Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic lead singer of Black Sabbath who also fronted the classic MTV reality show The Osbournes, has died at the age of 76 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the Osbourne family said in a statement Tuesday. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

New details have emerged in the death of legendary fitness guru Richard Simmons.

Police had responded to a call from Simmons’ housekeeper on the morning of July 13 — one day after his 76th birthday. Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene, and no foul play was suspected.

Richard Simmons, the goofy clown prince of fitness who turned his passion for weight loss into riches and fame as a Hollywood celebrity, has died. He was 76.

A rep for Simmons told The Hollywood Reporter that he died earlier Saturday at his home in Los Angeles. His cause of death wasn’t immediately available.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that personnel responded to a 911 call from Simmons’ home on Belfast Drive and arrived there at 9:57 a.m. on Saturday. The spokesperson added that “an investigation is still being conducted.”

“I don’t want people to be sad about my brother,” Lenny Simmons, Richard’s brother, shared in a statement.” I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. He truly cared about people. He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help.

Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland was today (22 March) cleared of domestic violence charges.

Adult Swim, the network behind the animated series, announced it was severing ties with Roiland earlier this year after it was reported that he was facing charges in connection with a 2020 incident.

Kimberly Edds, spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney’s office, confirmed in a statement (per Variety): “We dismissed the charges today as a result of having insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Roiland shared a statement about the verdict on social media with the one-word caption: “Justice.”

“I have always known that these claims were false – and I never had any doubt that this day would come,” he wrote. “I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.

Elon Musk has claimed disgraced Rick and Morty co-creator is the “heart of the show”, following Adult Swim’s announcement that it has “ended its association” with Justin Roiland.

Roiland’s firing comes just weeks after it was reported that the former co-creator and star of the adult cartoon series was facing charges of domestic abuse in connection with a 2020 incident.

The Independent has contacted Roiland’s representatives for comment.

Along with the news, the network confirmed that the popular show would continue on without Roiland, who voiced the titular characters, grandfather Rick and grandson Morty.

YouTuber Tim Pool responded to Adult Swim’s statement, questioning, “how lol. Justin is rick *and* morty”, with Musk adding: “He is also the heart of the show.”

Adult Swim, the network behind Rick and Morty, announced it is severing ties with the series’ co-creator, Justin Roiland.

The decision comes weeks after it was reported that Roiland faces domestic violence charges in connection with a 2020 incident.

Roiland pleaded not guilty to both charges in October 2020, according to Orange County Superior records.

“Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” a spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday (24 January), per The Hollywood Reporter.

The Independent has contacted Roiland’s representatives for comment.

A criminal complaint seen by NBC News reportedly showed Roiland charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. The charges were filed by a woman Roiland had apparently been dating at the time.

2Nd Update, 7:21 Pm: A Washington State judge issued a $100,000 warrant for the arrest of Kyle Massey, after the former Disney Channel star failed for a second time to appear for his arraignment.

The actor, who once starred in series such as That’s So Raven and Cory in the House, was charged with one count of immoral communication with a minor in June. He stands accused of sending pornographic material to a 13-year-old girl.

Massey’s court date was was originally scheduled for late June in King County. It was pushed to the morning of July 12, when the actor first failed to appear.

Exclusive: The Cartel, the management and production company behind series including Shudder’s Creepshow, is expanding its kids and family division.

It has hired Kimberley Mooney as a manager. Mooney joins from Nickelodeon, where she was Senior Director of Animation Development. Before joining the ViacomCBS kids network, she spent ten years at Disney, where she developed series including Fish Hooks, Tron – Uprising, Motorcity and DuckTales.

She will report to partner and manager Bradford Bricken.

It comes after the company set up Field Day Entertainment, a production company run by former Netflix kids and family director Jenny Boyd, who is also a manager at The Cartel.

Tony Hale’s cartoon chicken Archibald is moving from Netflix to Peacock for “Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here.”

Netflix ran two seasons of a series titled “Archibald’s Next Big Thing,” which will continue streaming on that platform. This new season — which is technically a new series based on Hale’s feathery character — consists of six episodes, which will launch Feb. 18 on NBCU’s Peacock.

Per “Archibald” studio DreamWorks Animation, “Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here” is the next chapter for Archibald Strutter, a chicken who “yes-and’s” his way through life. While his adventures don’t always go as planned, Archibald takes it one step at a time with the help of his three siblings, Sage, Finly and Loy, and his trusty sidekick, Bea.

Film, television, and stage actor Jerry Stiller died of natural causes, as according to his son Ben Stiller. He was 92.

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben announced on Twitter. “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

Stiller is known for his TV roles as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld and Arthur Spooner on The King of Queens, and multiple films including, The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three, John Waters’ Hairspray, his son’s Zoolander, and Richard Lester’s adaptation of Terrence McNally’s play, The Ritz, which Jerry also acted in on Broadway.

The last episode of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s acclaimed sci-fi animated series “Rick and Morty” aired on October 4, 2015. Since then, fans have been clamoring for a third season, but Harmon recently told IndieWire at the Sundance Film Festival that there’s no release date yet and that they’re still deep in production. However, Adult Swim, as well as the cast and creators, have tried to tide fans over with everything from improvised mini-episodes to Claymation shorts to 8-bit versions of the intro. An animated series, Fish Hooks follows the young fish Milo, his shy brother Oscar, and their "overly dramatic" friend Bea Goldfishberg. The voice cast includes Kyle Massey, Chelsea Kane, and Justin Roiland and the show has been airing on Disney since September 2010.

