As lovers of the original comics, but not having read them in years, and being acquainted with the terrible attempts at Asterix and Obelix film adaptations, this was an unexpected joy to watch as a family!
We range from 16-24 years and we loved this. We found the English dub to be hilarious. The accents selected were awesome and added to the humour and experience. The quick wit, attention to detail, consistency in story telling, and everything was so so loved. We couldn't stop watching.
If it weren't for a seemingly unnecessary character in the last three episodes (Apothexis), this would be a 10/10. The third episode was a bit of a filler and we found it to be a bit too modern and 'silly' which kind of broke the immersion in the world they had created. But, the rest of the show seemed to keep the 'silliness' to a level which was tolerable and well balanced with the geniuses humour and good plot.
Hoping for many more!

Loved every bit of it. It has the subtle humor, puns, relatable to current times and to top it of the last few seconds conversation between Chief Vitalstatistix and Impedimenta was the cherry on top.
The show creators expanded the story without loosing the essence of the original story. As an Asterix fan, I must say this was the best animation of Asterix so far (12 Tasks of Asterix was my previous favourite).
Animation, Sound design and background score was perfect. The dialogues are witty. A perfect show to watch with whole family.
Thank you Netflix and the whole team. A true tribute to Goscinny and Uderzo.

The new Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight mini-series on Netflix is a real treat. It's a five-part animated adaptation of the classic comic, directed by Alain Chabat, what he's done with this series is genius!
This version stays true to the heart of the original while adding a fresh, modern touch. The humor is sharp, the animation is beautifully done, and the voice cast fits perfectly. The story follows Asterix and Obelix as they stand against the Roman forces, while their druid Getafix finds himself in trouble *no spoilers*. Naturally, chaos follows.
Watching this took me straight back to afternoons spent in the Hornsby library, pouring over Asterix comics, getting lost in their sharp wit and playful satire. Those stories always had a way of making the world seem a little brighter, balancing clever historical nods with lighthearted humor. No matter how many times I read them, they were a source of comfort and a guaranteed laugh.
This adaptation captures that timeless comic feel, and the jokes remain packed with satirical charm and modern pop culture references. Whether you're revisiting a childhood favorite or discovering Asterix for the first time, this is well worth a watch-Alain and Netflix have done a fantastic job bringing these characters to life!
If you haven't seen it yet, I've provided a direct link here: Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight
Naturally, I think they've done a bangup job but these are just my thoughts but I'd love to hear what you think of the mini-series and if you think they should they bring out more. What do you think?

Considering the time it's been since the last asterix and obelix 'movie' This came out of nowhere, But the animation and design from that movie has been stepped up a notch.
Smooth as butter, accurate to the comics with added modern day / retro music, updated name puns and it's all wrapped up in 20 ish min bites, effectively a 2 hour ish movie cut up in to 5 pieces.
Characters are as you'd expect with the classic antics each are known for with a bit of drama mixed in.
I'd say safe for kids unless you think tom and jerry is too violent ;)
voice acting ( for english at least) is on point, everyone feels invested in their character, no phone in's.

Alain Chabat has done it again! Le combat des chefs is one of my favorite Asterix albums, and it's not only been perfectly adapted but also wonderfully enhanced for animation. The contemporary additions are perfectly in keeping with the original spirit, with subtle references to current events (Caesar could hardly look more like Putin). For me, it's a complete success, including in the animation of the characters, who seem to have stepped straight out of the comic-book panels. A superb piece of work, sublimated by the 5-star cast and remarkable graphics. Thank you for this moment of rediscovered childhood.

- QuizBeside the plot being based on the album Nr. 7 of the Asterix series from 1964, other small details and elements are borrowed from other albums: The fact that Asterix and Obelix celebrate their birthday is referenced in album 34, entitled "Asterix and Obelix's Birthday" and released in 2009 on the 50th anniversary of the first Asterix comic. The story about Obelix falling into the magic potion as a kid, that is referenced in every movie and album, was first told in the comic "How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When He Was a Little Boy", first released in "Pilote Magazine" in 1965. In both cases it involved Obelix being bullied. The adding of strawberries and lobster in the magic potion was mentioned in the first album "Asterix the Gaul", as well as in the adaptation Asterix il gallico (1967). An election of a village's leader was a plot element in the 21st album "Asterix and Caesar's Gift" from 1974.
