This move is "Meh". It suffered from poor writing and not knowing what it was trying to be. Samara Weaving saved this movie from being tossed in the trash. They had Andy Garcia, & Steve Zahn, & failed to use them. The John (Her Blindspot) character was horrible.
Maybe I'm missing something, or fell asleep and didn't realize it, or just don't get the joke they were telling. So, I'm going to scour the review sights, and put up an episode of "Lunchbreak Reviews" on this! Let me know if you agree, disagree, or want to talk about it on the podcast!

Criminal at the age of 15, Edie has had a turbulent life.. but she got out. In a lapse of judgment, she visits her ex and becomes tangled into doing one more of those "do or die" kind of jobs.
Watched for Samara Weaving's charming performance (as always), but was surprised with a very competent script. It has a lot of setup, and the payoff isn't that grand.. but it is mostly about her character arc and it is satisfying to watch. It is simple and efficient.
Her "ex" character is awful, and unlikeable.. but the actor delivers exactly what is expected of him. Was also a bit surprised at Jermaine Fowler's performance.
I would recommend it every time (as a less flashy Baby Driver), but know that it probably would not work without the leading actress. She's just good.

As everyone else said, Samara Weaving was good. Her performance, the action scenes, and Andy Garcia are the only decent parts of this movie. The premise is as durable as truck stop toilet paper. Edie's boyfriend John has ZERO redeeming qualities. His actions, dialogue, and demeanor genuinely made me mad for the entire watch. I think if this movie had been tweaked a little bit it could have been decent. But I don't expect much from the Hollywood writers rooms these days. Don't go out of your way to watch this movie but if you don't have anything else to watch I suppose it's a decent time filler.
This movie tries to be everything and ends up as a convoluted mess. Samara's acting is solid as always, in fact most of the cast performs well, but the script is so derivative there's no saving it. I hope Samara goes back to only working on amazing scripts cause all her other movies are awesome. We will see.
Eenie Meanie is a Hulu heist comedy-thriller that aims high but lands somewhere in the middle of the road.
Directed and written by Shawn Simmons, it stars Samara Weaving as Edie, a former teenage getaway driver forced back into crime to rescue her deadbeat ex-boyfriend John (Karl Glusman) from a dangerous predicament.
The plot kicks off with promise - sharp car chases, F-bomb-laden banter, and a talented ensemble including Andy Garcia, Steve Zahn, and Randall Park - but it quickly devolves into a convoluted mess of genre shifts from silly action to forced relationship drama.
Weaving shines as always, injecting grit and charisma into her role, making Edie the film's saving grace. The supporting cast delivers solid laughs in spots, but the script feels derivative, borrowing heavily from films like Baby Driver without the style or soul.
Pacing drags in the middle, with unnatural dialogue and unlikable side characters undermining the thrills. It's packed with violence that sometimes mistakes brutality for humor, and the ending, while twisty, feels underwhelming.
Overall, at 5.5/10, it's a decent 2 screen watch - perfect for half-attentive viewing while multitasking. Not a must-see, but harmless background fodder for a lazy evening.
