Funny,...decent writing and very well produced give the small budget. A quality flick. Good performances by an experienced cast. Loved Jim Annan's low key performance. Although the plot is a bit contrived (especially the ending) I still found the movie enjoyable. The sound track was surprisingly good and the production quality excellent. Mr Robertson's direction was spot on and his cast responded accordingly. Some plot items never really explained, but they didn't spoil the over all effect. The humorous scenes came off well. Not a classic film, but enjoyable. I'm looking forward to more from Ian Robertson and his crew. We need more Canadian produced films of this quality. I'm sure there is a wealth of talent available just awaiting further opportunity.
I saw this awesome little film at it's limited run at the Royal Cinema, and I loved it. Granted, it's probably not for everyone; the plot is odd but it works. The acting and production values were incredible. Jim Annan, in particular is incredible. You'll recognize him as a commercial 'That guy!' - but he more than carries this story on his shoulders. Also I LOVED Pat 'Joey Jeremiah' Mastroianni as Fredo. He needs more roles like this.
Unlike a lot of Canadian lo-budget indie films, the production values on this are incredibly high. It's shot beautifully, and the director, Ian Robertson perfectly encapsulates the feeling of Toronto in the fall, both emotionally and visually. The score is beautiful, memorable, hummable. It actually reminded me a bit of a Jim Henson film. I think a Muppet version is in order with Scooter as Darren.
If you get a chance to see this, go... it's not a perfect film, but it's filled with charm, awesome characters, great dialogue, unexpected twists, and some of Canada's best comedic talent.

- QuizThe role of Mr. Harjin was originally supposed to be played by veteran Canadian comedian Scott Thompson. A last minute scheduling conflict forced him to drop out, leaving the producers 48 hours to locate a replacement.
