Its a daring attempt by GVM and it is well scripted thriller. It may be an inspiration or something else but this is fresh and its all the audience want. Don't know why many criticize this movie. Veera is amazing; backbone of the movie. Rest of them did complete justice to their role. If you don't like the genre, don't criticize the movie for it! as simple as that!! People need to have a broad mind in order to see this movie. If you appreciate Sigappu Rojaakal, then this movie is for you.
Dark cinematography scores well for the movie.
Note: Just wanna share the moments Tamizh audience missed. The epic one being Anbe Sivam.

I was quite surprised to hear a number of negative reviews when the movie came out but I wanted to see for myself and decide. It proved a good decision as the movie delivered. It achieved exactly what it wanted to achieve. Gautham Menon has proved time and time again that he is a great story teller and an crisp screenplay writer. Child abuse is a tough subject to handle especially in Kollywood and he had handled it with great aplomb. The lead Veera comes out of this movie with huge credit. He has handled it so well and not to mention the bold career choice for his breakthrough movie. Manoj Paramahamsa deserves special credit for his cinematography and excellent many close ups . This movie turns in to a thriller after first half and keeps the audience at the edge of their seats. Everybody should pay full price to watch this movie. Kudos to Menon and the producers for their support to bring a controversial subject to Kollywood. It is kind of an awareness movie too and it delivers on all cylinders.
It's a very interesting psychological thriller by genius Gautam Menon but it was not well received at that time
Its a rip off from Psycho and Primal Fear tweaked here and there to portray as "shudder" original stuff. The film is well executed of course as he is a film maker who knows how to do the the execution with the correct dose of style and emotion. But the abject copying of such high profile films shows the maker in poor light. This is not the first film he has done that is a copy of major Hollywood films as well. Really what is the big deal in taking a great story, tweaking it to suit the local audiences and presenting it to the unaware? The big deal is to make money. With a new cast, old story and a previous hit, this movie is tailor made to fill the coffers.
There was so much hype about this movie and I was pretty encouraged by the fact that it was directed by Gautam Menon, a director who has show that he can be in a different league in Tamil movies.
However, his attempt at a psycho killer movie is awful to say the least. The screenplay is so poor and the first half is especially bad. There is no background music or songs in this film that ran for quite a long time, in excess of 2.5 hours, I think.
When psycho movies like this are attempted, the lead character playing the psycho needs to be able to pull off the rule with great gusto. The new face who took on this role in this movie is awful. His attempts at conveying his psychopathic feelings are not at all convincing. In fact, it is quite annoying to watch.
The twist in the movie is so weak that it was largely unnoticed by the crowd. Several people started to make fun of the movie when it lost speed. The only highlight of the movie is Sameera Reddy's performance. She probably has about a 30 minute role in the movie and does well although it doesn't even nearly make up for the other inadequacies in the movie.
In conclusion, this is just a marketing driven hype that will probably run it's course in the box office and do well in terms of revenue. However, you will be pretty disappointed if you spent your money on this movie. Don't disappointingly say "I should have trusted that IMDb review" after watching it.
