Cringe worthy

It's like an accident that you cannot help but look at. These people are all very beautiful but the in-fighting kills me. How do you treat friends this way?

The most cringe worthy was how it was stated in the first episode that they are rich and how they want to show the world that they are not part of third world countries 😲

I hope they all donate to worthy causes in Africa.

I'm proud of this!!!

I won't say it's the best show but I love it. Finally a show about Africa which isn't about poverty and hunger!

I'm a filmmaker, so I'm enjoying the best of cinematography and editing. The Drama is too notch, my first ever reality show to complete. My wife was even shocked because that's her thing and for me to even recommend to her.

If you want to see a different side of Africa, just watch!

The directors need to do better

There's so much I wanna say about this latest season but first and foremost season 1 was way much better, season 2 was not bad but seriously heavily lacking and almost borderline boring/stupid. I blame the new personalities they invited into the show/group. Let's start of with Luis, can I have a Namibian tell me how to pronounce this man's name cause why were ppl calling him all sorts of diff things, Lewis, Louie, Lewish, Louise, I was so confused; anywho this man was just too fresh off the water, for someone who isn't known outside of the deserts of Namibia he came off so pretentious and bold in the beginning as if he's been doing this since day one, this is his debut and he was walking on paws of ppl who are known all over africa and experts in their field, closer to the end I felt sorry for him because you can't even blame him. Then there's fantana, they clearly only added her and Luis cause ppl had been complaining where's the young in young famous and African but who is she??? Cause no one in Ghana knows who u are. The second she spoke and I heard the American accent I was so confused cause I thought the show would be Africans born and raised who made it in africa. But that's not even the issue, her entire mannerism and behavior was so American it was just pissing me off like pls don't let thsi girl come back, when she started correcting zaris English I was pissed cause here's someone who speaks at least 6 languages and taught diamond English and you out here being disrespectful. She was just out yapping her mouth n carrying American values to a place that don't give a f3ck. I think bonangs issue was just miscommunication cause everyone in the show was just gossiping n u can see them lying to each other or twisting what someone else said. I find it funny that they brought in Sebo and Rosette when Bonang left when they should've brought them in since the beginning of season 2. Annie's stylist should be fire. Zarinah Hassan stay being a queen. Diamond is the devil. Swanky year of fame getting to his head. Khanyi should just stay in Dubai cause it don't even look like she interested in continuing with a season 3. Everyone else lowkey irrelevant.

NOT IMPRESSED

The show made me feel annoyerd the way the girls ganged up on Zari was unreal. She truely is a boss lady, and she showed class. Those other girls were trying so hard. The most boring bits were Annie scenes and her negativity. Promoting bullying.

Boring

I was so excited for this show. I thought I was going to see some lavish parties with a little drama. But all they showed was the guys talking about how much they cheat on their girlfriends and wives and have a ton of babies with other women. They all had the same story. So boring.

Young Fake and African

Too much superficial anecdotes and surprisingly not enough raw content. All the characters flash bling that is not theirs and pretend to have it all when in fact they aint got s#!t.

The portrayals of these characters lacked one fundamental aspect to making this show work, that is real GO GETTERS in the likes of South Africa's own rapper and glitz man CASPPER NYOVEST. Had he been cast the show would have had depth and the content would make the FAMOUS part of the title be an equal measure of PROSPERITY. This show doesn't even give the audiences a glimpse of what all these people's claim to fame. Sorry but poor content.

Excess-African Style

The show is giving us drama with a capital D. A different über glamorous world entirely and seeing how some live in Sandton Town Johannesburg (where this is set), one can easily compare it to Selling Sunset. Especially with the styling, the flash homes, the luxury cars, romances etc etc. There are some characters here that are TV gold!! Nadia the rapper, Annie the long suffering cute wife a former actress and Naked the famous DJ whose tongue is sharper than a blade and who swanks TWENTY FOUR SEVEN. These three cast members are absolutely hilarious and I enjoyed watching them in action. Not sure if the storyline is a reality TV fantasy or facts but either way, it's highly entertaining and fun.

Don't take it seriously

One of the silliest shows I've seen in awhile. However, I don't feel like it's trying to hide how ridiculous it is, which means that it's fun. It's incredibly chaotic and I cannot keep track of what's going on (perhaps I'd struggle less if I knew the South African context better). There could have been a clearer narrative for dumb Westerners like me who have no idea who any of these people are. And there's some gross sexism displayed by male cast members that it would have been nice to unpack a bit more. But overall, am I entertained? YES. And the cliffhanger at the end of S1 is unreal. I need to know what happens next, please and thank you!

Negative people

They are all beautiful, and its good to see successful black women and men on the screen. However, the attitude of every one but zari, is just sour and petty. They are all so hypocritical and just nah. I would have enjoyed this show if they weren't to make the good hearted one out to be the enemy.

Loved this !! When is Season 2?

TBH not a reality show fan, but binged watched the season. Wonderful to see beautiful Sistahs and handsome brothers gracing the screen. Each personality is unique and different. I truly enjoyed the transparency. I laughed, teared up and enjoyed every moment. Well done, congratulations and Thank you for creating this for us to enjoy. Xx.

Glad to see this

I am so happy that this exists however the involvement and sensitivity of most of the cast has thrown me but.... More shows like this will allow us to better understand the cultures.

Utter garbage

Each second I'm exposed to this makes me feel more and more empty inside. It's completely, utterly devoid of any substance or meaning. When you have watched an episode of this, you have watched nothing at all. Nihilistic "entertainment".

The wohle show is on a new level of FAKE trash entertaiment!

