Was waiting to watch this movie with a lot of interest. Went quite well for most part. But the last quarter of the movie is a big let down. Both the leads have played their role well. The biggest let down however was this cliche subject of well to do versus the not well to do. The depiction of the well to do being merciless to the not too well to do is pretty old now, and honestly not correct at present times. The issue of mental health could also have been highlighted nicely, but again gets affected by this cliche. Apart from the leads there at not many noteworthy performances. Was left disspointed at the end.
A well constructed plot bringing to light the deplorable conditions of commoners who suffer not merely the neglect of society but also the insolence of the affluent. It's a sad theme that's woven into the plot and you get to feel melancholy but not even for a moment there's overstatement of the issue in question. A thought that's beautifully underscored in the film is that the economically disadvantaged not always look for money, they aren't for sure enticed by it, it is acceptance and fair treatment they yearn for. In the present times, this is a much needed movie for a generation that's driven by materialism and has an overinflated sense of self. The character depth is exceptional in the movie to keep you engaged throughout. The cast has done justice to the roles they've essayed and in short the movie is an eye-opener to a generally apathetic society. Aptly titled 'Aneethi' the movie sends a strong message that there's more to life than deep pockets. If there's a downside to the film, it's the slasher moments towards the end. However, you needn't pay attention to it.
I know loneliness is an evitable process in human life. But it could have been dealt differently. That Grandmother could have dealt her loneliness differently by helping the poor, being in need for the people around her, helping an old age home, meeting with people in her age group and also kindly treating the girl who helps her. From the beginning itself she should have treated that girl kindly. Living with grand kids and living with the family is an amazing thing. But also spending alone time is an important aspect of life. Self-adequacy will teach us many things in our life. If our emotional needs are not met in one aspect of life, there is also multiple aspects of life where our emotional needs could have been met.
There is no use or a great deal put by director Vasan Balan to understand the philosophy around mental health. The theme is explored in a mediocre or cliche driven ways by the filmmaker. I somehow managed to like the first half and it felt like it didn't matter which ephemeral side of 'good' or 'bad' but a grey line - the only method, only conclusion for Thiru (Arjun Das) here is depicted as a weapon of "justice' is explored and keeps things somehow going. But the 2nd half was so bad with usual templates, forced characters, stupid dialogues, run-around-the-mill flashback and disappointing climax. The film starts like a flashback and it comes in full circle in the ending.
Don't fall for my previous note, it was so funny that each characters leads to a series that provides moments of buffoonery viewing pleasure. The twist of the rich lady transferring the property to the maid was so disjointed and the rich vs poor issue lacked depth and so many things felt forced in the narrative. Only the lead Arjun Das is the saving grace and he owns this broken up mess of a film in the entire runtime.
I see he movie is rated 9 star ratings currently and there is no way the ratings are genuine. Please don't fall for the fake reviews regardless of the director previous outings.

Yes, the movie wasn't that good in general cause of poor actors acting and a little bit bad writing, and yes the ending wasn't something we wished for or waited for, but still somehow this movie stays in mind and deserves a chance. Am giving 8/10 only for the Thiru character and it's deep emotional struggles, an emotion that at some point in life visits many of us humans.
Arjun Das rocking as always with his perfect acting talent! Arjun made me feel different emotions and feelings that makes me perfectly understand his character and it's depth. A man that has raged emotions toward humans in general, but at the same time a child feeling that misses the only person whom understood him ever and how hard his life gets while holding back in order to fit the society. I felt all of that with just one look into Arjun Das eyes while performing. With his acting he delivered all these feelings and made me through Thiru broken heart and sad life completely. Super acting from a talented Actor🙌🏻!
