Recensioni in evidenza
Vamp U is an Indie comedy about a history professor named Wayne Gretzky, who is also a vampire. When Gretzky accidentally bites one of his students, things spiral out of control as the campus becomes overwhelmed with female vampires. Overall, it's a fun little film as long as you don't think too much about it. The cast was also pretty good, all things considered. I love the character of Wayne Gretzky. I had a professor who acted just like Gretzky when I was in college. He had the same mannerisms and everything (except he wasn't a vampire, I think), which made this film funnier to me. Also, I loved Alexis Knapp in this film. She stole the show in whatever scene she was in. Don't get me wrong. This isn't a perfect film. There are a lot of things that don't make sense. But if you need an escape from reality or just want a fun watch, this is the movie for you.
I like the new vampire movies, so this one was on my list. It's nothing like Twilight, just saying (I liked Twilight, but I know there are a lot of people who are not very fond of the whole shiny-vampire-romance). This is definitely nothing like it. I did read the review that was written here on IMDb, and so I did not expect much of it, but it was a nice movie. I had a couple of laughs, definitely did not waste my time, and there are some pretty nasty things going on, made it interesting. Couldn't help but thinking it was kinda like a mix between American Pie and Buffy. So if you like fantasy, bloodsucking hot teenage girls & bad jokes - watch it.
I don't think it was made to get awards. And you shouldn't go into it, thinking it did.
Everyone, especially Gary Cole, seem to be having a great time and it transfers over to the viewer. Well for me it did. I enjoyed watching it and was more entertained by this film than I do with most modern comedies. The only problem that I can see is that it doesn't know whether it want's to be a vampire spoof or just a vampire comedy or a teen vampire comedy.

Well, this wasn't no Bram Stoker's "Dracula", nor was it (luckily) not a Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" either. This movie was sort of a light-hearted romantic comedy with just a hint of horror, oh, and with vampires.
The story is about a college professor named Wayne Gretzky (played by Adam Johnson) who becomes enthralled with the new student to his class Chris Keller (played by Julie Gonzalo). They start to have a relationship, but it turns out that they have more in common than just a mutual attraction. And the fact that Wayne is a vampire also does tend to prove somewhat of an issue in matters of the heart.
I will say that the storyline was fairly straight forward, however, it wasn't particularly an impressive or overly interesting storyline. And what kept the movie afloat was the use of comedy throughout the movie. Mind you, it is not the kind of comedy that will have you laughing hard and in tears, but it is the kind that worked well enough and was just subtle enough to peak its funny head.
It should be noted, however, that the people hired for the various roles and characters were actually doing good jobs with the roles and characters that they were given. It was just the script that proved somewhat of a ball and chain around their ankles.
In overall, then "Vamp U" is a movie that is intended for a young teenage girl audience, and it doesn't really offer much for others in the audience, as this movie is a no brainer from start to end.
Could have been more, but it catered to a teenage girl audience.

I don't know what I expected from this. The vampire genre has been dying for a long time and after the Twilight Sagas and the True bloods have urinated on the grave even the comedy vampire can be laid to rest after this turgid effort. Few laughs and terrible performances (I can't call it acting as there wasn't any in the whole sorry piece - even the usually excellent Gary Cole is phoning it in here) from an entirely charisma free cast. I watched this while lying in bed due to a bad knee injury - I can assure you the pain of my knee ligaments snapping was preferable to being put through this again. Still others out there might like it.
