Rosalie Vaillancourt and Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais had the idea for this series based on the American and English-Canadian TV series they watched as teenagers. These were awkwardly dubbed in French, hence the idea to a parody, as the actors played their scenes in English, then overdubbed them. The idea for the show was born in 2017, when Roy-Desmarais and Vaillancourt co-starred in a stand-up comedy show that opened with a short film, in which they played typical teenage characters, as seen on shows like Degrassi.

First closing credit is for "Robert Goldstein Executive producer", a fictional character.