From my point of view, this is one of the most pointless and meaningless reality shows in history. The whole show is actually rubbish. It's about people who constantly fight because of too big egos, who have lost touch with reality and never seem to have learned to talk with each other. Even the smallest misunderstandings lead directly to a huge drama. Actually, I can't say what the show is about at all, because everyone is constantly b*tching at each other. My wife is from Tanzania (East Africa) just like Diamond Platnumz and she is ashamed that these people on Netflix represent a part of the African population.

Although everyone in the group talks about friendship and family all the time, the group only has arguments, gossip, negative energy, and lies. They don't even sit together and have a nice chat. Within a few minutes, there are always allegations and someone verbally attacks someone else. They don't behave like friends/family, but like prisoners who have to share a prison cell in a prison and as a viewer you don't even know why these people spend time together if it's not just about profiting from the other's popularity somehow.

In addition, some of the characters seem to live in a kind of parallel universe. They twist narratives, events, deny responsibility despite guilty and act like they are rich SUPERstars and A-celebrities, despite the fact that very little official information can be found about them online. Above all, Swanky (Jeremiah Ogbodo) attracted particularly negative attention with his haughty, arrogant, manipulative and not self-reflective manner. His behavior towards Luis Munana in particular was ridiculous and repugnant and when he claimed it was Luis' own fault if people thought he was evil because he didn't fight back enough, I almost exploded. More victim blaming is almost impossible.

Bunch of small minds discussing people

(Average minds discuss events, great minds discuss ideas.)

What utter tripe this show is. I was hoping to see an actual glimpse of their lives, what did these people do to -supposedly- become so successful?

All I'm seeing is trashy clothing, trashy make-up, trashy conversation, and constant fighting and drama of adults. When does it end?

Did they try to replicate Jerry Spinger? Is half of it not scripted?

Why on earth would any one voluntarily want to be around these people?

Also, the fact that they seem to think constantly drinking Moët & Chandon is the epitomy of a luxury lifestyle lmao. Moët is trash champagne for wannabees, everybody knows this. Netflix also knows this, so this has me thinking this is a set up to make Africa look even worse, not better.

Shame on you Netflix.

The Nigerian crowd are the worst, I think these people's IQ's start with a komma.

Good grief.

No Authenticity

Last thing I want to watch is a bunch of fake drama on people who want to pretend they're American or first world culture. Take your money and build up your country instead of pretending to be African. It's a disgrace to even relate yourself to the majority of African's who are dying, need basic aid, water and food. Act your culture - you'll never be A-list.

Don't judge a book by its cover!

Africa's primary widespread stereotype is that it is a dangerous, dark, violent, impoverished, and dismal continent. I love how this series contradicts that cliché. As affluent African celebrities congregate in Johannesburg, we observe. Watching this bunch experience their highs and lows kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I treasure all of the extravagant residences and attire. Zari, Nadia, and Khanyi are all very popular with me. They serve as excellent figures for women, showing them to be self-assured, honest, ambitious, and wonderful friends. I am really excited about the upcoming season.

Drama and Pretension Galore!

If you're a fan of over-the-top drama and pretentious characters, then this might be the show for you. The dinner parties are cringe-worthy, with adults screaming at each other across the table for laughably childish reasons. At times, it feels like a scripted soap opera, but if you're into that sort of thing, you might find yourself emotionally invested by the end. And, kudos to the characters - they're absolute fashion killers! The outfits are stunning, the dialogue is sharp, and the drama is non-stop. If you're looking for a guilty pleasure, this might be it. Just be prepared for some intense moments and questionable life choices. Enjoy!

No to Fantana

I loved the first season. Annie, Khanyi & Zari and Andile are stellar characters but this addition of Fantana depreciates the whole show. If I wanted to watch Love & Hip Hop I would, and I don't. Luis is a great addition to the cast but again Fantana cheapens the entire season. It's a shame as I was looking forward to this. The stories are interesting and a bit deeper than last especially with the addition of Luis and his backstory. It's good to hear more about stories origin as well well each character's country's traditions. The styles are even more elevated this season with the original cast and Luis and wigs are elevated for sure. Please steer clear of the LHH model with this show, it bring down the entire value.

Great Images of Africans and Beautiful Production

I really love, love this series!!! I love the story line and how family was at the core and resolving their issues individually but remaining intact as family & friends. I actually enjoyed this more then some of the "US Reality Shows". I also loved how well the filming was done the opulence was very exquisite and tasteful. I wish there were more episodes and I can't wait for session 2 with 10-12 episodes.

South Africa Johannesburg is on my bucket list to see it all of the beauty.

Excessive unnecessary drama

There was a lot of things that went on in this show that was not needed. Why must everything be so dramatic. The casting was nice but the storyline, plot and drama going on was just unnecessary at some point. At some point it felt like most of the arguments going on were just for views, like would you really treat your friends that way in real life.

I wonder what is going on now behind the cameras. It feels so cringe to watch all the fights, drama and a few crocodile tears going on which makes me wonder how the cast felt after watching it.

The director and writer need to do a better job in future shows.

Ah-Mazing

It's 2:30 am and I literally just binged all 7 episodes. Every time I said I would go to sleep the episode would drag me in more and more. And that last episode; WHOA! I am a black American and I've always had an interest in South Africa and this certainly did not disappoint. It's was glitz, glamor, drama all rolled into one series. And did I mention how gorgeous every single person was! I loved everything about it.

Unique and different

Their reaction is more uplifting and unique than the US shows for a change. All the characters did well with the exception of Zari whom I found was artificially looking to get people into trouble.