Well, the better question is this one: Who are Rick and Morty? And the answer is this: Rick is a hugely intelligent inventor grandfather and Morty is his not so brilliant grandson. The cartoon is the brainchild of Dan Harmon.

Harmon created the popular comedy show Community, and he was executive producer of the NBC series until he was unceremoniously dismissed. I don’t know all the ugly details, but it didn’t seem to be peaceful transition, agreed to by all sides. There was some displeasure on the part of network executives over some of Harmon’s behavior. When he was fired, Harmon appeared non-to-pleased by the change. But, you know the old saying. When one door closes, another opens. Harmon’s new door is Rick and Morty.

Community creator Dan Harmon is returning to TV: Adult Swim has given a 10-episode order to his animated series Rick and Morty, which revolves around the exploits of a gifted inventor and his not-so-gifted sidekick grandson. Harmon — the former Community showrunner who is also developing sitcoms at CBS and Fox — created the show with Justin Roiland (Disney Channel’s Fish Hooks).

Disney Channel’s Jessie has scared up something special for its Season 2 premiere (airing this Friday at 8:30/7:30c) — a Halloween-themed installment that turns the title character into the nanny from hell. (Er, make that heck, kiddies!)

Disney Channel and Disney Xd are kicking off a special cross-channel "Summer Adventures" event, from July 13th until July 16th. It will feature the premiere of original episodes of 11 of their series over the course of three nights.

With the tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the zeitgeist with the breakout ABC series Once Upon A Time and two Snow White movies this year, Disney Junior is revisiting the classic story with The 7D, a new animated series that has been put into production for a 2014 premiere. Described as a comedic take on the world of Seven Dwarfs in a contemporary storybook world, 7D takes place in Jollywood where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D — Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc — to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. While the names of the dwarfs are the same as in the 1937 Disney animated classic, their look is very different. The characters were designed by Fish Hooks...

Jennifer Yuh Nelson's "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the Annie Awards nominations, but the International Animated Film Society decided to give its highest honor -- the Best Animated Feature award -- to Gore Verbinski's "Rango." Both films are from DreamWorks Animation and they still have to duke it out at the upcoming Oscars in the Best Animated Feature Film category.

Besides the Best Animated trophy, "Rango" also collected awards for Best Editing and Writing. But Nelson, the first woman to direct a feature film animation from a major Hollywood production company, won the Directing in a Feature Production award! Yay! I'm a huge fan of animation, animated films are getting better and better. Not only is the look and animation getting ridiculously awesome, but I find that many of these animated films actually have incredibly good stories. Not all of them are good though, for example, Cars 2 and Rio sucked. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking home the awards this year. Out of the movies on the list that I've seen and liked we have Puss in Boots, Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess it's no surprises that Kung Fu Panda 2 is leading the nominations with 9. "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the nominations for the 39th Annual Annie Awards. Given by the International Animated Film Society, the DreamWorks Animation sequel received 12 nods including Best Animated Feature. "Puss in Boots" and "Rango" each took nine noms. Pixar's "Cars 2" received seven nominations, while Disney's "Winnie the Pooh" took eight nods but was oddly missing in the Best Animated Feature category.

Winners of the 2011 Annie Awards will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Get ready for a Phineas Ferb spinoff and or possible feature film! Deadline reports that Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh have signed separate exclusive, multi-year, multimillion-dollar deals with Disney Television Animation. The deal will allow for them to continue working on the Emmy-winning series they created and executive produce for another season. In addition, the deal officially attaches them to the Phineas and Ferb movie being developed at Disney. Povenmire and Marsh are arleady hard at work on the script. The deal gets better, it also includes a new pilot, likely a Phineas and Ferbs pinoff, and other future development for Povenmire and Marsh, who also have a piece of the franchise’s merchandising profits.

Chelsea Kane has signed up for a guest role in One Tree Hill. Kane will appear in one episode of the upcoming ninth season, Entertainment Weekly reports. She will play Tara, the owner of a cafe and a rival to Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti). Kane, who is currently dating One Tree Hill star Stephen Colletti, previously worked on the Disney shows Jonas and Fish Hooks. (more)...

Sunday at San Diego Comic Con 2011 will be the day for gleek. Fox will hold a panel for its musical series "Glee" on July 24, during which a sneak peek to "Glee The 3D Concert Movie" will be shared. The network will additionally present a panel for its new animated comedy "Allen Gregory".

"Supernatural" panel will also take place on the last day of the convention. It will mark the first-time ever the CW series holds a presentation in Hall H. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are set to attend the event along with other cast members to present a sneak peek to the seventh season.

Also possibly attracting attendees are presentation for "Merlin" and "Sons of Anarchy" as well "Castle" panel, which will feature its lead star Nathan Fillion. Fans of animated works such as "The Cleveland Show", "Scooby-Doo" and "The Looney Tunes" can also expect sneak peeks to the shows on Sunday.

Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.

Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.
