8/10 Gritty, Raw, and Unapologetically Real

If you don't like it, it's because you are too accustomed to digital effects.nIt's not polished, it's not aiming for beauty shots or breathtaking panoramas; instead, it's about the lived-in world of the characters, each of whom feels more like a real person than a film archetype. It's Real, because it didn't feel cinematic until the end. It felt like it was being watching as a third person. It doesn't feel like your typical polished Hollywood drama. This film is gritty, personal, and at times, uncomfortable.

It puts you in the everyday, mundane reality of life in LA when the rain doesn't fall often enough to wash away the grime, but just enough to highlight the cracks in the city's fakeness.

From the opening scenes, the film feels less like you're watching a story unfold and more like you're living it-up close like from your phone and that is actually a scene in there. It is raw, and unfiltered. The camera work is intentionally unrefined, almost voyeuristic. It's not polished, it's not aiming for beauty shots or breathtaking panoramas; instead, it's about the lived-in world of the characters, each of whom feels more like a real person than a film archetype.

The lack of cinematic glamor might throw some viewers off, but that's exactly what sets this story apart. The dialogue isn't crisp and witty; it's awkward, messy, and punctuated with silences that speak volumes. The performances aren't showy, but they're deeply affecting. You don't just watch the characters' struggles-you feel them, up close, like you're right there with them, caught in the same downpour of uncertainty and disillusionment.

This is a film about LA, but not the LA that we usually see on screen. It's the LA of the in-between moments-when the sun's down, the traffic's slow, and people are left to confront the choices they've made in life. The rain, sparse and unexpected, becomes a metaphor for all the things we ignore in the dry spells of our lives. It's not about redemption or escape; it's about survival and finding some kind of meaning in the mess.

There's a sense of quiet desperation that runs through the story, a realism that many films shy away from. It doesn't try to uplift or offer easy resolutions, and in that way, it feels more authentic than most dramas that claim to depict real life. It's a hard watch at times, but that's what makes it memorable.

In a world where so many films feel designed to entertain, "When It Rains in LA" feels designed to make you think-about the things we ignore, the lives we overlook, and the moments we miss when we're too busy looking for something bigger. It's not a movie you simply watch; it's a story you experience.

European Femme Fatale or Fatal?

There's no movie like this one out there. 7.5/10 because of this and the general quality. I don't know if I liked how everything was done..but I do like the drama of it all. Like, if you know anything about girls... as a girl.. you will appreciate the problem this movie is suggesting . Hint : Femme fatale in the form of a European girl, yup, that's enough to keep me interested.

Girls like me enjoy watching the B**ches get their .. But, If there was some more understanding of the people's histories it would definitely be more interesting. I do not know if this was an intentional omission or not. Overall though, maybe not knowing more about everyone served the story here? So I can understand why some people may not like it, but you can't not like it either, it was well conceived and there is nothing like it out there.. so for that I give it a thumbs up.

Positively Polarizing Worth A Watch

You have to LIKE THRILLERS. I never write reviews, but this film kept me curious. You will either like it, not like it, or fall somewhere in the middle. But that is what makes a movie interesting. How it hits everyone differently. Right?

Compared to other Thrillers, this one at least keeps you thinking. The acting was above average compared to studios with overpaid talent, this one kept me wondering about what I was going to see next.

But I am giving higher rating because of the music, it kept me in the right mood, and while the story ran a little quickly, it still kept its feel from beginning to end. If you were looking for a horror, it's not quite there, but a thriller for sure with a drama attached to it.

When It Rains in LA was an entertaining

When It Rains in LA was an entertaining and visually captivating film. The rain-soaked streets of Los Angeles provided a unique and atmospheric backdrop that added to the story's charm. The performances were solid, and the plot kept me engaged throughout. While it didn't quite reach the emotional depth I was hoping for, it was still a memorable experience. Overall, it's a beautifully crafted movie that's well worth watching for its entertainment value and stunning visuals. You will be pleased if you spend time watching this movie. It wont win awards but its good enough to watch this movie. Its what la need right now actually rain.

Terrible.

If you are interested in some forgettable characters having long conversations that go nowhere before going out to a club that looks like the most boring place in LA and then have more conversations that go nowhere in that setting, then this movie is for you. At about the hour mark, my husband turned to me and said, "what is this movie about?" The acting was so bad. It's is movies like this that give the Razzies no credibility. There is no way that any of the actors and actresses nominated for Razzies this year were worse than the actors in this movie. It never figured out what the point of this movie was.

ability to evoke a sense of place and atmosphere

"When It Rains in LA" is a mesmerizing and atmospheric track that perfectly captures the mood and essence of the City of Angels on a rainy day. The song's dreamy and introspective quality is both haunting and beautiful, making it a must-listen for fans of indie and alternative music.

From the opening notes, the song's lush instrumentation and soothing melodies draw the listener in, evoking the feeling of being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cold and rainy day. The vocals are equally impressive, with the singer's emotive and heartfelt delivery conveying the longing and nostalgia that permeates the lyrics.

