Juf Braaksel en de magische ring

My son (and I) loved the books and we have just finished another one, so we were looking forward to see the film.

My son thought it was OK-isch, but as an adult it was disappointing.

Mainly because of the bad acting skills of the actors: especially the kids, but everyone really. It was terrible, as is the case more often with Dutch productions. It felt like most the children were acting for the first time in their life.

The casting didn't always match the caracters in the books, eg. Juf Braaksel.

They story itself was fun, but I hope they will different actors for the sequels that might come and put more focus on the acting and the dialogues.

The acting is downright terrible, a lot of the jokes don't land, the acting is just downright embarrissing and the story feels like it was written by a child. For parents with young children, its fun. But for others, its bad, extremely bad. Its not just bad, its also way too predictable. Short story long, its a terrible movie with terrible acting and a terrible storyline and terrible jokes. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone that isn't a child or toddler, i would even go as far to say that nobody would go out and see this movie. Its just not worth your time, exept if you're a child but its still not worth it.

When you watch it as a child, it's absolutely great! A funny exciting film with Djamila. Many children will like this. No really scary elements, so even for young children.

As a parent watching: looks a lot like Mathilda and Meester Kikker with a touch of Home Alone. Nicolette van Dam is, in my opinion, a bit miscast. She's too young and not evil looking enough. For example, you expect a Nelly Frijda there. Anyway, an entertaining film and more paced than a film like, for example, de Slijm films.

The only criticism I have is that it has many elements of existing films and it lacks real fun jokes. Entertaining film for the kids.
