Recensioni in evidenza
This episode delivers the second part of the spirit-world storyline. The Avatar must undertake a dangerous journey to save his friends-one that could end his legend right then and there. But he receives help from an unexpected source. The episode also marks a major shift in the series, one whose consequences are hard to predict, as it significantly alters the character dynamics. We also learn interesting and surprising details about Prince Zuko's past, including how he received the red burn mark around his eye. It's something I'd been wondering about from the start, and I finally got my answers.
This show has gotten some bad reviews which i have to agree with some things like the over explaining of the story at the beginning. Also its strange that Aang hasnt practised water bending in the water book yet. I have still enjoyed the visual side of the show all the way.
Besides that I REALLY enjoyed this episode! Truelly amazing work. Hopefully we will be getting more episodes like this. It had everything. I enjoyed especially the storytelling in this episode + it had a lot of emotions. I cant tell how happy it made me to see my favourite show come alive just the way i imagine it. This gave me hope to continue the show.

So far this season has been somewhat hit or miss, starting strong, getting bogged down with somewhat inane adventures, but now it's finding its footing again.
The Fire Nation really is the strong point of this series. It features the best actors and has the most interesting and grownup plotline. I'd watch this series if it was just about them.
The machinations of Azula and Admiral Zhao threaten the "good guys" Zuko and Iron even if they are the "bad guys" of the main plot. It makes the whole thing interestingly multilayered.
I also like the notion that the Fire Lord is a rival spiritual leader to the Avatar. Great, now we have a holy war on our hands.
Apparently this series has been doing very well for Netflix, beating even One Piece, so we can look forward to seeing where all this goes in season 2.

This is the first episode that really hit me hard and it's all to do with the fact that the Zuko storyline is the most consistently well handled plotline of the entire season. Dallas Liu plays a somewhat softer version of Zuko, but he has continually infused him with nuance and complexity. In one second he is hot-headed and temperamental and in another he is reserved and contemplative. He often sticks to a code of honor, but sometimes goes against his own code in order to achieve what he wants. All this to say, Dallas Liu does a great job as Zuko in this and the past episodes. This episode deals with his severe inner conflict and reveals the trauma that put him on the quest to capture Aang in the first place. There were a couple moments where I teared up, because of Liu's visceral portrayal of Zuko's deep inner pain.
The experience, however, is somewhat hampered by Gordon Cormier, who plays Aang, not being able to quite match Liu's performance and a rushed resolution to the Koh the Face Stealer plotline, but it is made up for by the quite excellent character study. Daniel Dae Kim also does a great job playing the cold-blooded, ruthless Ozai who thinks the horrible things he does are for their own good. This is a slightly different take on the original character who was even more sociopathic than his live-action counterpart (Ozai in the animated show didn't hurt Zuko for his own good- he did it merely to punish him for Zuko "disrespecting" him). This is a change, however, that I think works to make Ozai more of a fully fleshed out character, because his animated counterpart was a little two-dimensional and we never really got to know him that well.

The main characters played their part extremely well like Gordon Cormier and Daniel Day Kim who played Aang and Fire Lord Ozai, respectively. But the real standout who carried the show was Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko who simply nailed the role!
The screenwriters did an awesome character development and put more meaning to the chaotic (at first) dynamics of Zuko and his crew. The story arc was not in the animated version but it was a very welcome addition. The people behind the show put together and has woven an intricate plot and put it altogether in one cohesive storyline.
I really hope it only gets better from this episode and they will be contracted for more seasons.
