let's just hope the next one is even better!

Bearable

Have lost hope on AK. The three V's with Shiva have literally made to hate him for his script selection. The last liked movie was Yennai Arinthal. Valimai and Thunivu were kind of bits and pieces movie. When it came from H Vinoth i understood that it was AK who is clueless not putting any effort to get better out of himself even basics like get ups, looks or dialogue delivery

However in Vidaamuyarchi though still not upto Yennai Arinthal it was a good watch. Credit to Magizh. AK is still AK. He acts like he is all goodness and modern version of Maryadha Purushothaman Raman. Loves his wife even if she had an affair, Wastes his bullets, arrows only below the knee of goons and quite funny he never even attempts to kill the villian in the end the villian gets fed up of his begging " en manavi enga"and kills himself. AK's pureness of heart Kind of over kill. The one dialogue he attempt in the petro bunk is cringy and he was rightly called as boomer for that. Thankfully there is no transformation scenes or mass punch dialogue.

Overall a bearable movie from AK after a decade.

Predictable, slow paced, stretched, yet lovable

Movie actually doesnt has any hooked intro scenes. Even title scene doesnt has the hook to yell. But.... it is completely alri8. The whole movie is slow paced. Im okay with slow paced screenplay. If u loved the goat breaking bad, u wont even point the slow pace as a issue. I dunno maybe i might try new theatres, the theatre promoted it as 4k rgb, the brightness isnt upto the mark. It was gk poonga, manampathy, kancheepuram. The 2nd show actually, there wasnt any wopping crowd. Barely half filled. Whats wondering is the ticket price, 150rs.

The film shows quality, a perfect example for how a fine film should be. The twists actually worked well, the writing of tight situations are worked very well. The feel of lost, actually felt by us. The divorce convincing dialogues are deep and convinced well. There were flashbacks, it was okey, but yet not much detailed. So dialogues fills the gaps. The music wasnt that much notable, but works well with the movie. The music does its part in this art form.

Whats not okay is the predictable story, there will be a scene which shows regina cassandra's flashback. It actually spoiled the engagement. It might be placed at the end of the film(atleast her psychopath behaviour).

In some scenes the story is stretched as per the directors idea, not convincing tbh.

Whats most wierder in this film is the subtitle colour, green. Whose idea is that ?

The second half has the fight sequences, which was intense. The play of two masterminds is barely rememberable in the screen play.

The editing, placing might changed the film's screenplay to make it as a cult film. The bit predictable, stretched story becomes a villain for this movie.

So the movie as a movie fanatic, is worth a watch as a whole package.

But questionable for benchmark lvl box office hits, since it barely satisfies general audience.

It's a very well-made film.

This movie is an official remake of the Hollywood film Breakdown, starring Ajith Kumar, Action King Arjun, Trisha, with music by Rockstar Anirudh, and directed by Magizh Thirumeni.

I was really impressed by the director because he turned a big mass hero into a subtle character. There are no big action scenes or punch dialogues, but the hero looks very classy. Honestly, it's a great effort to change a mass hero into an ordinary man, and it worked well. The director took time to set up the story and slowly build it. He also made sure to introduce every important character, and it turned out great. The cinematography was a highlight of the movie; it brought the film to life. Anirudh's music took the movie to another level, especially the last 20 minutes, which were amazing.

However, there are a few flaws. The first one is that after watching the movie, I couldn't remember the story. It's a good film, but the story feels a bit weak. They took an idea and just built the screenplay around it. Also, the movie isn't very fast-paced; some people might find it boring, but I didn't feel that way.

Apart from that, I liked the film and think it's something you can watch with your family.

First half was engaging but the second was a let down!

The film begins with a captivating first half hour that sets the stage well for a promising ride.

I was eager to witness more romantic elements unfold, along with a deeper exploration of the couple's marriage and their strained relationship.

Although I anticipated that it would soon shift into a rescue thriller, and indeed it did.

Unfortunately, from thereon the writing became increasingly messy, spiraling into chaos with each passing second.

Up until the intermission, it managed to keep my interest, but after that, the plot became overly convoluted, resorting to the clichés of typical Tamil mainstream cinema. As for the climax, it's best left unmentioned as it lost all coherence by that point.

