And you might wonder why I'm making the comparison, since this is supposedly a magical girl and not a tokusatsu. The reason is very simple: this series is not a magical girl but an animated Kamen Rider show with sprinkles of the Sentais under the disguise of a Magical girl show, something that more or less in the first half is well done and interesting until in the second half the curse of the first historical iteration of those shows (and only of those) strikes again and we're served with episodes that are one the exact same copy of the other in sequence (I know, tokus are repetitious by nature but not all at the level of the 70's Kamen Rider) until you're bored to death and you just want to go to the end to see the final confrontation. And if this show is the 70's Kamen Rider, I guess the next one (Max Heart) will be V3/JAKQ Dengekitai kind of experience, and me not being a particular fan of those (to be generous) it's not an help. I guess I'll have to look for a Kamen Rider Black of the Pretty Cure to get into this IP properly. Really disappointing I must say.
I watched episode one. For a kids show designed to sell a card game, its pretty good. The animation is decent. I like the theme song. I'm definitely not going to watch anymore, but if I'd found this a few years ago, I'd probably have loved it.
This is another animated series I automatically love after searching for anime series to watch, especially series from Toei Animation. I love their stuff. I vaguely remembered seeing a snippet of this "magic girl" when it was on YTV and in English. But I don't actually remember when I saw it. I was curious, though, so I looked at fan art and screencaps online and thought, "I wanna watch that show now!" Fortunately, when I got my account on Crunchyroll in 2015, I found this series on it, watched it, and now it is another "magic girl" favorite; I have 32 other favorites.
As far as I could remember, the story goes that two stuffie-like "fairies" had travelled from their home world, known as the Field of Light, and enlisted two girls, Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro, to become the legendary warriors of light called Pretty Cure to battle the evil Dark Zone and protect the Field of Light's precious treasure, the Prism Stones.
I must say that Toei has done well again in the magic girl genre. I thought this anime was awesome with humor as well as superb animation (I always say that, I know). I love the episode where Honoka's parents came to visit her on her birthday and the episode where her dog Chutaro made friends with a lost puppy. So despite a couple of characters I really hate (which I don't want to talk about), I love every bit of this series. And I know I would say this, but I wish the series were on North American DVD.

It's evil! I can't handle the tournament anymore!
The reason why a proper English dub of the Pretty Cure Franchise is not gonna happen because magic is bad!
Watch Berenstain Bears or the Powerpuff Girls instead.

When I watched the first show I like the magic transformation that the girls had to do before they were in their uniform and could fight the bad guys. But every having to watch that same transformation happen ever 30 minute anime got to be too much. It got boring after a while to see that every 30 minutes. The anime was nicely designed. I liked the side animal/ creature characters they they had. They were curly designed. The magic girls clothes were design fine. The over plot of the show was a tiny bit boring. But I was able to sit through and watch all the episode so it wasn't too bad. I understand why some people would like magic girl becuse it can be inspiring to see girls being the hero of the story instead of men. Especially as a girl but it there wasn't enough things that I liked a lot about it that would make me want to watch this again. The script was about average. The villains were ok. Some of the villain designs were good. The show keep switching the villain purest too much for my like. It would have been better if the story had fewer villains in it. I like the colors that were used in this anime. He character development was a little bit unless then average. I would recommend younger women and girl watch it. But the whole family can watch if you want. If you like magical girl anime you might also enjoy this series.
