Markings of Murder

Markings of a murder is a visually stunning thriller. The visual arts allows the actors and locations to really pop and create a medley of visual appealing yet intense and intriguing settings for the film. The story keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat through the numerous twists and turns. This is a great movie with an amazing cast that enables you to feel fully immersed in the story. The soundtrack underscores the scenes perfectly adding to the creepy ambience and providing an underpinning of suspense while keeping the viewers captivated. This movie really encapsulates all the elements of an enjoyable and thrilling horror movie.

Markings of Murder is a very good Indie film. It's entertaining and interesting and an awesome watch. It's visually interesting with an seemingly odd color pallet (seemingly odd, until you 'get it' later on) but the whole film is really quite visually great to look at. The camera placement and the detailed lighting are really something special.

First off, the acting is great. Griffin Cork and Elizabeth Chamberlain are both outstanding actors, and they bring these characters to life. Young actor Sheldon Cheeseman did an awesome job as the son, and really the whole cast did great in telling a compelling story.

Markings of Murder also has great pacing. So often with Indie films, they are in a rush to hit joke, joke, joke, or to hit scare, scare, scare -- but Markings of Murder has great patience, to let the story unfold and simmer just the right amount. To let us make our own hypothesis' and to have those theories dashed in just the right timing. It doesn't drag at all, but it gives just enough room to let the story breath.

And it's got a GREAT score, which is also an 'in universe song' in the film, which is once again, very very neat. In other words, characters in the story are aware of the theme song, and yet that's the underlying theme music too. So listen for that when you watch it.

It is still a low-budget indie, so there are some hiccups here and there, but if you stack it up against most of the indies I've seen, it's a 8/10 in my books - a very worth while watch!

Markings of Murder kept me engaged for the entire film. While it is quite dark it is also an incredibly fun watch that can satisfy fans of many genres. The artistic style was refreshing and the plot kept me guessing throughout the entire movie. It is very well acted and the conscious choices made by the writer and director led to very interesting dynamics between the characters. Markings of Murder left me wanting more which I think speaks for itself. Fans of many different genres and styles of filmmaking will enjoy this movie as it is beautifully shot, very well acted, and original in story and plot. Cannot recommend highly enough..

Markings of Murder had me hooked from the very beginning! The movie is dark and atmospheric, carried by a suspense that keeps you guessing until the end. Visually immaculate, and with a gorgeous artistic tone throughout, I was fully immersed. The full cast of actors was amazing, and the conflict between the two leads was palpable. The pacing, in my opinion, was spot on, bringing its twists and turns to light in a way that had me on the edge of my seat. This movie has a clear vision brought to life with incredible directing, and was a recent highlight for me. Amazing work to the cast and crew of Markings of Murder!
