Fans of Arrow star Stephen Amell will want to put Feb. 23, 2025 on the calendar. That's the day Amell's next big series officially premieres on television.

Per TVLine, Suits L.A. is set to premiere on NBC on Feb. 23. In the show, a spinoff of the hit series Suits, Amell plays Ted Black, one of the lead characters. Amell previously spent nearly a decade playing Oliver Queen in the Arrowverse before later starring in the role of pro wrestler Jack Spade in the two seasons of Heels. The actor also recently appeared in Code 8: Part II, the follow-up to 2019's Code 8, as well as the Western movie Calamity Jane, which also featured his Arrow co-star Emily Bett Rickards.

The two-season sports drama Heels has an official Netflix premiere date. The Starz wrestling drama gave Stephen Amell his first lead television role after the end of his landmark CW television series Arrow, playing Duffy Wrestling League heel Jack Spade, whose rival is his younger brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig). Pinewood Toronto Studios has promoted general counsel Sarah Farrell to become the new general manager of the city’s downtown mega-studio.

Farrell, who joined film studio as legal counsel in 2013, had been overseeing legal, Hr and client relations. She replaces Geoff Grant, who left Pinewood Toronto Studios as general manager in Sept. 2023. That followed Pinewood Group, which runs Pinewood Studios in the U.K., in May 2023 acquiring full ownership of Pinewood Toronto Studios.

“Sarah is a great asset to the Pinewood Group and we are delighted that she has taken the reins as general manager. The live-action Netflix series was once again on top of the TV list from February 26 to March 3 with 19.9M views in its first full week on the platform. That’s slightly down from last week, but still by far the most-watched series on the platform during this interval.

Avatar still has a bit of a long way to go before it would break into Netflix’s most popular TV list. So far, it’s racked up about 40M of the 83M views it would need to surpass The Witcher Season 1, which is currently sitting in 10th place. There is plenty of time to make that happen, though, since the series has a hefty 91-day premiere window to do so.

So far, 2024 has seen everything from a cult favorite sci-fi comedy to a forgotten Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie film hitting the Netflix Top 10 charts. Frankly, it was nice to see something other than Kevin Hart's "Lift" in the charts, as this most recent effort from the standup star seems to be the latest in an endless supply of middling streaming movies that somehow come to dominate Netflix's most-watched rankings. Thankfully, Hart has now departed the charts to make way for more popular films and TV on Netflix, and this month there's a particular Canadian franchise that's managed to capture viewers' attention.

It’s unsurprising that Adam Sandler’s “Spaceman” is an immediate #1 for Netflix, but you have to wonder if the Sandler audience knew what it was getting: It’s the story of a long-distance solo astronaut who encounters loneliness and a mutant spider on his journey to Venus. Directed by Johan Renck, who won a DGA Award for his direction of HBO miniseries “Chernobyl,” it premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Reviews are mediocre and, per Netflix practice, it had token one-week showings in limited theaters. “Spaceman: debuted on the streamer March 1 and it will be interesting to see what kind of hold it maintains. For now, it’s another example of how Sandler uses his Netflix deal to expand his scope. (The film was produced by Channing Tatum’s Free Association.)

Robert Amell is currently finding success in a fantastical comedy-drama over on Prime Video called Upload (which is currently awaiting a season four announcement). Meanwhile, Stephen Amell just recently dramatized his love for professional wrestling by starring in a two-season show over on Starz called Heels. Code 8: Part II is a purposefully gritty attempt to infuse traditional superhero tropes into a movie about societal corruption on a large scale. Although it tells a relatively basic story with familiar characters, the movie's thematic intentions and cinematic tricks are interesting enough to engage the audience over its well-paced run-time. Code 8: Part II takes the characters of the first film in a more ambitious direction, but the sequel's characterization lost some of the clarity found in the first film. The indie sci-fi has flashes of excellence and some genuinely interesting commentary on the current state of affairs in the world, but it doesn't excel beyond the tropes it strives to embody.

The Code 8 movies are very similar to an X-Men story in that four percent of the population was mysteriously born with unique abilities. These "abnormalities," as the public calls them, are also known as "People With Powers" or PWPs. Unfortunately, they are heavily policed, exploited for work, abused, and scorned by the citizens, especially in Lincoln City.

The first movie had the electricity-generating Connor (played by Robbie Amell) getting caught up in a gang, hoping to raise money and save his ill mother. He committed a lot of sins along the way, but he eventually found his humanity again.
