Universal Pictures has moved back the release date for DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek 5 from December 23, 2026, to Wednesday, June 30, 2027. Before the December 2026 date, the fifth installment was previously scheduled for a July 1, 2026, release.

It’s worth noting that the new release date is just five days after Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 25, 2027. Universal’s release of Illumination’s The Untitled Illumination Event Film will also move from June 30, 2027, to Friday, April 16, 2027, taking the place of another untitled Universal event film.

The actress has reunited with the streaming giant and signed on to star in Bad Day, an action comedy to be directed by Jake Szymanski, who helmed the well-regarded comedy series Jury Duty as well as Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

The project has been described as a comedic version of Falling Down, the 1993 drama directed by Joel Schumacher that starred Michael Douglas as a man who hits his breaking point while trying to get to his daughter’s birthday party.

In addition to watching The Holiday every year, wishing I could be one of Charlie’s Angels, and firmly believing that My Best Friend’s Wedding has one of the best openings of all time (I hope I got “Wishin’ and Hopin’” stuck in your head), I also think Bad Teacher and The Other Woman are both criminally underrated comedic gems, am a staunch defender of 2014 Annie, and think they should make as many Shrek movies as they want, thank you very much. Needless to say, I was pumped when I found out she was coming out of retirement after over a decade. I’m still excited that she’s back in action (pun definitely intended), but man, I wish she had returned in a better film.

The 52-year-old Bad Teacher actress made a surprise appearance at Elle’s 2024 Women in Hollywood celebration on Tuesday (November 19) held at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Cameron donned a shimmering black top with a coordinating black skirt as she helped honor Emilia Pérez stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, and Zoe Saldaña.

The Lego Group has enlisted directors Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins and Joe Cornish to helm a trio of live-action movies for Universal Pictures.

Plot details of the three untitled movies are yet to be revealed, but the filmmakers behind each project have been announced. All three films will be produced by the Lego Group’s Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians.

Kasdan will direct from a script written by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. The project is based on an original idea and previous draft by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. Kasdan will also produce the film with Melvin Mar under their Detective Agency banner.

Jenkins will direct from a script she co-wrote with Geoff Johns, reteaming after they co-wrote “Wonder Woman 1984” (with Dave Callaham). Jenkins will produce the movie through her Wicious Pictures.
