One for the soul!

Watching films with high expectations usually ends in disappointment but this one went above my expectation.

Tharun Moorthys previous film was one of my all time favourite films so going into this one i expected nothing less than a brilliant film.

Although there are some pacing issues in the first half of the film overall the movie makes up for it.

Performance was good and to the point from everyone but one person who deserve more praise is that amma who played that Ayishumma, what a performance.

Music was good, especially the one Job Kurian sang, ufff that song was something else, the pain just gets to you.

This movie will haunt you long after you finish watching it.

A disheartening yet heartwarming movie.

From the makers of Operation Java, comes Saudi Vellakka, a film very different from the first one, a film that has seemingly nothing and yet A LOT. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Mollywood storytelling has a tendency to make great films out of a regular daily life story and this is one such.

I don't want to say anything about the plot, but here's what I can say - apparently based on a true story, this is a disheartening yet heartwarming movie w/ commentary on the judicial system and how petty squabbles and personal agendas have long lasting effects on people in ways that we may not know.

Acting, writing, music - great job! This is an example of how you don't need big names to make a GOOD film as long as the story is great. It has nothing overtop, no heroics, no fan-service, and yet, you'd have the satisfaction of having watched a movie that gives you something to take away. Surely watch this one!

Outstanding

One of the best movies ! Beautifully executed. Content was superb. Very relevant .Wish this movie goes places. Just an outstanding performace from the leading old lady !! Subtle and restrained! Lawyer was good as well with his mannersims. Binu Pappus contribution was good too. Most artists did their part well. Excellent back ground score. A simple theme but with great impact. There should be a screening session arranged for judges and lawyers and wish to see this as Indias entry to the festivals. Trials and fights against the system. Story seem to be taken from a real life incident and hats off to the entire team to adapt it to screen. The only negative possibly is with the 'Title'. While it may be relevant to the content, with a different title, possibly could have drawn more people to theatres who kept themselves watching big screen on account of the title.

Just wow....

What an amazing movie. I went into the movie without knowing anything about the movie and I think this is definitely one of the best malayalam movies that has come out this year. The movie is a courtroom procedural drama to a large extent. What the movie does amazingly is portray such amazing, likable and compelling characters. Amazing performance by debutant devi varma, what an acting. Sujith shankar was awsome, very different character from his previous projects. Danya annanya, binu papu, gokulan, all put forward such amazing performance. The writing is just amazing. I belive tharun moorthy is going to be one of the best writter director in malayalam cinema in comming years. All the technical departments did a great job. Camera work was so amazing. Many shots were designed to make the audience feel they are in middle of all the chaos happening in the courtroom. The movies main plot tries to show the how slow the indian judicial system works, one of the malayalam movie that released previously this year "naa thaan case kodu" Also deals with a similar subject, but I feel this movie conveys it more Efficienctly. Usually court room dramas are thrillers, which try to show secrets of a case revealing in a court, but this movie is very different, they show everything in the beginning as to what had happened, the movie instead tries to show the senslessness caused by simple egos between people and the suffering people go through due to such big and lengthy procedures in the court. I can praise a lot of things in the movie. Definitely a must watch according to me.

A Must watch

SaudiVellakka

Brilliant movie the best film of the year for me, superb portrayal of human values and emotions, the climax was so beautiful that felt like I went to a boffey, Highly recommended, please do watch it guys One of the best Malayalam films to come not just in recent times but for ages. Tharun Moorthy takes a simple but a complex plot to weave human emotions around it to deliver a classic. An earnest sophomore outing, reflecting upon a relevant topic of concern that cripples our judicial system, which relies heavily on the performances of its ensemble.

Just set apart everything else and watch this beautiful film.

heart full touch

JOURNEY OF UMMA That stoles the heart. It shows how a life connected to one another. Realistic and touching work DARK SHADE OF PLACE SHOWS LIMITED knowledge of people lives in saudhi kochi.

Umma britto sathar abhilash All are the bench mark of literary poor society. THERE IS NO COLORFULLNESS DIRECTOR THARUN MOORTHY CAPTURE TO HARD HITTING TALE OF lives.

The value of humanity is realised by the work.

Gokulan is a simbolic representative of law. THIS MOVIE SHOW THAT LOTS AND LOTS OF CASES TILL PENDING ONCOURT FOR JUDGEMENT AND THE AFTER EFFECT FACED BY COMMON PEOPLE. Music and camera also the backbone of work.

Exceptional performance and direction

The movie is a truly heart-wrenching and emotional masterpiece that shone a light on the current state of the Indian judicial system. The acting was top-notch, with every single actor giving it their all and delivering powerful performances.

