Adam Barth Exits ‘Safe Harbor’ Distributor Eccho Rights

Exclusive: Adam Barth has left his role as Director of Co-Productions, Development and Acquisitions at European distributor Eccho Rights and its parent Night Train Media.

We’ve got word of the news less than a week ahead of MIPCOM Cannes, where Eccho Rights will be shopping Safe Harbor, the buzzy crime drama from Ozark co-creator Mark Williams. Barth will remain as an exec producer on the show.

Barth has been with Eccho Rights since 2021, having joined after exiting Nent Studios UK (aka Drg), where he was SVP for Emea. Further back, he worked at New Media Vision, acting as an executive producer on international formats adaptations of shows such as NBC procedural Mysteries of Laura.

Eccho confirmed his departure to Deadline this week.

At Eccho, he has worked on shows such as Sundance and Virgin Media drama Vanishing Triangle and BBC drama Granite Harbour. He has worked as an exec producer on Safe Harbor,...

Night Train Media Launching Digital Division Under Caitlin Meek-o’Connor

Exclusive: Night Train Media is launching a digital label.

Industry veteran Caitlin Meek-o’Connor will lead Night Train Digital, having joined Herbert L. Kloiber’s production and financing business last year.

The unit will focus on producing and managing TV and digital-first content across a number of platforms. It will manage all existing YouTube and social channels for Eccho Rights, the London-based distribution business owned by Night Train, and will take a broader look at the wider Night Train group and external clients.

“Night Train Digital represents our commitment to expanding our digital footprint and enhancing our content strategy,” said Kloiber, CEO of Night Train Media. “With Caitlin Meek-o’Connor at the helm, we are poised to explore new opportunities and deliver engaging digital-first content to global audiences.”

Exclusive: Alfie Allen, Charlie Murphy and Jack Gleeson are to star in a Dutch-Belgian thriller series from Ozark co-creator Mark Williams, Night Train Media and Submarine.

They are starring alongside emerging Dutch star Martijn Lakemeier in the eight-part drama, which is for Dutch streamer Videoland and Belgium’s Streamz.

Production has begun in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with Williams directing along with Arne Toonen, and we hear the ambition is for Safe Harbor to be a returner that aims to balance edge-of-the-seat thrills with character-based stories and a twisty plot line. Further shooting will take place in Belgium and Ireland, Deadline understands.

Exclusive: Fox has put in development Interceptor, a one-hour Coast Guard drama, from The Nacelle Company and Kimberly Harrison’s Based On A True Story Productions.

Written by Katie J. Stone, David Daitch and John Pruitt, in Interceptor, a rookie Coast Guard Special Forces team, as diverse as the nation they are sworn to protect, must battle the drug infested waters off the coast of Florida, and navigate the streets of Miami, all while working through the trials of their personal lives.

Nacelle’s Brian Volk-Weiss, Matt Ochacher and Michael Pelmont executive produce with Harrison for Based On A True Story. Fox Entertainment is the studio.

The writing team of Stone and Daitch have credits that include USA’s Shooter, Call of Duty, and previously developed drama Adversaries at ABC via Sony TV.

Pruitt is a retired Coast Guard Captain who commanded three cutters and led boarding parties in Iraq.

Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
“The Walking Dead” star Andrew Lincoln is set to star opposite Naomi Watts in “Penguin Bloom,” the upcoming adaptation of Bradley Trevor Greive and Cameron Bloom’s bestseller.

The film will be directed by Glendyn Ivin (“Safe Harbor”) and written by Shaun Grant and Harry Cripps and is set to begin production in Australia at the beginning of August.

Watts will also produce alongside Emma Cooper and Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson and Steve Hutensky.

Paramount Pictures Will Release David Oyelowo’s Captive
The rise of the award-winning David Oyelowo continues with the news that Paramount Pictures has snapped up the global distribution rights to the Selma star’s latest film, Captive. The story is based on the real events that are told in the book Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero, by Ashley Smith and Stacy Mattingley.

Kate Mara (House Of Cards) plays the lead role of Ashley Smith – a single mother struggling with drug addiction and a battle for custody of her daughter. Smith is thrust into the spotlight, however, when prison escapee Brian Nichols forces his way into her apartment and holds her captive for seven hours. Nichols had been awaiting trial for multiple counts of kidnapping, assault and rape of a former girlfriend, when he overpowered law enforcement officers in the courthouse and shot the judge – Rowland Barnes – and a court reporter named Julie Brandau.

In today's casting news, David Oyelowo (Jack Reacher) and Kate Mara (House of Cards) are set to star in the thriller, Captive, for director Jerry Jameson (Walker, Texas Ranger). Written by Brian Bird and Reinhard Denke, and based on Ashley Smith's book, "An Unlikely Angel", Captive is based on the true events of an escaped prisoner who takes revenge on the people who put him in jail and takes a young woman hostage. Oyelowo will play the convict, Brian Nichols, while Mara will play Smith, the woman Nichols takes hostage. Bn Films announced today that David Oyelowo and Kate Mara would be boarding the thriller Captive. Leonor Varela and Mimi Rogers will be rounding out this ensemble. Captive is written by Brian Bird and Reinhard Denke, based on Ashley Smith. Alex Garcia, Lucas Akoskin, Terry Botwick, David Oyelowo, and Ken Wales will produce along with Katrina Wolfe, Jonathan Gray, Ralph Winter, Elliott Lester, and Brian Bird who are set as executive producers. The film is set to begin principal photography later this month.

The movie will be directed by Jerry Jameson (Safe Harbor, Raise the Titanic) and is being produced in association with Brightside Entertainment, 1019 Entertainment and Oyelowo's Yoruba Saxon Productions. This will also mark Bn's second venture with Oyelowo, who starred in Nightingale, set for a festival run next year.

Treat Williams and Nancy Travis have been tapped to star in "Safe Harbor," a Hallmark Channel original movie.

The telefilm, set to air this year, is based on a true story. It revolves around a couple about to sail around the world who take a couple of juvenile delinquents under their wing and learn about hope, second chances and living their dreams. Orson Bean co-stars.
