Overall movie was boring. characters were not well crafted.

Big B was a pathbreaking movie considering the visual style and action.It was a fine work but not a great movie.But SAJ disappoints in all the fields.I admit it has style, but unlike Big B the movie doesn't have any magic moments.U have Mohanlal walking in slow motion the entire time.The Action scenes were not thrilling,the plot was so stupefying,it's just the old wine in new bottle.Mohanlal's performance was intense.Cinematography was good ,Amal Neerad himself did it.S.N.Swamy is outdated.It was a wrong decision to hand him the scripting duties which i think may have made Amal Neerad confined.The Script had utterly failed the Visual Style of SAJ with bad plot uncool one liners, and idiotic humour.Forgettable Songs,Background score was heavy,gave me headaches.The Chemistry between Mohanlal and Bhavana was ridiculous & unneeded.Altogether SAJ is a disappointing movie,doesn't deliver at all,go in if you like Mohanlal and some cool shots!

Watch this movie if you love movies that are 'so bad' it's good.

All this movie has is Mohanlal walking accompanied to a background score.

He walks and talks. Walks and talks some more. And some more. And a little more. And then the film ends. And he talks some more.

The production design is good. So are the costumes. Two redeeming points in this otherwise sorry effort.

The sun flare shots are overdone.

Frankly, it's Mohanlal who saves the day.

The only scene that works and blows life into a dead audience, is the scene set to the old background score composed by Shyam. Where Mohanlal introduces himself as Sagar Alias Jacky.

The only thing dumber than the movie is the dumb audience. Mistaking visual trickery for style. That too quite ordinary visuals lacking heart, soul or cinematic vision. The staging is static and lacks dynamism.

For style - go watch Chunking Express or Kill Bill or even No Country for Old Men OR go watch Ayan (tamil) or Aamir, Ghajini or Johnny Gaddar or A Wednesday.

Yo, Amal Neerad, looks like all you know is putting on some style. But style isn't enough to make a good movie.

Sagar alias Jackie,known to be the stylish movie in Malayalam is awful.

It is rich in style.No doubts. But lacks substance.

The same year we had a Bollwood movie released named Blue which was high on style but lacked story.

Direction by Amal Neerad is bad.

The music is bad.Barring the title track.

Cinematography is excellent.

Performance wise-Superstar Mohanlal rocks!The baddies are bad,while Shobhana and Bhavana are okay.We get even to see Pranav Mohanlal,son of Mohanlal.

Overall Sagar alias Jackie is bad.

Good action movie with good direction and cinematography

I agree that it has lot of style and is lot of style from beginning to end, But it is a great movie where Mohanlal showed his skills very well and has no reason to be rated less!! I have watched it more than 40 times and still love to watch it when I feel like getting some courage and power. The confidence in the dialogue's and cinematography are excellent features of this movie. Even after watching the movie several times, every single time i get goosebumps when I watch the confidence of the Character Sagar Alias Jacky. The scenes where Mohanlal lets know Shobana that her child need not worry about any revenge when he grows up and such scenes where he speaks with the style of a Don or Leader is really mind blowing.

Super mass movie..! What a direction and camera I appreciate the director and the camera man who makes this movie too good and the choreography was excellent

Sagar Alias Jacky (Mohanlal) is a gangster who is known for solving problems among big gangs. The Chief Minister's(Nedumudi Venu) son-in-law, Manu(Manoj K Jayan) is kidnapped and the police are unable to find a clue. Manu's wife Indu(Shobhana) realizes that the police have been influenced by her brother Hari(Ganesh) who seems to know the kidnappers. Indu decides to call her best friend Sagar to help find her husband. Sagar calls his best henchmen from all over Kerala for the job.

Amazing malayalam movie with a gangster plot and unpredictable climax

SAJ is a very stylized movie. Even though the story is not that good. Watch the movie if you are a great Mohanlal fan...Its worth to see his actions. The combination of Mohanlal with Bhavana doesn't seem to match. If you don't have anything else to do, this movie is worth while to watch. It looked like the film uses an English movies background score. Jyothirmayi in an item number with a small skirt on was just sad. It's not good to see a talented actress like her do item numbers like this. Some of the scenes remind people of the English movie 'bourne ultimatum'. Mohanlal didn't show a lot of expression in this film, which doesn't impress a lot of people. Its very rare to see him without a lot of expression, maybe its because of the character. The film doesn't justify to original movie 'Irupatham Noottandu'. Even though, they been saying its not the second part of that movie and they only took the character's name from the movie. Overall, The movie doesn't have an originality, but like i said if you are a great Mohanlal fan go ahead and watch it.

This movie is fully loaded with style and action. Dialogue presentation are extraordinary. This is also one of the big budget movies in Malayalam and the biggest hits in the Malayalam film industry. And the Director of the movie is a well known cinematographer in the Indian film industry. And this is his second venture as a director. And this has been a great success. Initial collection was a record breaker in the Malayalam industry. The versatile actor Mohanlal is the prime reason behind the success of this movie. It is a part sequel of a mega hit movie in Malayalam released in 1987. And the actor who have been a Super star since then still continues after 2 decades into this movie.

i rated it only 8 due to the inefficiency in scripting. It is the only disappointing factor in the movie. Beside that, the movie is 100% entertaining. Go for it if u search for entertainment.
