Sherdil

To be honest, I gave this a watch only for Pankaj Tripathi, one of my favourite actors. With an equally-strong Neeraj Kabi alongside him, you are sure to be given some awesome performances.

This movie talks about many issues prevalent in the society, with the main message being the true events that occurred in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. As I said before, the performances by our leads and supporting characters were phenomenal. Also, Sayani Gupta I felt nailed her role as well. The writing could have been more crisp and less "preachy" I would say. They could have used subtle symbolisms to convey messages instead of almost preaching about it. Nevertheless this was just a personal gripe and can be ignored, because the messages conveyed are truly important to understand. Otherwise, the subtle doses of humour every now and then were pretty funny. The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. The non-linear way in which the story is told makes it bit more engaging. The direction by Srijit Mukherjee was quite good. The score and songs was super good, with Saint Kabir's poems forming the inspiration of the lyrics.

This movie might disengage you if you are not connecting with the characters, but it did not happen for me. But I do feel the first half could have been more crisp. The second half was good pacing-wise.

Please do watch this movie to understand the other poorer side of India. A 7/10 from my side!

No entertainment value - weak story, average dialogues and mediocre acting by everyone except Pankaj. Even Pankaj could do so much with his acting. Waste of time.

This movie could have been made awesome if not for the mediocre to poor direction and writing.

The topic/subject is excellent and very interesting - the reason I watched the movie in the first place.

The actors are good, but when the direction and writing is not good, they can't do much and their true skills and potential is far from realized.

The dialogues at times, are clearly very poorly written.

And it's no wonder - if you look at the Filmography of the Director, he has directed several films till now. If he was really a good one, we would have heard/known atleast one of this previous films.

Bad choices ruined an excellent subject.

The movie is collection of GEMS like actors ,director, story ,simplicity, songs ,locations, innocence and much more to admire

After a long time I saw a good content in Bollywood which is not a remake of any Hollywood or Tollywood movie..the director SRIJIT totally justified the story and made a good cinematic pleasure with great fusion of songs in deep jungle locations enhanced the movie further..minute details and messages in conversations between gangaram and jim were outclass

No words for PANKAJJI a standing ovation for his performance he deserves a national award for this movie even neeraj and sayani were very good

The icing on cake was the CLIMAX which was one of finest, hard ,and naked part of the movie

Out of the class movie.

It's Pankaj's movie all the way. His screen space might be more than 90% in the movie. He delivered justice to this role as if he is born to do this completely and without qualification. The story was quite simple and screenplaying that for almost 2 hours looks a bit stretched and boring. Sayani Gupta's dialogue delivery clearly showed that she was cast mistakenly or maybe, due to the budget issues. A better female cast who could speak Hindi in Bhojpuri accent with eloquence would help the movie. The conversations between Pankaj and Neeraj Kabi in the jungle were avowedly dead on target. The religions, castes, different practices but all melt down into nothingness at the end has been portrayed on screen mindblowingly unless the delicate sentiments of few people get hurt. A good one time watch movie that stresses your patience to discontinue with the slow screenplay but deal with it as the end is quite surprising.
