The Miniaturist of Junagadh

This is a short film in Hindi about a Muslim family about to leave for Karachi from Junagadh after the Bharat-Pakistan partition.

As with many Hindus, this was met with a sense of betrayal. And some like Kishorilal in the film sought to profit from it.

Naseeruddin Shah mesmerises in the film as the protagonist. A famed miniature blinded due to the rigors of his talent. But importantly, a Bharathiya who loves his birthplace Junagadh from the bottom of his heart.

The story reminds how Hindus and Muslims were like brothers during the British rule, with common hatred of the imperialist rule and who fought together for independence.

It is shown in Kishorilal's empathy that without religion to separate, those in the Indian subcontinent are truly of the same upbringing.

People forget the root cause of the problem: that the Mughals then and the radical Muslims now, seek to rule over or convert Hindus to their faith and hate them otherwise. Keep that aside and the country has always been welcoming, as is depicted in the melting of Kishorilal's heart by Naseer's painting of Krishna whom the minituarist refers to as God. A beautiful film .

It is far be the fair definition because its beauty is more seed of a special state of soul. Emotion is not enough for define it but a sort of...spell.

The partition of India in 1947 year. A Muslim family needs to left his house . A greedy man profit that. And a secret as key of a life, as pieces changing attitudes, as start of new perspective about life, maybe.

I loved this small gem from the first scenes. A blind artist and his daughter and the flavor of tea. The dialogue.

I loved the last scene, to. A man giving milk to a little cat.

And I was real seduced by the admirable performance of Naseeruddin Shah, by the atmosphere of house, by the resurrection, in some form, of the memories of my grandmother about refuge, of the delicate suggest of decades of life , force of roots, eulogy to family.

Short to define it, a graceful beauty source, very useful front to a tough day.
