              Hm... upgrades

Let's face it, the 2006 one was very short of being perfect. How do you follow up to something relatively simple yet incredibly effective, that allowed people to get fit in their home at any time, with many cool and enjoyable activities? You add to it. Apart from that, this minorly adjusts things, some purely aesthetic changes(I think the familiar grey-scale trainer gets a different color shirt, and possibly a new hairdo), and includes new features, such as the MET(telling you the degree of fat-burning of the exercise you've chosen before you start) and calorie counts(estimating the number that you've worked off), and the Check(a thing where you are told what food you have worked off the gain of), the Routine aspect(where you can select one of the 12 specific ones that are designed to train certain areas of the body, choose ones for yourself, and with either, it will estimate the amount of time it will take to finish, or have this make up one for you, determined by how long you want to go for... the downside is that it does not appear to include how well you do in the top ten when you do them this way, and that may dissuade the competitive types), new test challenges, and a thing or two that has nothing to do with this, but is really nothing other than showing off the(admittedly definitely impressive) technology, like pet and baby weighing, and a scales mini-game. Anyway, this brings 21 new imaginative things that you can do, three Yoga and Muscle, and 15 Plus ones, bringing the total to 69. In other words, this does not come with as much not seen before as the original version, and if you've already got that, paying the same for this might be a little excessive(it can use the data from it, however, so you get to keep your records); then again, if you don't have it, then I'd suggest you buy this, and you'll get all that it had as well as all there is in this. Nothing in Wii-Fit is messed with here(meaning, it also doesn't fix the potential thing or two). It still warns you about straining, gives great advice, tells you when you ought to take a break and such. The cycling instructions somewhat contradict themselves, so I will now proceed to try to translate and summarize them: If you want to do well in it, you are to try to find the shortest distance that enables you to get all the flags, and if you want to lose weight, you can just kick loose, pedal around and explore(you can use the map that is in the manual to aid you in that) Wuhu(possibly one of the Hawaiian islands, one of the good ones, with no lepers on it, though it does have plenty of people cheering you on, and a dog that loves to run alongside you), which is where a handful of the things take place(you may know it from the Jogging of the first game). This does perhaps go a little far trying to come up with stuff you can do, and it gets to the point where it almost draws attention to the limitations that the Balance Board and Wii-Mote do have(don't get me wrong, they're amazing, revolutionizing game-play, and I for one prefer this console over any other Next Gen one, you can keep your superior graphics), in that a lot of them are quite similar to the ones already there. Then again, they're both used to give you the opportunity to do marvelous things. Want to juggle? Can't make it work? Nintendo has the answer. Skateboard and do tricks? Yup, present. A snowball fight in Summer? Look no further. Golf, driving a Segway(tm)... wanna flap your arms up and down to fly? ...stop laughing! I'm not joking, here, you can. Among my personal favorites are Rhythm Kung-Fu(!) and -Parade, where your timing is put to the test, and scoring a Perfect can grant you purely awesome moving images as your reward. Heck, it's nearly impossible to say anything negative about this. There are no real downsides. The programming is solid, I haven't found a single bug or glitch, and it'll tell you if it didn't read you properly, so you can have it do so again. And it is all so much fun! You'll be so darn entertained that you might go to confession or something, because you'll feel like you aren't allowed to without somehow paying for it. You can work on your balance, hand-eye-coordination, reflexes, and any part of yourself that you wish to tighten up and improve. The tone is light and non-confrontational, encouraging you without any hint of judgment, and yet without lying. In this, you know, with few exceptions, when and what you do right or wrong, without this at any time berating you. For all the cute visuals(well-animated and nicely designed, and with more astonishing sights this time around, often being triggered by you doing well at something in this) and inherent sweetness, this does not talk down to the player at any time, and the humor is not insulting to those who are no longer 7. The camera is dynamic and never disappoints or confuses you. This comes as close as we can to transcending cultural and age(you can play this no matter how old you are, if you are at least 3) boundaries, is entirely inoffensive, the "violence" is cartoony and not disturbing, rather, it's used for comedy(with that said, you may want to look away at times if you have a fear of heights) and this is all based on the joy that we all feel from moving. If you can get a Wii, the BB and this, and you already have a TV, you can get into this, regardless of your previous experience with video-games. I recommend this to everyone. No, I mean that. Whether your interest in this is for recreational or serious purposes. 8/10
