Never heard of this case but that's not unexpected as it was in Australia. It's very interesting, but I find the reporter quite pushy in getting interviewees to agree with her point of view. There's nothing about how old the ride was, how it had been neglected for years, how none of the safety issues had been put in place, how everything was covered in tar asphalt which would burn and smell. Yes there was certainly a very big miscarriage of Justice to all the families to not get to the full truth, but I certainly don't fell this helped at all. And it's interesting to see how the company handled their own report over this and why they wouldn't hand over anything when asked by an independent inquiry.
I'd never heard of this tragedy until seeing this film but it certainly has compelling information to support the idea that a cover up took place after an intentional fire. It's very emotional at times, mainly in the first episode as they detail the event. Truly haunting. In modern times, we wouldn't find a park that has such a death trap and no sprinkler system. Some could say it was an accident waiting to happen. But if this truly had been an accident, it would have been properly investigated. So right away we can see something was amiss. Imagine the scene of 7 deaths being completely cleared on day 2. That's unheard of. Unfortunatly, that level of corruption is still around today but most countries have better regulations so there can never be such a tragedy.
The film is well pieced together and may seem long to someone who doesn't appreciate that the filmmaker is attempting to focus on the emotion and authenticity of each participant as well as etch the true horror of this event into the viewers mind. I think they took the right approach, you can not rush such an in-depth look at this shocking set of circumstances.

So many reviews referring to the lead journalist's narration of the series, to her bias and guided interview tactics..
Real investigative journalism needs such structure sometimes, especially when there is so much evidence and corroboration pointing to those culpable, as are present in this case.
This is such a mess of a tragedy, a massive perversion of justice, both morally and legally. The journalists guided the interviewees with facts, and the interviewees were of free will to contest such.
I think this was expertly written and produced. Nothing bloated or exaggerated as in a lot of Netflix true crime. An extensive number of witnesses and parties involved in the case were interviewed, more so than at least I've ever seen in any recent docuseries.
The journalists did an amazing job, or rather the job that should have been done by the relevant police department at the time of the incident. They scoured through what appears to be thousands of statements, documents, and evidences that were shoddily examined initially or intentionally retracted from the initial investigation.
So many reviews claiming there is no actual proof of murder - what were you expecting? For the third and final episode to bring the deceased guilty parties behind bars? What they did was bring to light the corruption of law enforcement in Sydney at that time, which may well have impacted hundreds of other cases and people. Most importantly, they brought the case of Luna Park significantly closure to conclusion and the victims of the incident to retribution.
Most importantly, they.