One of the standout aspects of "When It Rains in LA" is its ability to evoke a sense of place and atmosphere. The song's title and lyrics are deeply rooted in the city's culture and geography, and the music perfectly captures the feeling of being in LA on a rainy day. From the misty mountains to the rain-soaked streets, the song's imagery is vivid and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the music.

The production quality is also top-notch, with a keen attention to detail and a clear emphasis on creating a cohesive and polished sound. The mix is perfectly balanced, with each instrument and vocal part sitting comfortably in the mix.

Overall, "When It Rains in LA" is a stunning track that showcases the artist's skill and craftsmanship. It's a song that will appeal to fans of indie and alternative music, and its atmospheric and introspective quality makes it perfect for listening on a rainy day.

  • Emotive and heartfelt vocals

A Quiet Film That Speaks to the Heart

Some films don't need loud drama or big twists to make an impact. They quietly settle into your heart and stay there. When It Rains in LA is one of those rare movies-subtle, emotional, and deeply human.

Set in the ever-sunny city of Los Angeles, this film uses rain not just as a weather event, but as a powerful metaphor. In a city that rarely sees storms, the rain becomes a symbol of change, reflection, and quiet transformation. The film doesn't rush. It takes its time, letting the story unfold at its own pace-just like real emotions. The performances in this film are its strongest pillar. The lead actor doesn't play a character-you feel like you're watching a real person with real struggles, quietly navigating life. There's a raw honesty in the way they speak, move, and even remain silent. Nothing feels overdone or dramatic, yet it moves you. The supporting cast adds just the right amount of presence. Each character, no matter how small their role, feels essential to the mood and message of the film. It's rare to see a cast where everyone feels so natural. Visually, When It Rains in LA is stunning. The cinematography captures LA in the rain like a dream. Wet streets, blurred reflections, and soft lights create a calming yet emotional backdrop. The way the camera lingers-on a window, a cup of coffee, or a look in someone's eyes-feels like watching visual poetry. The use of stillness is especially powerful. There are long, quiet shots where not much happens-but somehow, everything is being said. The soundtrack is gentle and soul-stirring. You won't find big dramatic scores here. Instead, soft piano, ambient textures, and the natural sound of rain do the storytelling. In fact, some of the most emotional scenes have no dialogue at all-just music and visuals working together to speak directly to the heart. Even silence is used as a form of music in this film. And that's what makes it so powerful. At its core, When It Rains in LA is a story about connection, self-discovery, and healing. It follows people who are lost in their own ways, searching for something-maybe love, maybe closure, or maybe just themselves. There's no rush, no sudden climax. The story flows gently, like rainfall on a quiet night. And that's where its beauty lies. It doesn't try to explain everything. Some things are left unsaid-but felt. And those feelings are what stay with you long after the film ends. When It Rains in LA isn't just a movie-it's a feeling. It's for those quiet moments in life when you're looking for something soft, something real. It won't give you easy answers, but it will give you space to feel, think, and maybe understand yourself a little better.

Watch it on a rainy day. Or a lonely evening. Or when you just want to feel something true.

A beautifully made film that reminds us-sometimes the most powerful stories are told in silence.

Don't bother

There's absolutely no way that these positive reviews are genuine, some ai bulk review thing. It's badly made, full of continuity errors, poorly written and feels more like a college project than anything else. The acting in some points is pretty laughable with characters that have just met getting waay too personal too quickly. The soundtrack makes the movie feel more like a music video for the directors friends group than a movie. The rain scenes are really weird and it has no consistency, using the same rain filter infront of the camera for all of the shots even through transitions.

Give it a miss I beg you.

absolutely beautiful.

Alright.. I'm going to be honest here. "When it rains in LA" was astonishing. My favorite part is when it rained in LA, but a part I hated was when it rained in LA. The biggest plot twist, though, was when it rained in LA. Wait did I mention when it rained in LA?? Bro I loved that part!! The part that made me tear up was when it rained in LA. Truly, the moment when it rained in LA was a beautiful sight to see. The cringiest part was when it rained in LA. It still wasn't that bad, though. The most fire part though, was when it rained in LA. But ultimately, the most memorable part was when it rained in LA. Overall, "when it rains in LA" is a beautiful movie. I know y'all will love the part when it rains in LA!! >:D.

You may think differently after this movie.

Better than 75% of movies I saw last year. LA rain, Euro girl and weird LA people, that's a decent mix that I like to see. I felt like I was watching the worst of my last 4 roommates. I mean it's entertaining but gritty. I literally wanted to see them taken out, so that was rewarding. I don't think it deserves a 1 it's def above a 5. I'm not a critic but it's still better music than Challengers. Okay okay it's indie movie but it's got sort of a weird thing it does to my head afterwards, it's like the scenes are reposting in my mind that's why I came to write a review but you have to like suspense in a film I guess, I would like to see some variations to it.