This movie was an emotional rollercoaster that left me feeling deeply moved by the exceptional acting and heart-touching storyline. The actors truly embodied their characters and brought their emotions to life on the screen, making it easy to become fully immersed in the film. The plot was both poignant and thought-provoking, tackling themes of love, loss, and the human experience in a way that was both raw and honest. Overall, this was a very touchy and moving film that left a lasting impact on me.

Brilliant, Nothing more to express!

What an awesome movie, really heat touched moments makes far better and the characters was amazing there weren't just acting they are living throughout the movie. From the beginning till end scripts has a role in this film. Ayisha Rawatar played by Devi Varma , this the the first time I seen in a movie and can't tell this was her first movie. Again there , no words to express the talents like Lukman, Binu pappu, and all the actors. Most of them are new faces , especially the character boss. It's a sandwich with all elements funny, sentimental, family , etc .

Soul: Definitely our police and courts need to improve their efficiency little better to avoid such kinds of incidents,

Good topic, slow drama, over acting

First thing that stand out is over acting in the name of realism by some of the actors. How ever Binu pappu, lukman , first judge, gokulan vakkeel and his mom have done well.

Second half is heart touching and you would really feel for the lead role umma.

This is more of a serious drama about people getting dragged in to endless delays of the law and order system. There is not much humor as such and what ever humor they attempted didn't workout.

The umma's son (maheshinte prathikaram villain ) trying to act as a innocent pavam guy was terrible. The villain guy , police SI and umma's sons wife and many others were shouting the dialogs mostly and was irritating.

Such a beautiful movie

I just started watching the movie without knowing the story behind it. In between i googled to see the rating. Then I resumed watch the movie. Wow! What a movie, the real events captured very beautifully. This is what happening in real life. Amazing movie, each character gave their best. Even my brother has a case which the court just dragging from last 5 years. Can't they speedup the procedure? These are the black marks of Indian constitution, these things to be changed. Beautifully screened in this movie, emotional one. Such a beautiful movie, everyone one must watch. A family entertainment movie.

Relevant. But as a movie, not impressed

The movie deals with a very relevant topic and it is portrayed realistically. The reality is shown with 100% sincerity. However as a movie watch watcher, did I like it? Sadly, no. The movie is too slow and painfully dragging. The background noise is good at some occasions, whereas at several instances felt unpleasant. Also, too many cross talking between characters, background noises, too many unwanted characters here and there, etc. Makes the movie-watching a very unpleasant experience for me. May be those elements were added deliberately for getting the perfection, however at some point felt those a bit too much for me! Overall, the movie is a good effort in drawing our attention towards a very serious flaw in our system, however as a movie lover, failed to impress me due to 'too much' realistic elements.

Must watch movie

Saudi Vellakka...A beautiful and deeply touching movie in which the director manages to keep the audience engaged all the time. The greatest merit of the movie is where the butterfly effect is brilliantly portrayed throughout the movie...small inconspicuous actions or words we use in our everyday interaction with society and dear ones can have far reaching consequences for decades . Nagging ,egging , mocking, insulting etc can break humans and relationships. And yet humanities greatest assets- mercy, compassion and hope can mend things like no other.

Tharun Moorthy has given great attention to details in almost everything- subtlety in social interaction, subtlety in human physiology(sleep apnea symptoms, syncope, depression, age changes etc) subtlety in language.

Though the cinema seems to enthrall the audience with a thread of melancholic gloom- humour resulting from natural human and bureaucratic weakness and flaws chuckles us up now and then and towards the end a sigh of relief is achieved for most us as the climax is reached .

Beautiful craft

This movie was very enjoyable for me. Content- and performance-wise, this movie is one of the best you'll watch this year. It had nice moments that kept me engaged the entire time. I would recommend it to anyone who likes these types of movies with a lot of drama. Casting was also a key element for the movie. Each and every actor plays their part well, especially Ayisha Umma.

With two films that are diametrically opposite in tone and storytelling approach, Tharun Moorthy has proven himself to be a filmmaker who likes taking risks. His first feature, Operation Java, was a risky endeavour that nobody expected to do that well, but it succeeded beyond expectations.

Aren't there so many humans?" "No.. there are so many people ".

What fun people.. what fun to see the relationships of those people... the pain of isolation and the happiness contained in a small smile and the long wait.. the realization at the end.. what will be shown on the screen in two and a half hours.. get to know the people.. wait for the relationships... sometimes forgive some mistakes.. Add it to other times and confess it.. because in such a small world only we humans have such a size.. only our minds.

