Came across this by accident, S01E02 "Super Bonnet", totally LOVED it. The play on the song Super Sonic was extremely cute and I could relate to the context of Girls needing to wrap your hair before going to bed.
Initially, I expected more because I thought it was a show, it isn't, It's more like a music video. I purposely didn't say informational because it packs great visuals, colors, sound and is clear & fun for everyone. The informative part either hit home in a positive way OR is something that may not relate to you... the good thing about how that is you can ignore it and enjoy everything else or see how other may see the world.
I'm not sure of the target audience, for teens and pre-teens good entertainment but way too short and lacking some sort of a connecting story to come back. The length is perfect for toddlers but I think a conversation may be needed at times to know how the perceive it.
As for adults its either hit or miss (by what I see in the comments). If you enjoy have conversations with you kids about what they are thinking or feeling, this is a good conversation starter... just be aware these short videos don't lean one way or the other so any reaction is probably personal and in the moment. Some adults bring a lot of baggage and unneeded intelligence to children's entertainment.
My personal wish list would be that they were stretched out to 6-7 minutes and that there were released 13 to 21 at a time, if not more.

The only complaint I have about Rise Up Sing Out is that it's too short. It's eight episodes long, and each episode is about two minutes long. It's begging to be made into a full series. At least what we do get is pretty outstanding. The episodes tackle some kind of mature issue, whether it's racism, embracing your cultural identity, or learning to appreciate your natural beauty and creativity. For a show that's meant to be for the preschool audience, I think the episodes get the job done. The characters are also fun even if you wish you can see more from them due to the condensed time limit. They all exude really fun energy that makes you want to hang out with them. The music is also top notch. I've never heard of The Roots before, but they definitely know how to make the soundtrack stand out. So yeah, I love this show. Disney, give this the full greenlight.
All kids media has messages spread throughout to influence them, some are about being kind, some are about self sacrifice, some are about compassion. Some of them are even about not being racist! I don't know why anyone would be mad about a kids TV show teaching kids not to be racists, unless they were racist. Cute music, animations, and voice acting. A great pass time for any child. Stay mad conservatives.
My 5 year old loves the songs and music and she's learning invaluable lessons while having fun. She has very curly hair and loves the bonnets the kids use. We watch all the episodes together and I think they're enjoyable for all ages. Based on some of the comments on here this show is extremely needed.
Just a truly awful show. Every time it comes on we turn the TV off because the warped messages being spouted by it are absolute trash.
I'm glad I actually watch and absorb what my child is watching on TV, because if I were a more neglectful parent I might think this show is harmless. The messages on this show do not bring ups together - they divide us and make us hate each other for daring to be human.
I'm going to have to keep a sharp eye out now when we put the Disney Channel on - if we ever do again. Please parents, actually listen to and watch the shows your children watch and understand what they're saying - don't just trust something because Disney put it out.