Extraordinary perfomance from Ajith kumar. 😍 amazing movie

VIDAAMUYARCHI is an absolute banger! From the first scene, it's a non-stop adrenaline rush that hits HARD. And #AK as Arjun? Man with a whole vibe, silent but moves like a king, drip on 100, and power in every step. His screen presence, intensity, and swag are just next-level. 2nd half, AK doozes power and confidence. 🔥

As a die-hard #Thala fan, this is EVERYTHING! That Car fight, Thala made that Hummer his fight ring - Zero stunts wasted, all impact with Straight alpha mode! #Ajith's look? Perfection! Every frame screams style, power, and mass. Mazigh's direction nails the larger than life storytelling, and Anirudh's BGM? Literal goosebumps, it had the whole theatre bouncing!

The way #Maghil cooked this screenplay is insane! Every scene keeps you at the edge of your seat, with tension and hype building at every turn. The pacing, the twists, the execution? Chef's kiss! 👌🔥

This isn't just a movie, it's an experience. The action, the emotions, the visuals, all hit different. #VIDAAMUYARCHI is a must-watch for every action lover and a straight-up feast for Thala fans.

100% hype, 100% chills! 💥🔥

What a waste of everyone's time

This movie doesn't deserve the hype, the budget or the actors or any amount of effort that was put into it. The first 20 mins I was really excited to enjoy the movie seeing such good cinematography but then everything quickly fell away. I know it's just a movie and logic thinking's not the right place to do it but come on, none of the scenes were natural, every interaction feels forced and there's literally no chemistry with any of the conversations. The scenes move just because, there's no logic to any of it. Too many pointless actions leads to pointless consequences which are dealt with in a pointless way. Clearly Anirudh also have up because the must, bg and everything just feels re-used and very lazy.

Don't even get me started with Ajeeth's acting. He's such a talented actor who didn't belong to this movie. Everyone's acting is just terrible in this and because of that Ajith's acting feels totally out of place.

Overall it's a movie that should not have happened.

Awesome move

Family oriented flim. Ajith Sir performance 100%. Music Awsom. Making and the background (Azerbaijan) is very fresh for tamil audience.

Thirsha is gorgeous and Arjun Sir's Acting also top of the world. This movie easily satisfy all the family audience.

I like personaly like this movie because screen play is excellent and all the co actors performed really well.

Aniruth Bgm is great.

Biggest blockbuster of 2025.

I would say this is full entertainment movie for all set of audience.

Further, this is director's movie. Hats off to the movie team. I can give 10 out 10 to the Vidaamuyarchi Mak.

A Magizh Thirumeni movie....!!!!

As a fan, my opinion is, a decent watch with good cinematography and good performances. Especially AK has given his best. Please don't go by reading or watching all reviews. People form different opinions based on their unique experiences,

If you are a movie lover just try it.

The movie's pacing is slow in the first half.

It takes a while for the first half to get going.

The second half picks up the pace considerably. The story accelerates in the latter half. The pacing shifts into high gear during the second half. The film's tempo quickens noticeably after the midpoint. Things move much faster in the second half. Emotional scenes are well made.

Worst movie!!! A cheap copy of Hollywood style..

In my opinion, Vidaamuyarchi tried to copy Hollywood style, but it failed in the core of a movie, which is the story!!! There is no thrill, no romance, no comedy, no sentiment, no(or mild) action.. Not sure under which genre would this movie come into.. The whole movie runs in a foreign land, which is not needed at all.. it might be a treat for the visuals, but without a story, going for such a location is not needed.. Things seem to be too dramatized, be it the first scene of hero accepting heroine's decision or the last scene of the dogs finding a bunker.. Only positive thing about the movie is the BGM.. other than that, there is nothing felt 'WOW' or even satisfactory.

Technically good Movie, but Screenplay 🤔

Vidaamuyarchi, a AjithKumar's movie without any commercial elements. Technically this movie is phenomenal compare to recent tamil biggies. Especially DOP Om Prakash done a great job. And color grading also good for this movie, gives a hollywood level vibes. Then Music director Anirudh is one of the backbone of this movie, especially he gives vigour to the second portion. And Ajith Kumar's performance is also good comparatively his recent work.