Watch only with your heart... Thank you Tharun Moorthy. For giving me the best movie of the year.. for ending this story with two of the best men.

Really good movie

Slow but good story line. Sentimental with satisfying ending. Really enjoyed it.

Overview: Abhilash Sasidharan receives a summons warrant to appear in court for a case from his childhood. Desperate to learn the truth, he finds a small conflict snowballed into a larger one that changed the lives of everyone involved.

Saudi Vellakka examines the Indian Legal System through the journey of its characters. A rollercoaster ride of human emotions beautifully interwoven with the stark realities of the Indian Legal System.

Ultimately, Saudi Vellakka is an emotionally impactful film that makes an earnest call for a more responsive justice system.

worth watching more than reviewing

Saudi Vellakka is not even worth reviewing but better experienced watching.

When we thought Tharun Moorthy blew us away with 'Operation Java', here he came with a totally different storytelling exploring the deepest parts of human relations with a sprinkle of humor on a dish of seriousness.

The themes of forgiveness, injustice, bitterness, karma, endurance, fraternity, and kindness spoke to all of us. We ALMOST cried!

It was a stellar work from start to finish, from crew to cast.

We'll just leave you with this quote from the film to give you a sense of what to expect "Humanity is an ocean, if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty" Bravo👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

MASTERPIECE... !!!

An accurate portrayal of how law and the courtroom function at the grass root level. I was particularly moved by the performance of old mother character named Ayesha Ravdar. Her emotional impact was strong throughout the film, she didn't say much but what she expressed was powerful and truly justified. Simple and sublime court drama interlaced with nifty humor, at the same time throwing light on the bureaucratic hurdles of the common man, this story is capitally gripping. Hats off!

Again, the character Ayesha played by the old lady was top-notch, she said it all through her expressions.

Phenomenal and natural performances by all. Congratulations to the crew and the team you guys did a fantastic job.

This movie don't deserve stars rating, only pure LOVE and Respect from a Pakistani self-proclaimed critic.

Interesting plot but dragged

Another movie based on court case on small issue involving an Old lady. The premise was good and first half of movie went on good pace. The manner in which the old ladys son and his friend try everything to get her bail was interesting. The second half is a let down. Second half is dragged with too many court visits. So many other cases are shown in between which doesn't add anything to main story. Second half is just about old woman visiting court on every hearing and getting another court date. It's becomes boring after some times. The climax was good with emotional touch. The old lady faints many times but nothing happens to her.

Must watch master piece...

An outstanding masterpiece that walks you parallely through the pathetic state of judicial system in our country and the essence of being humane !! The movie subliminally grows on you when each character gradually weaves in and finally soaks us in the very soft core of humanity , leaving our eyes moist and brimming... Outstanding and soulful performance by Aisha Rowthar (Devi Varma) !!!! Her reticence speaks volumes ...so does each and every character that depicts the haplessness and at times the crudeness of a commoner. The entire team and crew deserves a standing ovation !!!

Obeisance to the director 🙏

One of the Most Heart touching film in the recent times

Saudi Vellakka is one of the most heart touching movies in Malayalam cinema in the recent past.

The story is the king in the movie. The acting performances and film making have beautifully aided in brilliantly conveying the story to audiences.

Aishumma will break your heart and quench your soul at the same time. A must watch Movie.

Writer and director Tharun Moorthy has done an exceptionally good job and proved himself to be a talent to be watched out for in Malayalam Cinema.

This movie is a perfect example for the brilliant writing that makes Malayalam movies stand out amongst other language movies.

Great and heart touching movie

This movie is tops my list of movies made in India. It has shown the reality of our courts and their awful impact on simple people, during the trial. I had tears in my eyes in most parts of the movie. The roles were very well written, be it the son of the old lady, the friend of him, the boy or the old lady herself. The resilience of the old lady is the strongest attribute I have seen in most of the movies with related themes. I will suggest that this movie should be watched along with the family. Everyone was perfect in the roles they were assigned... An absolute gem of Cinematic landscape. Loved it!!!

Life is......

If you think life is heavy and your heart is feeling weighed and miserable, this one is simply the best to relate with. It has allkind of emotions that will embrace you.

Everyone 'each characters' are portrayed with so much detailing, one feelis like is that me or i have seen some one like that, yes that is what this one had done to me. There are moments of joy, moments that make your tears drop, makes you feel like 'i wanna live one more time'.

Its my personal favorite so far this year.

Its a fascinating way to look and experience the overflow of emotions.

Highly recommend you all to watch it.
