While I had never actually heard about this 2024 sci-fi horror movie titled "The Bunker", as I stumbled upon it by random chance here in 2025, of course I opted to watch it on account of it being a movie that I hadn't already seen.
The storyline in the movie, while having potential, ended up being a snoozefest of epic proportions. The movie promises an alien invasion and much in the likes of the classic 1983 "V" TV series with big alien crafts hovering above major cities, then the premise of the movie proved promising. But writers Charles L. Bunce and Brian Hanson instead opted to show us isolated scientists trapped underground in bunkers working to figure out how to kill the would-be alien invaders. Yeah, there was a bunch of scientific talk and experimenting going on, and very little of actual alien invasion.
The acting performances in "The Bunker" were good, and they had a good cast ensemble to portray the characters and roles. The movie even have horror icons Tobin Bell and Tony Todd on the cast list, which was a nice surprise and quite a treat.
But even with horror icons such as Tony Todd and Tobin Bell on the cast list, the movie stood a snowballs chance in Hell to be interesting, given the insanely boring way that the writers opted to handle the script and story.
Visually then the movie was good, just a shame that there wasn't an excessive use of special effects throughout the course of the 92 minutes that the movie ran for.
I suppose diehard sci-fi fans will get more enjoyment from "The Bunker" than I did as a casual viewer sitting down to be entertained by a proper movie.
"The Bunker" was a swing and a miss of a movie, and it proved to be a rather disappointing horror sci-fi.
My rating of director Brian Hanson's 2024 movie "The Bunker" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

Saw this at the FrightFest in London for their premiere.
A limited budget and shot during covid so everyone did their scenes seperate. You can barely tell with most scenes they are together.
Most of it is done over Zoom as they duscuss how to create a bio weapon to defeat the aliens.
This does create some plot holes and some suspension of disbelief will be needed to explain the situation they are in and a few decisions.
But the acting is solid and keeps going through some of the more intense scenes and keeps you involved.
The characters are likeable and believable.
The effects are good for the budget and there is a good level of paranoia and suspicion due to the isolation of all involved.
A solid independent sci fi film with good acting and I look forwards to seeing their next work.
