The Squatchers

The latest production by Pure magic pictures is an enjoyable movie about a group of New York City friends who set out to find Bigfoot in sceenic Upstate New York. A very talented group of young actors and actresses, led by Kenneth Andrew as Tyler, Olivia Roldan as Fay, and Manuel Belliard as Lewis, do an outstanding job, while associate producer/veteran actor, Eric Rosenberg makes his cameo appearance as Sheriff Hawkins. The Squatchers is a hilarious, heart pumping, heart warming adventure comedy. It's very reminiscent of 80/90s adventure films from story to the visuals and even the original score, which is amazing. The Squatchers is a very fresh and satisfying film about hunting for Bigfoot and rediscovering old friendships. The characters are so unique and have great chemistry. The tone and humor reminds of The Goonies or even some moments in Stranger Things. This is another great film from Pure Magic Pictures and you can even find many easter eggs from other Pure Magic Films. This movie makes you want to get your friends together, grab your flashlights and go camping.

Pure magic pictures goes back to their roots with a simple, yet fun adventure film about a group of friends searching for the elusive big foot. The seamless chemistry between the actors (along with their infectious charm) really drives the story along that leads to a satisfying story about friendship and all it's glory. There are a few surprises in there especially if you watched all the other pure magic films which I really appreciate. I hope in the future we will see more of this expanded pure magic universe! This film feels fresh, but also brings a nostalgic feeling from all those old adventure films from the 80s and 90s!

I don't often write reviews of films, and it's not that this one was so awful that I needed to trash it. But when there are a number of reviews giving it 10/10, I had to bring some balance and honesty.

This film looks pretty good but that's about it as far as positives go. The actors mostly give over-the-top performances, scenes are so long and drawn out for no reason, and absolutely nothing of note happens until the 40 minute mark. We only get one glimpse of the Sasquatch towards the end of the film, and then you understand why he wasn't shown more often. The third act is okay, but the film would have been better had they cut it down to an hour long.

This movie is exactly what it's meant to be, a fun romp in the woods and other locations, silly characters, and fully entertaining. Well done Mr. Hubbard! Your cast appear to be having fun as well. What's not to love? Maybe the first scene is a little rocky, a bit overlit and a bit of room echo, but it smoothed right out very quickly. The pace of the movie is, in my opinion, very good as well. No drawn out boring expositions. Each characters' character is obvious and the dialogue rings true for these quirky semi-losers with good hearts. I'm def going to watch your other movies. I'm a fan! Pls make more.
