Dead Before They Wake

Throw it on. Give it a watch. You will be entertained. That's what this film is. Crime, drama, suspense and a lot of violence. Good fight scenes too. I thoroughly enjoyed the opening fight as well as the others throughout.

You're getting exactly what you expect with Shepka's latest. Some good performances and some okay ones. Never the less I liked the acting but the script could do some workkkkkk. You can't outact a bad script and it's clear here. Would've liked to see more from certain characters. I quite enjoyed the short screen time Kyle McGuiness got. Was hoping he'd pop back up for revenge with his pal or something but found it a lot of fun anyway.

Decent. 8/10 for what it is.

Badly written with an appallingly bad narrative, which is basically about some moronic sociopath investigating child sex trafficking. It has cluelessly appalling direction, ridiculously bad cinematography, it's really badly acted, even from the known actors, really badly edited. Overall it's absolute substandard garbage, completely rank amateur in every way. How does complete garbage like this ever get made? It's so bad it's like a comedy sketch on how to make a really bad film. Obviously the people involved in every aspect of this are rank amateurs with zero understanding of professional filmmaking. The violence is absurdly graphic and gratuitous.

I really liked this film. So often nowadays there's a temptation amongst film makers to sanitise reality. This was not one of them.

I watched this movie because it had one of my favourite actors performing in it (Sylvester McCoy), and the story development did not disappoint.

Some people might say "they shouldn't have said this" or "they shouldn't have said that" but I was happy to see the story presented as it was. This is reality.

Hopefully it raises awareness to the social scourge of young girls being abused and trafficked.

There's a lot of human trafficking-themed movies out there in the past 5 years, and this is one of the better ones in my opinion.

Some people seem too be reviewing this film with Hollywood expectations when it's clearly an independent production. A low budget Scottish film made with a good script and decent acting. Taking all that into account it gets 8/10 from me. Not for the faint hearted but worth a watch.

The main cast are clearly not "A" list actors, although Sylvester McCoy is excellent. It was worryingly realistic for me due to my Scottish roots and the knowledge that this could all too easily happen in my home city of Edinburgh.

Overall a good independent film. Not to be watched if your expectation is a polished Hollywood style film.