The Negative of the movie is Screenplay. This movie runs without a gripping screenplay and easy to predict. The First half after Trisha's disappearance is doesn't create any impact. This kind of movie needs a Screenplay which play a hide and seek with audience, but it miss that. On the contrary, it is easily predictable for us. Magizh's previous works like "Thadam", "Meegaman" even "Kalaga thalaivan" also have that level of Writing. But this movie badly miss that. The Interval twist is so awkward. This writing makes audience can't have connect with Ajith's struggle to find his wife and Arjun and Regina's Character.

Overall this movie is good for One time watchable and it's par better than AK's recent movies like Valimai, vivegam and viswaasam. And Ajith's performance is also good. The love portion and "Sawadikka" song are nice. All looks of Ak in this movie is nice. If you except a classy movie like "Yennai Arindhal", you definitely get disappoint like me 😏.

A great effort by a great hero

The film would be a bit slow and in the end there were too many action scenes in the end but it is not an usual masala film by ajith with zero commercial elements. The camera work and the fights were too good in the film which are the positives of the film. But the negative of the film is the hero himself as many people see ajith as a actor who acts in commercial film with mass elements and even the story was not too good but the screenplay for the film by the director magizh thirumeni was good as you would see the director would confuse with some scenes. Even though it is the remake of the hollywood film Breakdown magizh thirumeni adds his own touch to the film and is definitely worth watching.

I can't understand why they producers make this film. Nothing is in this film, No comedy, no romance, no Action only bakwaas. From today I shall not waste my time to watch these Actors film. They do always over acting. They are mindless and they are only money maker and only looting the new producers.

A beautiful climax

I am always a fan of feel good movies or a movie which ends with a warm note. This is one such movie. The first half is captivating. Audience won't loose the focus of the movie. The plot starts burning slowly. A very gripping first half. The scenes where Ajith expresses his emotions is very natural. Trisha and Ajith, they have this classy way of portraying characters. Trisha looks very beautiful. Feels good to see them back. There are no extra masala added in the movie. It's so crisp. It's one hell of an experience for tamil audiences. It's been such a long time that a gripping thriller has been released. Overall it's a treat to watch Ajith after winning the race.

Worst Ajit Movie

I am not sure Ajit really read the script before signing this movie. Vidaamuyarchi has neither a tight script nor catchy dialogues.

Most of the scenes are disconnected and feels like somebody is holding the actors at gun point to make them act. In fact, dialogues are the worst part of the movie, especially when local language is spoken.

There are unnecessary flashbacks that don't add to the movie's storyline. The paramour is never shown. The reason for Trisha to go with her lover is not explained clearly.

Then, there are local actors who are either facing the camera for the first time or they don't understand the plot.

Was waiting to see if there would be something good coming on subsequent scenes. But it never happens.

Avoid it to feel disappointed about an Ajit movie.

Pathikichu Oru Ratchasa Thiri is Real 🔥💯

Smooth screenplay.no mass elements takes place.gripping story.enjoy with your family.

Movie Move throughout the story no more unwanted things presented in the screenplay.

Few may found 1st half lengthy scenes as slow drag but it's give an character intro's , director push the audience towards the story and then suddenly the graph 📈 increase and some twists may occur and at one time director confuse you but suddenly he breaks twists and everything went well at the second half. Mostly an must watch film for couples and families. You can see an new character shade of Ajith Kumar in this movie.

1st half has an good and smooth screenplay 2nd half and upto last 30 min - Pathikichu oru ratchasa thiri is Real🔥🔥💯📈

