Surprisingly enjoyable

Last night I knocked back a few gins and stumbled across Seven Deadly Sins, the Canadian mini TV series that first aired on Lifetime Movie Network. Set in two parts, it's meant to be based on the popular Seven Deadly Sins novels Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth and Pride by Robin Wasserman.

I have to admit I was expecting to hate it, and part of me does. But overall I just can't resist the comedic indulgence into their teenage "highschool" dramas; love triangles/pentagons/octagons, especially where the twists got dark. If I had been the director I would have loved to have made it darker.

Rachel Melvin was great as Kaia, and Dreama Walker worked well as Harper Grace. Overall Seven Deadly Sins was well cast, nicely made and paced, and it isn't trying to be anything that it is not.

If I had to sum up the mini series with one description I would say it's a very loose hybrid of Mean Girls meets Murder by Numbers. Remember I said very loosely! This is really not my usual style, but it's worth a watch when there's time to kill and you've had a few drinks.

With lives spiraling out of control can seven deadly sins really be deadly or will love conquer all, find out in this thoroughly enjoyable mini series.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a Canadian two part mini series based on a series of books by Robin Wasserman. The series is broken down like the books into various segments, Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth and Pride. There is much to recognise in this series particularly if one hails from a small town. Small town blues affects quite a lot of people and in this show both teenagers and adults suffer from the rut that comes with it.

Enter 'Kaia' a New Yorker banished to the small town of 'Grace' after been caught by her mother in a compromising position. Her self destructive nature reaches out to embrace the cool clique of the town as she unleashes on them her frustrations. This clique however have grown up with each other and buried lusts, loves and hates come rearing to the polished surface.

We have 'Harper Grace' the virtual Queen B of High School and one time town royalty until bad business decisions by her Father reduces them to middle class suburbia. She lives next door to 'Adam' the schools most promising athlete. They are best friends but as Judy Garland sang, 'How can I adore the boy next door' Harper knows that feeling all too well. He however is going out with 'Beth', the schools beautiful brain who never really fit in with the in crowd. Adam's best friend 'Kane' holds a secret passion for Beth but acts out by been the schools jerk chasing after anything in a skirt. Harpers friend Miranda holds a torch for Kane but he never sees her. Reed is the school loner, good looking but aloof, knows who the players are but rarely gets involved.

However when Kaia and Harper team up to break Beth to have Adam the old adage comes true, 'always watch out for the quiet ones'. A storm is unleashed and by the time its over someone will be dead.

There is much to like about this series, its acting is top notch as can always be expected from a Canadian show. There are definite similarities to many shows like 'Dawsons Creek', 'Mean Girls' and even Lynchs 'Twin Peaks'.

No character is without their faults or saving graces as they struggle with the question 'can we escape our lives or are we bound to repeat our parent's mistakes'.

The adult cast comprises of 'Men in Trees' and 'Defying Gravity's' Ty Olsson. '24's' and 'The Mentalists' Leslie Hope. 'Dark Skies' and 'Without a Trace' Eric Close and 'Supernatural' Samantha Ferris.

The teen cast includes 'Days of our lives' Rachel Melvin, 'Gossip Girls' Dreama Walker, 'I love you Beth Cooper' Jared Kesso and 'Power Rangers' Emma Lahana.

Took me by surprise

So I was lounging around on a Sunday evening and thought..let's watch some bad t.v. so I tuned into LMN (Lifetime Movie Network) and this two part series was just starting. The acting was quite good. I particularly liked the voice over for each deadly sin. At first I thought this was going to be a bit of a "Mean Girls" spin off but this movie took on its own uniqueness.

The stereotypes of the student were right on and I was quite amused by many of the adults in the movie and how they were more screwed up than the kids. The setting of the movie takes place in a town named Grace and that did make me laugh the first time I heard it. I'd actually recommend this if you had some time to kill.

Seven Deadly Sins

I love that movie. Plus I was to see it again but I can't fine it not where Netflix, prime videos & tubing don't even have nothing on it then I can't 2 this site and nothing either. I really want to see it again. Where can I watch it. It was a really awesome and good tv even though it was a 2 part movie. But I love it that movies. So if it was not much to ask but can you tell me where I can watch it. It don't matter if I have 2 pay four it to watch it plus I love all the characters on that two part movie . I think they did a awesome job.i love Rachael on Days Of Our Life. That's why I watch to watch the Seven Deadly Sins. She's a good actress.