Don't trust the reviews

Watching When It Rains in LA feels less like a cinematic experience and more like stumbling onto a college film project that somehow made it to streaming. From the first scene, it's clear: this is not a professional production. The acting is wooden at best, with line deliveries so flat and forced you'd think the cast met the script five minutes before cameras rolled. Emotional moments fall completely flat, often provoking confusion or second-hand embarrassment rather than empathy.

The cinematography doesn't help. Scenes are lit like a YouTube vlog, with shaky camera work and awkward framing that constantly pulls you out of the story-what little of it exists. There's no visual style, no cohesion, and no sense that anyone behind the camera had a plan beyond just hitting "record."

Best to watch

User reviews 14 Featured review 7 /10 Young Stars maybe? Worth the watch, even if slow.

I'm not a critic but I am a movie buff.

Pros : It has a real story. It was not 2 hours long. At the end it made me think. Cons : It could be move things faster. I would like to know more about the characters.

Among all the garbage I watched this year, this When it Rains in LA was definitely not bad. Not sure about the budget, but it was better than nosferatu, cause I don't need to watch special effects unless I am playing video games. It had a story that actually made sense enough to keep me looking back at it. If Timothy Chalamet was in it, it could be a 9/10. But I give the new young actors credit, so even though I would like to give a 6, I will make it a 7, cause maybe one of them will be in some big series soon. Who knows? I see the potential, but definitely could have been done more interesting. Overall though it had me 50% into it, I wanted to know...

Plagiarism much?

I love how they plagiarized lines. The bloody Mary mix line was stolen directly from When Harry Met Sally with a few words changed. Write your own dialogue and stop plagarizing other movies. This was my first clue that it would be horrible. I should have turned it off after this, but I guess that I'm a glutton for punishment.

The acting was not the greatest either. It seems like I was watching a class on acting. It was painful to watch.

There's no way it deserves a high rating. The people who gave it a high rating must be deaf.

Don't waste your time on this. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

This movie sucks

When it rains it pours and this is an incredibly bad movie. It is not bad in a fun way but it is a sad state of affairs. There is something sad about the was this movie tries to be something it isn't. They should have spent the money they had on editing and sound and maybe a few rehearsal days before they decided to shot the movie from the script they went with at the end of the day.

I never believed in bots pumping reviews until I saw how odd the reviews changed almost overnight on this film so I had to leave a review to help set the record straight. This is not a movie I would want to ever be associated with.

Must watch

When It Rains in LA is a beautifully written, atmospheric story that captures the rare and almost magical feeling of rain in a city known for its endless sunshine. The author uses the rain as a metaphor for change, growth, and vulnerability, weaving these themes into the lives of the characters with subtlety and grace. The narrative feels intimate and reflective, almost like a personal confession. Every detail - from the scent of wet concrete to the muted city lights - is vividly rendered. It's a melancholic yet hopeful exploration of love, loss, and finding beauty in unexpected moments. A moving and memorable read.

This was not a good movie

There is a good movie in this cinematic abortion, but that is just wishful thinking. I have seen better film on teeth and that is my professional opinion as a dentist. This was bad even for a Tubi movie and anyone who tells you different has never seen an actual good motion picture or as an ulterior motive.

The ineptitude in every facet of filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera is clear to even the most amateur of movie makers. I hope everyone in this does something better because I would not want this to be the only thing on my resume if I were them. This is sad and I am ashamed of anyone who has given this a positive review to mislead the general public because people do not get better from false praise.

A Case Study in Deception (Disguised as a Film)

I was lured into watching this by an average rating that suggested, if not a hidden gem, at least a competent film. Let me be perfectly clear: that rating is a complete and utter fiction, and I am angry I was tricked.

What you will find here is not a real movie. I was honestly stunned by the quality, which barely reaches the level of a daytime soap opera. The acting is painful, the writing is full of cliches (and, as one reviewer pointed out, plagiarized lines), and the technical execution is bafflingly amateurish. It's the kind of film that makes you question your own judgment for continuing to watch it; as a completionist, I've rarely felt so tested by something so completely devoid of value. There is literally nothing to be gained by finishing it.

So, where do the high scores come from? My disbelief led me down the rabbit hole of its reviews, and the truth is more absurd than the film itself. The positive ratings are a masterclass in manipulation. You will find glowing 10/10 reviews that are actually for books, songs, and even Obsidian video games. You'll find beautifully written AI-generated poetry that says nothing specific about the film. You'll see a featured review from one of the filmmakers. It's a transparent, cynical, and frankly insulting campaign.

Meanwhile, every single genuine review-the ones with specific critiques and a frustrated, human voice-gives this a 1/10 and is overwhelmingly voted as "Helpful" by the community. That is the real audience score.

Don't make my mistake. This project doesn't just waste your time; it disrespects your intelligence by assuming you won't notice the scam. You will.
