I really do like this film, and yes it has a bit of an original story. The fact that we don't see background on the main characters was an excellent touch since usually every damned movie out there has that background story that isn't a;ways necessary to consider a film a success. The pigeon thing was also an excellent touch since it was a new idea that hasn't been used before.
Now, here is the downside to the film-- the overplayed slang that became famous in 2012, "Fam". Yes we know it's a abbreviation for the word "Family" and is not the first film to use the slang word of the year to relate to the audience, but in this film it is WAY overused which quickly bordered on annoying. Now, for the rest of my criticism, I am going to rag on the guy who ruined the movie in every scene he was in whether he opened his mouth or not; Jason.
Jason is the self appointed leader of the group and is extremely childish and annoying. Not to mention selfish. Lloyd, whom he considers his best friend, is trying to straighten out his life because he has a child on the way and is putting priorities above Jason. I completely commend his decisions because he doesn't want to be locked up and not able to help raise his child. He stopped doing drugs and drinking heavily and definitely was putting his beloved girlfriend as well as his aforementioned unborn child first. Jason was not having ANY of that.
Jason doesn't like being told no, whether he wants to do something or wants someone else to do something. So what does he do when Lloyd honors his deal with their drug dealer by hooking up the aerial and then deciding to take Jemma home? Jason spikes his "Best Friend's" drink with pills because he didn't want him to leave. Well, I'm sorry Jason but the world doesn't revolve around you, "Fam".
He is also abusive towards Colin which is definitely uncalled for. Jason may be the self appointed leader but he is extremely annoying and gave the film the only unenjoyable moments.
All in all, aside from Jason, this film was original and very well made. I recommend it for anyone who decided to look for something different.

COMEDOWN is a low rent British horror film set entirely within the confines of a deserted tower block. The gritty realism and the setting made me hope for something along the lines of TOWER BLOCK or ATTACK THE BLOCK, but unfortunately this is nothing like those two (great) movies. Instead it's a cheap slasher, almost entirely devoid of imagination.
Headlining the cast is Jacob Anderson, best known to audiences for his role as Grey Worm in GAME OF THRONES. Anderson and his buddies, including a pregnant girlfriend and an obnoxious type (Adam Deacon, playing firmly to type) hole up in a run-down building to help run a pirate radio station, but their drug-fuelled highs come crashing down when a killer starts picking them off one by one.
COMEDOWN must feature one of the least menacing bad guys ever, and when you learn of his motivations you'll laugh out loud, they're that slim. The kills, which are what most horror fans will watch this for, are relatively tame, and there just isn't much in the way of suspense built along the way. It doesn't help that the dialogue is moronic throughout and that every twist in the script is well-choreographed. Add in some quite terrible cinematography, meaning 95% of this takes place in near blackness, and you have a quite unworthy film.

A grimy & gritty low-budget London based urban slasher where a bunch of vile street rats get killed off one by one in a rundown abandoned Block of flats & it's a pretty bad film because the gang are vile & the type in real life you want to get killed off!!!
An all British urban version of an American Slasher & here i rooted for the KILLER!!!!

... Makes another deeply unpleasant film that borders on being unwatchable
Yes the director of KIDULTHOOD is back and this time he tries his hand at horror in an inner London setting . This type of horror has been done before in ATTACK THE BLOCK , a film I personally despised because the anti-heroic protagonists deserved to get eaten by alien hordes . This film is no different and is a film I despise for the same reason as ATTACK THE BLOCK
If you're going to have a film where the protagonists are going to be fighting for their lives at least craft some type of characterization that will have the audience empathize with their predicament . Here I didn't know anything about the villain in the background stalking the teenagers . All I knew was that he was probably doing the gene pool a massive favour
Some commentators have criticised the " Estuary English / chav speak " dialogue but if we had the Royal Shakespeare Company speaking in pedantic Queens English this wouldn't have made any difference because most of the dialogue is downed out in a poor sound mix with some very dire muzak on the soundtrack just to remind the audience that this is a horror film
In summary this is one of those films that will alienate and outrage everyone from the most rabidly right wing reader of The Daily Mail to the most left leaning Guardinista . When you're watching a horror film and the most likable character is the villain that must be seen as a fundamental failure

So as it seems, already people agreed that there's nothing new here, nothing original, nothing outstanding, even more, you're going to find what you've already seen 1000 times.
Even so, movies like this could be enjoyable, yet, not this one, it's too dull, you have to wait for a loooong time for anything to happen and when it finally does...I don't know, it's dull, it's just dull. Now, a budget of £2,000,000 kinda takes you out of the indie section right? Therefore, you can't say you love it for the fact that is small, made with extra love and people might just find it in their hearts to like it! Only reason to enjoy it is if you're a fan of the director, cause he returned with one guy from his previous movies, so I guess it's safe to say you wanted to take a look further into their careers, you found this little gem, and there you have it, you're satisfied!
As a huge horror fan, I might say,I watched it with my gf, we both got bored, she even left the room, I almost prayed for the movie to end sooner, but it didn't. Therefore, it's all up to you, do as you please, watch it or don't; my opinion --> DON'T! You can do a lot better than this one!
