Genuinely good sketch comedy shows are very very rare and trying to compare every one of them to Chappelle's Show is just an impossible bar to set. That being said, even Chappelle's Show had a few bits that didn't land either, it's just that it had more hits than misses and the high points were some all time greats.
So no, That Damn Michael Che isn't the next Chappelle's Show, but it's better than any other sketch comedy show I've seen since. It often feels like they forgot how to make a good sketch comedy seen since it and Little Britain finished back in the mid-2000s. This is the first sketch comedy series I've found since that gave me some regular moments where I would crack up laughing at some of the bits. I also like the way that some of the bits continue through the entire episode.
Well done Michael Che, I hope there are a few more series left in the tank.

Yet the show is consistently 80% awful, juvenile and often downright lame. It confuses me why there is such great talent and great writers - this show and 'I Think You Should Leave' are the 2 best examples of how great ideas, great writing and great execution make for a great show. I worried that this might not be consistent, onlyb ecause I was howling laughing through the first episode but it really maintains the great writing - and it's so great seeing the comedians featured.

Really enjoyed season one! Season two is on a whole nother (level). Laughed to tears completely until my ribs hurt! Took me back to the days of Richard played real low on album in the basement with friends till our laughter gave us up.
Theme alone is a very funny spoof. In the under currents it is great comedy! Che is hitting on a lot of issues all at once but with the wit that true comedians have and give us to move thru today's social storms.

A fantastic, creative take on political America. Michael Che's personal opinions are the center of the show, and it is very remeniscint of his stand up.

Seeing mainstream guy not being pro left is refreshing. The show is 7, gave it an 8 though =) also shout out to my man Chris DiStefano, he had a vibe of Bill Burr in Chapelle Show.

If you have dry, off hand humor, this show will be funny to you. If you're kind of uptight & prefer fluffy humor, you won't. Like... these reviews were so dramatic lol but it's actually funny. This isn't SNL, this is specific to michael che. He made it clear that he has a dry sort of humor so idk why you'd expect anything different from HIS OWN SHOW. I laugh on every episode & i don't feel it's a ripoff of the chappelle show. I like dave chappelle too but michael che is his own comedian. Comparison is a thief of enjoyment!

Michael Che does a half hour comedy show dealing with real world issues and with his style of sardonic humor to outlandish levels.
I know Michael Che only from SNL. I don't watch his standup. Still, I get his sense of humor and this show is all him. At least, it has his brand of comedy. I don't know how much of his life he's using. It is serious with the material but he spins it with wild humor. It lasted two seasons of only six episodes each. The obvious comparison is Atlanta or Chapelle. This is not quite up to that level. It is not as artistic as Atlanta or as hilarious as Chapelle. It is still very good.

I rarely watch SNL so I didn't really know Michael Che well. I saw him with Seth Meyers on his show and I was convinced to check out this series. Glad I did.
I like that each episode has a recurring theme that they play around with like jazz improvisation. I'm on episode 3 as I write this and I've already laughed out loud (Yes, you can actually write that all the way out) several times. What would be mind-bogglingly absurd for most people (Whites, and anyone living where I do in Europe) is somehow routine for American Blacks-like taking the train to the hospital after a gunshot wound because the ambulance is too expensive.
"Know what I'm saying?" It's more like a comma. Now I know.

Pretty much a modern Chappelle show and it's hilarious. We needed this right now for comedy. Comedians are the ones that might get us through the woke cancel culture.

If you don't like this you're prolly an easily offended flake! This show is like the modern Chappell show just with more jokes on both sides. You're just a square if you don't like this show.

I didnt quite enjoy him the first few seasons I watched him on SNL, thought he didn't have great delivery, but he grew on me, I now consider him top 3 WU anchors next to Norm and Seth.
This show was funny, it has exactly my kind of humor, and while I consider it to be funny, I think what really defines it is clever. I love everything about this, from Che's performance and how he shows us his thoughts on topical stuff to the great supporting cast (Kevin was hilarious as were the cameos from SNL alumni like Cecily Strong, Heidi Gardner and specially Colin Quinn, who I hope can become a semi regular if this gets more seasons).

Some of these sketches brought me to tears crying in laughter. The bits relate to each other, and the episode theme just keeps getting funnier and funnier.

I absolutely loved this show and binge-watched it in one sitting. Hilarious! It also provides a fresh perspective on things right now using really funny cutaway sketches.
I couldn't make it past the third episode. A thoroughly repugnant show that is neither funny nor original. Everything from the jokes to the ideas seem stale and recycled.

If you like comedy, I think you'll love that damn Michael Che. Starts off with relationship stuff. Then fame, race (done funny) and other stuff. I liked his complete lack of trying to spin anything about himself. Lines like: "We did some research into your personal life..."
"Oh no, lol. I was hoping you guys wouldn't do this.."
"And we didn't find anything."
Self-roasting gone mad, in the best way. It's more common to see guys and others like Che honestly telling it like it is for black folks now. But this guy brings SNL firepower to the game in the mellowest way. Damn funny if you ask me. Y.
