Deepa & Anoop

Deepa and Anoop is an absolutely adorable kids show. Each episode is an adventure, often with something to for Deepa and her audience to learn. The characters are well-written and lovable, each one very unique. I personally loved the snobby/sassy tiger and the old school cool Grandpa. Many different kinds of humour for all ages to enjoy too. The episodes are really so much fun to watch. Hope to see more from this show and these actors!

Besides the bad Indian accents reminiscent of Simpson's Apu, show makes it seem that creators just googled "Indian Stereotypes" and made sure to weave every single one of them into the story. Actual quote from the show - "My Nani Ji says that spices have cure to all ailments!"

If the target audience is Indian-American kids, creators have completely missed the mark and are actually doing a disservice to the young minds. When I heard the characters I felt that they were trying to make fun in Indian accents but chalked it to me being overly sensitive. Then my kids(born in US) asked me if everyone in India has such funny accent?

The creators of this program showed reverence to Indian cultures. While another reviewer call Indian accents, "funny" many of us who grew up with it, know that the accents represent sophistication and eloquent use of language.

With Indian kids absent from Western TV this was a breath of fresh air, celebrating the beauty of culture and the closeness of family. This is very clear in the series.

The character of Nani-ji is both funny and a center of wisdom in the show. Deepa's adventures come from a well-meaning desire to help and a healthy curiosity about those around her. She is a wonderful character who holds a boundless unconditional love for her best friend, Anoop, who is more than a sidekick - a true co-star. In fact even a show-stealer. All the characters are loveable.
