I went to see the premiere and was absolutely blown away! It was such an amazing production! Jeff Litfin plays such an incredible role as Steven Layton. It is quite a big and tough role but he did perfect! This movie is definitely a hit and hopefully can become an even bigger hit. The cast and crew did a spectacular job making this heart-touching film. Religious films, like Prodigal, are not very appealing to the teenage eye. Prodigal gets down to the point and it is very apparent that they understand the teenage mind. Levi, played by Dylan Borger, becomes a troubled teen. Not many films can understand why teens are the way they are but Prodigal definitely captured the nature of the teenage mind and Dylan did a great job of fulfilling his part. Prodigal is a great Christian based film and can show the real talent of hometown actors. I hope to see more from Lost Coin Productions! Great work!
I love Christian based films and was so glad to see another produced. There are not enough in my opinion. When I was introduced to this movie I was very excited and couldn't wait to see it. I really enjoyed this movie. The story line was very well thought out and well played. This movie offered a really good lesson and I was pleasantly surprised with the acting, each character was cast very well. Being able to recognize different places in Minnesota was really great, I love my state and the cities and I was really glad that the filming was done here. I enjoyed this production very much and hope to see more from Lost Coin Production. Keep up the good work! There are a lot of talented people in Minnesota!
I went with my wife to view the film's premiere. The thing that struck me was that the storyline was gripping from the start to the finish. There were no slow parts where I drifted off even momentarily. There were also many funny scenes which added a comedic element to the movie which is primarily a very dramatic storyline which had my wife in tears at the end. (it was dark, so I'll never reveal how it struck me). Technically, As a photographer, I was also impressed with the cinematography - great roll focus depth of field in most of the scenes, although not overdone either. The locations were also varied and fit the scenes that were in them. We overwhelmingly loved the movie and would love to see it again.
I must say I was truly impressed by the quality of the film. The characters were cast very well and the actors did a great job! This was not a cheeesy Christian film. I enjoyed the story, it had both drama and humor. (Actually got teary eyed at one point.) It deals with very real issues facing many people today. You did a great job with the characters and the reality of how people act in the world of drugs and alcohol. Had a "good message" of hope. Only criticism would be, may have had to develop "the return" a little more deeply. Other than that I felt this was a great movie. VERY WELL DONE!! GOOD JOB TO ALL OF YOU INVOLVED! Make some more of these types of movies, and I will pay to see them!
The acting was decent, but what I hated was how they made Tyler's decision to drive drunk as no big deal, all is forgiven. He killed his best friend and his dad presents him with a car and his mom makes his favorite meal? The realty is that in real life, their would be a tremendous amount of healing for both families to go through. When you make it all seem so simple, your just forgiven without showing the real life emotional consequences you make the Christian faith seem cheesy and out of touch. Throughout the film they embraced people who sinned, but they don't show the consequences. When you have a child outside of marriage, its hard on the mother (who we should support to have the child) and the child. When you drive drunk and someone dies, life doesn't simply just go on like nothing ever happened. I wish Christians would not characterize believers like everything always great even when it's not. It's a disservice and offensive to those outside the faith. Life is complicated and messy and sin has real consequences whether forgiveness is given or not. If you're going to deal with these issues, at least approach it honestly.
