When the Make Your Mark series was announced after the success of A New Generation, many fans including myself thought what the series would be after the events of the film.
I personally thought we were getting a season with episodic adventures before we would get a second season that would follow a plot and story.
Instead we were given a decent but poorly written 44 minute special that was... Literally about nothing. No really that's how I felt about the first special.
And when the second chapter of Make Your Mark came out, it had gotten a bit more lovable, but still didn't get the expectations from fans. Not to mention that the animation felt a little stiff, if not bland.
And the new voice cast for our new main characters were accepted by fans pretty quick since they did a good job, except for Ana Sani cuz... Well people tend to call out Ana Sani is trying too hard to be the next Pinkie Pie and I can't help but agree.
And over the first year, the series gradually got better with the writing and animation, giving hope that the series might be great over the next few seasons before it was shot in the back of the head and was cancelled by Netflix because we can't have anything nice.
Now we just have Tell Your Tale, the web series that airs new episodes every other week, and it's just... It's a wild show but I hate that the shorts are 5 minutes long instead of being the 22 minute length.

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark is an entertaining, full-length episode that will have audiences counting the days until the release of the upcoming series. This show doesn't really require you to watch the My Little Pony movie beforehand, and that is a good thing. You'll be entertained watching this show either way.
This show focuses on the new characters that were first presented in the previous movie, My Little Pony: A New Generation. In Maritime Bay, it's now normal for Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi to interact with each other and to be friends. But lately things have been tense between some of the ponies, and their friendship has been off. Zipp Storm (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has noticed this tension has caused the unity crystal's power to fade. Now Zipp and her friends have to figure out a way to stop it before it gets out of hand.
In My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark I like that the five ponies' friendship is so strong it's the only thing needed to keep the power of the crystal from fading. They don't do it individually-they do it together. My favorite characters in this show are Sunny (Jenna Warren) and Izzy (Ana Sani). I like Sunny and Izzy because they both have positive attitudes no matter the situation, and they are nice, genuine ponies. I think that was one of the key factors in saving Maritime Bay. I also like Zipp because she is funny and confident. Another thing I like about this show is that it includes everyone's differences, which sends the message that even if you are different, you can still be friends and work together.
The message of My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark is that you have to do what is right and good for you and not what's good for other people. Throughout the show, this is shown through Zipp's character. She doesn't know whether she wants to go back home and become a princess, or stay in Maritime Bay with her friends. In the end, she does what is right for her. My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark is family friendly and has a really good message that everyone, no matter who they are, will take away
I give My Little Pony: Make Your Mark 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 4 to 8. You can watch this show on Netflix starting May 26, 2022. Be sure to check it out!

G4 of MLP was heartfelt, funny, and it had an actual story. G5, however, is fast-paced, hollow, and I still have yet to figure out the plot. Zipp is the only good character, but only in the movie. And I can't even with the animation. Like, they had a perfect formula, but all that went out the window with Make your Mark and ESSPECIALLY Tell your Tale, which isn't even 3D. Side note, what are these names? They sound like human names, and Izzy is just recycled Pinkie Pie. These names have no actual meaning and the characters, except for Zipp, mean nothing to me. Also, why are their names spelled with two p's and not just one? G5 did not do G4 justice.
It really looks cheap in every aspect. The world looks boring and empty. The dialogue is what a kid would play with their toys. The story spits out so many ideas which all just seem to try to beat eachother in "coolness". The movie is really loud at times. Like having to scream or sing out lines just to make the kids look at the screen again.
It is definitely back to its roots: My little pony is for kids.

I reluctantly came to really enjoy the movie after my daughter became obsessed with it and was so excited there would be more to the story...
This is bad. The animation falls flat. The characters move unnaturally (even for animated ponies) and are bad caricatures of the movie characters. Even my daughter can't watch more than 5-10 minutes at a time... there could be some interesting plot points but they're not well handled and it's so hard to watch to even get to them.
