Pixies

In the suburbs, there is a pixies village hidden in a ditch. Sam and his friends live in the village. His brother William is crushed by a trash bag from the human world. The Pixie King declares a curse on the human named Joe Beck. Sam and his friends cause havoc in his life even at his garage shop. He crashes into Michelle Meyers and falls head over heels. He discovers the pixies and captures Sam.

This is an animated Canadian movie. The animation is rudimentary akin to the late 90s production level. It's better than film student level but less than theatrical release level. The designs are a little ugly especially the pixies and Michelle. The story is functional although it needs to be more straight. There is an environmental bent but it needs fully embrace it. Better animation would help a lot in smoothing out the rougher spots.

Pixies are mythical creatures of folklore, and are believed to inhabit ancient underground ancestor sites such as stone circles, barrows, dolmens, ringfort or menhirs. In traditional regional lore, pixies are generally benign, mischievous, short of stature and attractively childlike; they are fond of dancing and gather outdoors in huge numbers to dance or sometimes wrestle, through the night! Now, about this animated movie written and directed by Sean Patrick O'Reilly - nothing in it is like that. Humorless, bullying pixies and bland characters! I understand that there is a need to have more independent animation , but this movie was a pure waste of time! Bad dialogue, terrible computer animation, awful sound effects, and a story which had a bad, almost sour ecological taste. I do not think that a story line about vengeance could be in any way kid friendly, even though they tried to fix everything at the end. I would rethink an intention to show this animation to any of the kids in my family! I was most of the time annoyed by the pixies and I could not understand why would someone even categorize this movie as a children's movie.

We all enjoyed the humor, the Pixies and the great ending. Christopher Plummer stole the show as the Pixie King and it is a movie we'll be watching again and recommending to others! My kids are now out in the backyard looking for Pixies.

I think I can relate to poor Joe as he is an everyman. I used to work with my dad in his garage as a mechanic but I never could get the hang of it. I'm now in IT (my fingers are probably blocker than even Joe's) and it was great seeing the relationship the father/son had.

I think there needs to be more independent animation as all I ever see is the Penguins of Madagascar or other heavily-marketed ad campaigns. This movie had a heart that was filled with love and still beats strong with me.

It actually got a 2 bc I was so entertained at my kids reactions and commentary to this movie. I am currently 45 minutes into this movie, and I had to start looking into it. I was surprised it was made/released in 2015---it seems like a story that was developed many generations ago. (Joe is lovestruck by the underage-looking female who knocks him out with the door). And it is very poor quality..I literally thought to myself that this must be an early creation when animation became a thing. So, the commentary the kids have provoded have been on joesJsquare finhers, his proportion to his house, his eyebrows......nothing looks human amongst hom, and therefore the movie comes off as something made for toddlers. Did I mention my children are 8 and 10, and find this movie an actual laughing joke? We are watching this only because it is a TV movie, and it is the end of our night spending time together.

Dialogue and animation reminded me of Clutch Cargo.

Compared to what is shown today even on TV, a student could do better.

Story line about vengeance is not kid friendly even though they make up at the end.

If the story is about bullies and vengeance it could have been better portrayed.

if I wasn't with my granddaughter I would have left.

Learned to never go see a movie that only has 1 showing a day at the theater.

If I could have, I would have asked for a refund.
