Marijuana Inc: Inside America's Pot Industry

The first "review" is actually filled with so many lies that I think they may have watched a different documentary and confused it with this one because virtually everything they say is false. In fact, the film makers go out of their way to talk to SEVERAL people in favor of medical marijuana who provide a very compelling argument as to why it should be legal. In no way does is it come across as "government propaganda" that demonizes users/growers and make marijuana out to be an overtly evil drug. The second "review" doesn't even discuss the documentary and is nothing more than a political rant.

I actually watched this CNBC special and found it to be a good primer but too short and superficial to properly cover the controversy in-depth. The first half of the doc discusses attempts by law enforcement to shut down grow houses in the Florida suburbs and also shows a site in the Nevada desert where armed Mexican nationals were growing pot and were surprised by some biologists who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It ultimately focuses on medical marijuana and the case of Charles Lynch (owner of a medical marijuana dispensary in Morro Bay, CA) and the tricky legal problems arising from state laws being at odds with federal laws regarding the sales of marijuana. 4/10

If you think marijuana is a harmful, evil drug you will LOVE this.

All the problems that marijuana causes are blamed on the growers, users and sellers.

Apparently homes are being ruined by grow-ops.

People are being harmed by the violence surrounding the protection of those properties.

All totally the fault of the growers, sellers and users.

The fact that this drug is only grown in homes because it is prohibited, and would be grown outdoors if it was legal - totally eliminating that problem, is ignored.

The fact that the grow-ops have no recourse except to arm and protect themselves from heavily armed invasions, due to being unprotected by the law, isn't raised - even in areas where it is legal to grow and the growers have permits! They interview the local police, in legal areas, who say the growing number of home invasions is a real problem because non-grow-op homes are being hit by mistake. The police even mention that they aren't really interested if a grow-op gets shot up unless 'innocent' neighbours are involved.

Also, according to this film, the growing use of medical marijuana is an increasing large contributing factor. So it does manage to lay some of the blame on those seeking medical marijuana and even more on those legally, or illegally, growing and supplying it to them.

No word on why this drug is illegal, what its true affects are or how study after study has shown the damage being done by the 'war on drugs' is causing more damage than the drugs would if they were legal.

Also no parallels to the Prohibition of Alcohol, no mention of how the jails are being filled with otherwise harmless people or the costs involved to the legal system or to human lives by prohibiting something clearly wanted by a significant percentage of the population.

Basically it portrays marijuana as an evil that must be stopped at any and all costs. Any amount of sanctions, prosecutions or violence is totally justified.

Clearly, if only the people would unquestionably do exactly what they are told could we all be able to enjoy our freedom of choice ;~)

Typical bias approach to a subject matter. You start off with predetermined position without all the facts then present half truths and/or leave out completely facts to justify your position. This is very slanted towards anti-marijuana, if you pay attention. I don't take sides but I feel like this documentary is very one sided and was not well presented.Typical mainstream media. It's shameful that they cannot take an objective look at an industry and its history. Instead of self-promotion in getting ratings, she should concentrate on legitimate investigative reporting. Better off searching on Google what you want to know instead of wasting your time watching this.

I think "recklessron" pretty much covered all the bases.

I've watched "Pot Inc" and everything in it is more a product of Prohibition (past and present) than anything having to do with pot itself.

Are you sure the author isn't a "Reagan" (you know, like the one who ran coke into the US to fund his pet war in Central America)? She sure sounds like one!

Millions jailed.

Millions killed.

Lives ruined.

Families ruined.

Money wasted on a War on Freedom while people starve.

The only way to end this nonsense is to end the drug war, period.
