I think a lot of user reviewers are mocking the diverse cast. I know I'm not the target audience since I like more action and less relationship drama. True, it's a young cast and some of the acting needs more polishing and experience. The scripts seem to be improving which is good IMO. I'm at ep6 watching right now. It's interesting to me to see the indigenous culture surviving after centuries of colonization. I'm hoping the season finale is as good.
There is an Australian series called Royal Flying Doctor Service. Same premises, but the Australian is so much better. If I were you I'd skip this one and watch Royal Flying Doctor Service instead.
I really like the setting of this show, a primarily indigenous presumably far-north area in Canada. I like that the characters are a range of personalities, backgrounds, and histories. There are characters who are people of color, who are gay, who are Black, who are white, who are indigenous. I'm sorry for the people here who find that mix too "woke", and not white enough for them. I think it adds a great deal to the show.
I don't particularly care, though, for the fact that the characters often don't have each other's backs, and do a lot of sniping at each other.
Other reviews have mentioned glaring inaccuracies in the medical pieces of the plot line, which I have no expertise to address, but it's something to be aware of if you watch this series.
There are also disconnections in the plots. Something will happen in the opening of an episode that clearly needs medical attention, then they cut to the opening credits and the incident is never mentioned again. Weird. The plots are primarily about the budding relationships among the various characters.
Lastly, a number of reviews compare this show to the Australian version - I agree that overall that show is better done.

I was very excited to watch the first few episodes and see the northern landscape and an attempt at showing the remoteness and isolation. The romantic melodramatic interludes aren't interesting. I find it odd that all the cast are young and confused yet heroic. Only one character, an Uncle is over 30 but we don't meet him until episode 5. I like how the show nightlight problems and issues in communities. I feel the the writers have run out of things to happen so they create mini romance interludes and these are not interesting. I enjoyed the episodes where they dealt with a crisis and helped out. I like hearing native languages spoken. I don't think the writers know whether to make this a northern Bay Watch or an adventure show.
But feeble writing. I had high hopes for this series-- Canadian production set in the North with many First Nations actors. It touches only lightly on some really important issues, and the interpersonal drama is sophomoric. I'd like to see the characters and their relationships with more depth than just a series of hook-ups.
Why are community people just background who seem to just mill around for the most part. Living where they do, there should be issues with water quality, costs of goods and services, and fuel. The corporate politics are right, but the investigations seem pretty feeble. I'm only at episode 5, so perhaps I'll have reason to improve my rating in a few more issues.
