I am sad to see a lot of 1/10 reviews. Yes, this series is not for everyone as it is extremely negative with no hope. Also, S2 some episodes feel a bit slow moving. This is a classic Prakash Jha make with no less. Also, there was no closure at the end of S2 so that pissed a lot of people off. Bobby Deol and the entire cast was fantastic. For those who are not able to digest it, this represents baba, politicians, rich, and the current state. Sad but true.
Prakash Jha 👍 No doubt...very nice series, well directed..Bobby deol is blasting...kya bat hai..chandan is also very nice ..Waiting for Nxt bomb

The story was known. It's based on the controversial Dharmaguru Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh Insaan. Although the story revolves around Ram Rahim, businesses in the name of religion, and self-destruction in superstition - these are the issues that have given more prominence. More interestingly, the series was directed and produced by renowned Indian filmmaker Prakash Jha. Popular movies like Gangajaal, Apaharan, and Rajneeti was made by him.
The Story and the screenplay were well decorated and established. The production design was pretty good. And the gigantic set reminds me that the producer's name is Prajaksh Jha. Making was quite good. But at the very first episode, I was doubted that truly is this made by Prakash Jha? The first episode hadn't the proper vibe of Prakash Jha. But after that, gradually it became more interesting and worth watching.
Bobby Deol was in the leading role. And he did it quite brilliantly. Bobby was totally sunk into the Baba Nirala character. Another brilliant role has playing very well by Chandan Roy Sanal as Bhopa Swami. Without this character, Baba Nirala's influence became zero. Bhopa is a kind of that character, who was a Saint at Ashram but he also controlled illegal works. Chandan Roy has portrayed even the small details of this character very well.
Darshan Kumar played the role of Ujagar Singh. He acted quite well. However, the one who has noticed a flew in her performance is Adhiti Sudhir in the role of Pammi. I don't know why, but it seems that much better acting was needed for that character. Besides, there nothing much to say about the rest. Everyone has done fairly well. End of the day, I quite enjoyed this series.

This series hasn't shown anything bad about Hinduism..there's no mention of any religion in the story. Hasn't even shown any pictures, altars or made any references to any god.. this is about bitter truth of our society..about blind faith in some so called god man.. watch the show and stop criticizing in the name of religious propaganda.. Hinduism is not so weak that some mere show can bring negativity to it.. stop calling Hinduism a religion..it's a way of life

I have no idea why did they make this season when they have nothing to show. I understand that actors need work and mo ey that's why they are doing worthless things but what about the producer of this series ? Why do they want to waste their money ? This series is nothing but stupidity and that son of Shekhar Suman is only jumping monkey in this season. Why guys why you made this joke.

As a Hindu we have to understand there are these types of baba's eg Ram Rahim.
However, there are many good hindu guruj, who are doing really good work. So those who are watching don't treat all Baba's are like this.
There are fake doctors it doesn't mean all doctors are fake.
Very much engaging story.

Very disappointed with this series. Poor acting skills and dialogue writing and delivery. Poor direction and most scenes are a copy of the Godfather. And a very no subtle peddling of the anti Hindu narrative. Quite disturbing that people still resort back to this propaganda for gaining views and honestly it will bore you to death seeing the expected prejudices and stereotyping.
Started with good concept. As you watch the episode you will realize that many many characters introduced for no reason. Its started good but ended with below expectations.

MX player originals are turning out to be surprisingly entertaining.
I haven't watched a better performance of Bobby's. As a godman he exudes stoic serenity and as a conman he's as sleazy as one can be. He's really gotten into the character. Several new actors performing really well and several veterans giving some of their best performances.
There is sufficient drama and steamy sleaze. Some of the elements of the plot are too simplistic to be true, but then this is not a top grade production in a top grade platform.
I see why many have given negative comments: in today's hyper-nationalistic India, it's difficult for many to see art as art and not get defensive where it's not needed.
Did not enjoy. gave up. i saw a few episodes but i d
did not find the story gripping. i feel a better storyline ehould hv helped.

I thought of binge watching this series as it is made by Prakash Jha. As usual he brings many layers of story line in his work specially regarding politics, beuracracy, and the prevalent culture of Baba business. I feel the story is good and acting by cast are also good but many a times it felt stretched. I would have given it more if writing were a little more crisp and it had not more than 6 episodes. But still a good try!

An average story of a mighty baba...very predictable sequence of events. Makers are just dragging it season after season adding some masala tadka. It should have ended on season 3 itself. Complete waste of time.
Though it lacks the raw and gritty take popularized by Anurag Kashyap and his admirers, Prakash Jha brings a fascinating story of blind faith, it's criminal underpinnings and the sad caste system which still ails our society. After all, he was the director who popularized it all.

It was worth watching the series. Desperately waiting for the Part-2. You get to know the DARK secrets of so called Saints (Dhongi Babas). The makers have said that it is just an imaginable try but we can related all the activities presented in the storyplay in our real society.

Second season is very repetitive. Baba layenge Kranti is a big hammer.. Bobby deol's acting is exceptional. But second season is big dragging. And it was very disappointing that it goes for another season. Did not expect chewing gum from Prakash Jha
As a big fan of Prakash Jha's movies for the last 2 decades, I was waiting for the web series "Aashram" for a while. The web series starts with a complex collage of upper caste-lower cast fights, Political rivalry and inter party politics, Police investigations, MNC's interests, and a mysterious Babaji surrounded by henchmen and an equally mysterious ashram, combining into several subplots. But the main story focuses on a young Dalit girl, a wrestler, who gets a raw deal due to her lower caste background and wants to join the ashram. It is loosely based on "exploits" of the controversial Godman Baba Ram Rahim Singh.
Cinematography is generally good throughout the series. Editing could have been definitely better and the 9 episodes of 40 minutes + duration is a drag. Despite having a very good storyline filled with mystery, I wonder why Prakash Jha started to shoot the series with such a boring & dull Screenplay. Acting is generally below par overall. Aashram is a classic example of overconfidence and laziness, resulting in overall mediocracy. There are too many subplots running within and the main story looses focus often. Ear jarring music and dated songs add to further woes.
Unlike Prakash Jha's movies Aashram is a damp squib, the web series is very weak and borderline boring throughout. There are only a handful moments which deserves attention. Aashram might resemble several other shows on MX player. If one likes those shows available on MX player, chances are you might like this one too. Overall, the web series is boring throughout the 7 hour run time, watch it only when u have nothing else to do.

Season 1 and 2 is really good but Season 3 is bit slow. I have seen the realty (With bit masala) shown in this series from quite near (I was not a follower :)). This series is a must watch so that people can learn about our real culture rather than getting sucked up by false beliefs. I don't understand how people cant see that the BABA's they follow always travel in luxury cars and there followers are just busy in so called "SEVA". The characters in this series have done Nice job. Although some things can be improved but that is part and parcel of any Series. Keep up the good work. There are still many more BABAS to cover. Keep on digging and finding the great content.