Slow burner but worth a watch

Adapting a 28 year old script (Breakdown) and adding an extra hour to the screenplay to explain the backstories of both protoganists and antagonists is always a gamble but it worked to some extent here. The storyline is pretty straightforward-A couple (Ajith Kumar and Trisha) in a deteriorating relationship following the wife's miscarriage and her subsequent affair go on a final roadtrip. On the way,the wife is kidnapped by a human-trafficking gang (Arjun and Co) and the husband must save her. The first 2 hours proceed at a sluggish pace with no major twists or mass moments (It's an Ajith Kumar film!). The audience in my show (6.30 am FDFS at Shankarnag Symphony, Bengaluru) were literally silent following the introduction credits and the first song Sawadeeka. Then suddenly things just spring to life in the last 30 minutes awakening the audience. The first two hours just set up a final blowoff. Great making by Magizh. Ajith who looked literally vulnerable in the first two hours is transformed into an unhinged fighting machine. Anirudh joins the party and delivers a pulsating BGM (Pathikichu just fits the final act perfectly). Speaking of the lead actors' performances,Ajith showcases a new persona without any mass sequences or dialogues, with signs of vulnerability and looked really dapper in quite a while. Trisha fits the "damsel in distress" role here. Coming to the antagonists,Arjun is his usual charming self,Aarav is adequate but the show-stealer is Regina. Speaking of the technical aspects, the cinematography is excellent capturing the breath-taking visuals of Azeribaijan. Overall,a watchable action slow burner that just takes it's time to come to life. If only it had kicked it a bit earlier!

No AK Comeback

Ajith's on-screen presence is the main focus of this slow-paced, stylish flick!

Not a single theater moment! Catastrophe.

The Worst Work Ani Has Done So Far!

It appears that Maghizh was compelled to produce this film, which is, in fact, a remake of Breakdown!

It could have been sped up, but the movie moves at such a slow pace that I can't stand the second half.

Arjun's role was a huge waste of time and had little scope.

The sole bright spot in the film is Dop, who keeps his attention on the frame.

The story could have been improved; several parts lacked logic. This is awful.

I'm hoping that if that continues in the vein of Vidamurachi, God will help Ajith. Let's wait until April 10.

Vidaamuyarchi - First half may test the emotional perseverance of audience

Rating - 3.25/5

A survival thriller with a mediocre story plot set on the backdrop of a road journey.

The plot of the story revolves around a couple and their life takes a turn when the wife goes missing in a strange situation on their road journey and what odds the husband has to face in finding her forms the storyline.

Magizh Thirumeni has placed the story through a slow narrative initially with some cliche romantic sequences for portraying the relationship dynamics between them. The second half of the movie is slightly action oriented and the director has brought out more of an emotional side of Thala in this movie and may not be completely satisfying for Thala fans expecting high octane action sequences, slow motion and mass dialogues.

Good performance by Ajith Kumar. Character portrayal of Trisha altogether felt incomplete. Arjun Sarjaa,Regina Cassandra,Nikhil Nair & Aarav has made notable performances.

Om Prakash has captured the visual beauty of the deserts and barren lands of Baku on a visually appealing note. Good action sequences especially in the car has brilliantly been choreographed by Master Supreme Sundar complemented with Anirudh's BGM's.

A watchable thriller on emotional perseverance with a slow and distinctive narrative style .

A Promising Thriller That Loses Its Way

"Vidaamuyarchi" starts with a promising premise and an intriguing setup, but ultimately falters in its second half, leaving viewers with a sense of unfulfilled potential. While the film boasts a compelling performance from Ajith Kumar and a gripping first half, the narrative loses momentum and fails to maintain the same level of engagement as the story progresses.

Ajith Kumar delivers a nuanced and captivating performance as Arjun, a man whose life takes an unexpected turn during a road trip with his estranged wife. His portrayal of a desperate husband searching for his missing wife is both convincing and emotionally resonant. The supporting cast, including Trisha Krishnan and Arjun Sarja, delivers commendable performances, adding depth to the narrative.

The film's first half effectively establishes the strained relationship between Arjun and his wife, Kayal, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The tension builds steadily, creating a sense of anticipation and intrigue that keeps viewers hooked.

However, the film's second half fails to capitalize on this momentum. The pacing slows down considerably, and the narrative becomes predictable and repetitive. The twists and turns lack the impact of the earlier portions, and the climax feels underwhelming and anti-climactic.

The film's technical aspects are decent, with competent cinematography and a fitting background score. However, the editing could have been tighter, especially in the second half, to maintain a better flow and pace.

Despite its flaws, "Vidaamuyarchi" is a watchable thriller with a compelling performance from Ajith Kumar. However, its disappointing second half and lack of narrative momentum prevent it from being a truly satisfying or memorable cinematic experience.
