"Eastwick" which is a spin off from the 1987 film "Witches of Eastwick" is actually a pretty good and quite interesting series. As it is based around a trio of witches who deal with their daily lives and work with the devil himself mister Van Horne. This series has pretty good chemistry among the characters it's trio of women Joanna(Lindsay Price "Lipstick Jungle" and "90210" alum)Roxie(the beautiful and attractive voluptuous Rebecca Romijn)and Kat(newcomer Jaime Ray Newman)all live and work in a beautiful New England town. They seem normal as they have children and date then all of a sudden Darryl Van Horne(Paul Gross) comes to town and the strange happenings and mystery enters their lives. They don't know what to make of him friend or foe. As with any tale involving witches this show has your typical magic of the women being able to see into the future, spell castings, and moving objects. And a real treat for viewers is how it's blended with sex appeal as so far many episodes has featured the witch gals in hot steamy love making scenes. And many times they look sexy as each have had scenes in sexy colored bras. Overall this series is a nice mixed bag of mystery and drama like sex appeal nothing great yet it's a watch to refresh the imagination.
Looks like it will be a cute, easy watching show that should appeal to a wide range of family viewers. No big, deep messages or morals, nor roll in the aisles comedy, but keeps you smiling the whole way through. The three women work well together, their very different personalities contrasting and complementing just like the very different powers that they possess. Jaime Ray Newman is totally believable as the "doormat" housewife, and mother of five (and the favorite character of our five kids). Lindsay Price and Rebecca Romijn also fit their roles perfectly as the scatterbrained journalist and the earthy artist. We will tune in to see how this "dynamic trio" will come together to confront the ideally cast demon Paul Gross, and the small-town small-minded community that they are about to be unleashed upon.
I'm not someone who tries new shows often this was a pleasant surprise. Sad it's gone.
I just finished watching 'Eastwick' and I have to say I enjoyed it. It is beyond me why ABC decided to suddenly cancel this series. It is better than most of the stuff we have seen on television lately. This is a well made, intelligently scripted, interesting and original series. It is very well casted, the characters all have very good chemistry between them, the acting is good throughout, etc.
Not to say that it is a masterpiece, far from it (especially as the screenwriters go a little 'over the top' after the first 7-8 episodes), but it definitely is much better than the standard TV fare we are inundated with recently.
So why cancel it? Maybe because it is too smart for it's own good..., meaning the masses could not appreciate it...? Maybe...

This is a pretty entertaining show, especially coming from a network known for throwing dull, whiny shows out there like Brothers and Sisters and it's latest clone, Modern Family. So naturally, I was pretty bummed to hear that ABC is canning this one. The story lines are great, often mixing serious supernatural situations with some humorous touches to lighten it up a bit and all of the actors all well cast (Paul Gross in particular is a funny slimy riot as Darryl Van Horn). I guess the only set back was the ridiculous 10 p.m.(EST) time-slot (aka "death slot") on Wednesday that ABC put this show into. It seems the network had little faith in this show to start with so they tanked it's chances of succeeding by showing it mid-week when most folks have to get up early the next day for work/school. Pity. I think if the CW or even NBC had this one, it would've had a chance.
