‘The Floor’ Fans Call Finale Tie-Breaker ‘Unfair’ After Shock Result
Image
The Floor crowned its third winner on Wednesday night, and with it came an uproar. The final category directly related to the contestant’s job, and he wound up winning. Steven Havens only had three pieces of the floor and hid in the corner for most of the game. However, when it came down to the final three, he couldn’t hide anymore. After 19-time Jeopardy! champion, David Madden, took down another Jeopardy! champion and many others, he dominated with the most pieces of the floor. Mark Talukdar was also a fan-favorite to win with his category of Fortune 500, but he cracked under the pressure and lost his duel. But, then it came time to pick who Madden wanted to take into the finals. Andrew Edwards had Endangered Animals and Havens had Boy Bands. David was left with Cosplay. These were all inherited categories, so they didn’t have much time to study.

LinkedIn: Remote workers received fewer raises in 2024

Employees who worked from home or a remote office were less likely to receive pay raises this year compared with in-office workers, according to the findings of a new survey released by LinkedIn this week.

The survey, which weighed responses from more than 8,600 professional workers, found 59 percent of in-office employees received pay increases in 2024, compared with 56 percent of remote workers.

Sixty-four percent of hybrid employees — those who work in an office during some parts of the work week or month, then spend the rest of their time working from home or another location — received a pay raise in 2024, the survey found.

“The findings suggest hybrid work could be the preferred model for both employers who want workers in offices and employees who want to maintain some flexibility without sacrificing compensation in the wake of the pandemic,” wrote Rachel Cromidas, a news editor at LinkedIn.

It wasn’t clear...

‘Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars’ on Fox: See Who Received The First $250,000 Angel Investment
Image
Spoiler alert! Do not read this story unless you’ve seen Wednesday’s season one finale of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars on Fox.

Chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay had a tough decision to make during Wednesday’s finale of Food Stars: should he give his $250,000 angel investment to Malibu’s Pizza Girl? Was the creator of Fat Milk more deserving? Or should he reward the guy who wants to hydrate folks and save the environment at the same time?

In the end, Ramsay placed his bet on chemist Chris Kanik, who created the world’s first printed beverage. Kanik’s Smart Cups eliminate the need to bottle and ship liquids. The flavored part is actually imprinted in powder form at the bottom of the plant-based cup; all consumers have to do is add water.

Here, the entrepreneur-cum-family man talks about why he felt the need to appear on Fox’s Food Stars,...

Disney Strikes Back, Says Election of Nelson Peltz to Board Would ‘Threaten the Strategic Management’ of Company
"Trichster" premiere at the Soho International Film Festival
The Walt Disney Company responded to Nelson Peltz’s latest demands Thursday with a resounding “No.” The company released a letter in response to materials released by the Trian Group.

Peltz is now requesting that he, or his son if need be, serve on the Walt Disney board of directors instead of Mastercard executive Michael Froman. Froman has served on the board since 2018. In his statement, Peltz argued “the current board has failed to instill a “culture of accountability,” by overpaying executives even as the business has performed poorly; failing to align incentives with shareholders by personally owning stock and failing to heed “constructive shareholder input.”

“The Disney Board of Directors does not endorse Nelson Peltz as a nominee,” stated the official company response. “[Disney] believes the election of either Mr. Peltz or his son would threaten the strategic management of Disney during a period of important change in the media landscape.
