i disappointed so much .. Billa-2 "David Billa" is so weak in screenplay. and glittering in the cinematography.. nothing is present there for impressed. and another terrible thing is "Gangster" song coming at the end of movie in end title card that's An embarrassing mistake... and there is no scope for Parvathy Omanakuttan...she arriving in some frames only.. The red camera used in this movie R.D.Rajasheker handled very well in the climax scene. The director not involved in the songs i think ..bcoz songs are all terrible to watch .. and i don't know why that belly dance song comes nearly at the climax.. Billa 2 is only for Ajith fans not for all. So Billa -2 is only 5 out of 10. - Raja ks
When you leave the movie theater after watching Billa 2, you wonder if its the best thing that has happened to the gangster genre of Kollywood or even for the Billa series. But, through the course of its narration, it misses the much requited pace and becomes slightly predictable.
The narrative style is entirely new to Tamil Cinema and Billa 2 surely has its moments of awe, which is largely due to the lead actor Ajith Kumar's screen presence and the way he tricks his rivals to death. There is a lot of gun slinging and fewer song sequences than in Billa, but they contribute to the story and keeps you in the edge of the seat. Ajith Kumar and director Chakri Toleti have put together some serious hard work and their efforts and results, are a treat on-screen. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score and songs hugely supplement the story with its action sequences and his music is out of the world!
A few scenes could have been added to brief even more about David Billa's rift with the cops and fellow mafias. The style of narration is excellent a refreshingly new one though. Its impressiveness lies in the actors supporting it, fine camera work and top notch BGM.
Verdict: Mankatha > Billa 2 > Billa Points: 8 out of 10

If you've played GTA or MAFIA kinda games, you'll be irritated to watch this movie! To be frank, David Billa moves around with all freedom after the number of murders he commits(even it can be excused!) But, he executes everyone just like that! To be precise he plays 'GOD'. The movie started well after the credits. It traveled well until Billa joins ANNACHI. After that it gets predictable and monotonous. Sometimes certain scenes won't even stand to our predictions, don't get too excited, The fact is that it's worse than that! So when you start to predict, If you wanna be right with your prediction then expect the next scene to be very normal and the twists implied to be the twists during stone age cinema. The camera was good. All the scenes are the same and that is - BILLA kills boss to be the boss! Only the character artists and locations are changed! They've tried the SIN CITY type in one song which I'd say was indeed new and nice! Ajith plays his part well...Camera was nice, so were the locations. Costumes at certain places were inappropriate, Otherwise it was savvy. Editing was simple and nice. Technically the movie was good. The pre production wasn't effective enough I guess. Bad screenplay alone lets the movie down. One thing is evident from movies like these- They're not allowing the audience to grow! When this kinda taste prevails among the audience, I'm afraid even Great movies like THE GODFATHER (Francis Ford Coppola) won't stand tall! .... SAD!
Just completed watching Billa 2 @ 5AM today... Stunts were extraordinary.Movie has been paced very well.I don't think any hero will take risk as Ajith did in Billa 2....
Worth the watch...I do not want to give anything away...Watch out for stunts and dialogues in the movie.. Cinematography and Music adds strength to the movie..
For Thala fans...We got another back2back hit after long time...
Kudos to Chakri!!
Billa 2 has done justice to thala fans as well as common movie-goers..
Watch it ..u will not regret it...
Going to watch it again tomorrow!!

''Billa'' was one of the few films which was known as a ''stylish and sexy film'' in Tamil Cinema's history. Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar made a breakthrough with this movie and had established himself as the one and only actor in Kollywood to fit in a role as a Gangster with power, style and a lot of money. His last venture ''Mankatha'' (directed by Venkat Prabhu) made the actor to grab two awards which were ''Favourite Hero'' and ''Best Villain''. But would he get another opportunity to grab so many awards again? Did ''Billa II'' keep what it had promised?
Here is the review.
The film is a prequel to the 2007 film which is a remake of the 1980 Rajinikanth film with the same title. It goes back in time before the events of the 2007 film.
David Billa (Ajith Kumar) is a refugee from Lanka who comes to India and becomes an international don. The film has a simple story and amazing punch lines, but I think it should have deserved a stronger screenplay. The director had more focus on style, action and glamorous ladies than the screenplay (which perhaps could have been an attraction for males). Even if the film did not reach the high expectations, there are still some things in the film that should be praised.
First of all, the main actor Ajith Kumar. He has once again proved himself that he is the unbeatable don and has delivered a wonderful performance as usual. Bruna Abdullah, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Vidyut Jamwal who made their debut in Tamil Cinema and Ilavarasu who played the role as Annachi have also done a good job and have given lives to their roles. R. D. Rajasekhar and Suresh Urs who are the cinematographer and the editor did an excellent work and Yuvan Shankar Raja who is the music director, has given a stylish Hip-Hop/House soundtrack which gave energy to the film.
Otherwise ''Billa II'' is a weak and disappointing venture that was directed by Chakri Toleti. Expected more from him after Unnai Pol Oruvan. If people who loved Billa (2007) go to the theaters with lower expectations, maybe there is a little chance for that they will enjoy the film.
Verdict: Gang Gang Gangster, He Ain't a Monster!
