Sunray: Fallen Soldier

Yes, a truly courageous film, but for so many reasons. When you have actual Royal Marines Veterans portraying characters, some of whom have PTSD you have to realise that these guys have done this for real, lost friends for real, woken up in the middle of the night in cold sweats for real, sat before psychologists and had their memories picked apart and brought bubbling back to the surface like an angry hot volcanic lava and all for real. So I applaud the courage it must have taken to make this film.

My wife and I enjoyed it immensely, it was gritty and action-packed where it needed to be and also deeply moving, melancholic and respectful of issues such as mental health, PTSD and the emotional challenges that our Veterans face after service.

The story was not overly complicated as some films these days tend to be, but it was pitched at a level which kept us engaged from start to finish with everyone playing their parts well. All in all a fabulous and engaging film that we will no doubt watch again. We also very much hope that they get to make a sequel as I reckon there's a whole lot more that could be explored here.

If you like a bit of action, mixed with a lot of confusion and a tight little twist tied in a little bow this movie is for you. I don't like generic action movies. I felt like this would be something made for TV or made for VHS rental before I saw it. I was dead wrong. I couldn't sleep and wanted to watch something different. This was scratching an itch I didn't know I had. I was not expecting it to flow as well as it did. I don't know any of these actors and I don't care. They played their roles well and they delivered on an excellent written movie. The twist in this, which I was not expecting it to have at all, was one of the best I've seen. Never saw it coming.

After seeing the 4.5 rating on IMDb, I thought this may just be another low budget action flick without the goods. Wow, was I wrong!

Lower budget it may be but this film hits with everything it tries to do. Way better than the majority of much larger budget films of a similar nature. The main character and his story are above what you get with much higher rated films on IMDb. Is this movie the equivalent of John Wick? Not quite. But it's certainly still an enjoyable film with decent acting and heart.

If you were like me and questioning whether or not to skip this one, give it a shot. You likely won't regret it.

Considering as one reviewer has written this was filmed on a shoe string, through public funding via Kickstarter and none of of the guys involved really had experience in writing, directing or editing (to my knowledge), it's still a great small budget movie... Jesus if you want bad acting and inaccurate details, watch Dirty Angels and that had a far, far bigger budget..!

Honestly a great film, enjoyed the story, the characters and the mental health and PTSD sub-story which tied up the Fallen Soldier angle so well.

Considering these lads are Bootnecks and not Hollywood A listers with million $ budgets, I think they did a bang up job with what they had, and to think this TV Series come Film nearly never happened, I believe this is a true grit and adversity film on all fronts.

Showed British Soldiering well and told a story which is undoubtedly spoken, or should be spoken, by soldiers from all walks of life who have been through battle and come home lost...

Hoofin' geezers, well done.!

Nice piece of work showing how the mind of ex-services persons can lead down a rabbit hole so to speak

Some of the conflict scenes very well shot and not a lot of this just run at the enemy nonsense you get from hollywood you can tell the team are ex services and have experienced combat.

Considering the budget and early stages of the teams career a very well put together film.

Some of the plot and supporting acting is a bit patchy but at least a 6 out of 10 but given a 7 as indy

Hoping the film does well, definitely worth a watch

Looking forward to the next works and future films with Tip.
