Pretty good but...

I really like this anime. Its just a ton of fun and all the openings are absolute bangers. My only complaints about this anime so far are the CGI in the later episodes (especially the most recent one as of writing this) and the lack of Kumoko in the later episodes. I'm watching this anime for Kumoko and not the other "main" characters. They aren't very interesting in my opinion so when we get to their parts in the anime, its not as good and gets kinda slow at times. But I do understand why there isn't as much Kumoko considering that the Voice Actor Aoi Yuki, is also working on 'I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level' at the same exact time as this anime so huge probs to her lol. Other than that, I think this anime is a pretty fun watch so far and I can't wait for the newest episodes.

So underrated

I've read both the novel for reincarnated as a slime and so in a spider so what but I think they did a better job animating it in this one.

By the way most isekai anime comes from a free novel site where normal people can publish their stories so it is normal most is them have a lot in common.

REMOVE THE CGI EFFECT

Fun to watch, interesting fight scenes - with the Spider. Last 5 episodes though kinda off, the CGI just makes it so hard to watch, it's frustrating - that nearly made me stop and discontinue watching.

If you like reincarnated as a slime, then you'll like this

It's what the title says. Normally don't rate shows underway (14 episodes in), but so far a 9 is is the enjoyment I got out of it.

Wonder if it can possibly get better this season...

Animation is not bad. Similar to reincarnated as a slime.

Finished episode 4. Animation is not so bad as the reviews make it out to be. Definitely have seen worse.

It so far is pretty similar to Reincarnated as a slime and isekai, were mc gets reincarnated as a weak monster and the world is video-game like. Looking to see how mc progresses, and hopefully becomes op.

Entertaining and Funny

As I read on a previous review. I don't think is as bad as the IMDB score make it out to be . As up to now on the 4 episode the IMDB score was 7.1, I personally gave it an 8, is funny and a little weird, but is entertaining. Without going into any spoiler, love the spider character, fast talker, fast thinker and funny. Estrange, but also love the end credit animation especially the punk rock part. I use IMDB a lot, usually I rank about the same as IMDB users, that's why I thrust it so much, but once in a wile I have to disagree and this is one of those times. Just finished episode 5, I'm still holding on to my 8 rate.

Better Than Average Isekai

This anime has potential. Season 1 is overall somewhat entertaining. Not having read the manga, I'm hoping Season 2 will get better.

The good: It has moments that are not your typical isekai trope, which I liked.

The bad: It still has too many moments that are your standard fare isekai stuff - that is to say, it's a bit predictable and boring.

Do not get fooled by the comical storyline

This anime begins like your usual isekai anime. The only difference is that; after the first 2 episodes, you might fall for the comedy story line since the main character is very funny and hilarious. But the story is very deep, very mysterious, and dark. Is been a while since I saw an isekai anime with a well written plot. However, the storyline of the humans in the anime was poorly written. It was a little boring and full of clichés. I believe if that part of the storyline was written much better, it would have sent the anime past a milestone. According to light novel readers, many important aspects of the original light novel were removed from the anime and this affected the human storyline. Also, the animation regresses after episode 14. Personally, I did not have a problem with that.

Great anime, at first. Too much character and the story too slow

I was gonna give this a perfect 10 at first, but it gets boring and they neglect the MC since the middle in season 1, and it started getting bad.

How come they leave the MC in some of the episodes, and there's too many character that they change scenes between 25 characters like a dozens times in each episode.

In the middle of the season, they started to neglect the MC, too slow on story, and the MC too much talking and thinking that giving me a headache every second, and the MC began to underestimate her enemy and too careless and too dumb, and her friends is too childish and dumb and have a big ego.

THE WORST PART IS, why it took 4 episodes of fighting scenes between a country, and the MC friends, it should took 1 episode, oh and btw the MC get reincarnated with 25 of her friends, but she never reunited with her friends across all 24 episodes (the whole season), even though her friends already reunited with other friends since episode 1.

The Spider is Best!

So, I'm a Spider, So What? (anime series 24 episodes.) A classroom full of high school students are killed by a bomb and reincarnated into another world. All are reincarnated as humans except for a dragon, an elf, and a big Spider who is the main character. The spider begins in a labyrinth while the others find themselves in a kingdom that looks to be from the middle ages.

The show is best when focused on the adventures of the spider who is hilarious, and less so when focused on the others who are being trained for conflict. In the final episodes, the show takes the course of all-out war and a final conflict. Though not a cliffhanger, it does setup future adventures. The end theme for the first dozen shows is a hoot!

pretty good, has pacing issues

Overall, not bad! Totally watchable. And pretty interesting premise considering all the other isekai animes out there. The animation is good too with a good bit of action.

The main problem i've seen is pacing. I have found myself fast forwarding multiple times to get past boring, unnecessary scenes, or even something that they already mentioned previously but brought up again.

I also have one more complaint, if you watch the japanese version, the MC (spider) has a really shrill voice that gets annoying. She's constantly squealing. There are also episodes that barely mention whats going on with the spider.

But overall, pretty fun watch, with a handful of episodes which is nice when most anime out there are only 12 episodes.

Imitation

"So I'm a Spider" is much like reincarnated a slime, in fact the whole first episode is almost parallel down to the last detail. The only thing that differs the two from one another is that this anime is about a spider and the other is about a slime. Other than that it's a pretty interesting anime and I'm curious to see how the story develops over time. This is one of those relaxing anime's that you can watch to either pass time or take a break from what you normally watch. The main character can be a little annoying though, the voice acting could definitely be a lot better but overall it's a good anime and would recommend.

Great anime!

It's a great anime, but it strikes me more as a joking/goofy anime more than anything. It would fit well with Saiki. K, and One Punch Man. The main character is a spider, whose name when she was a human was Wakaba. Wakaba and 11 others died and were reincarnated, however none only she was turned into a "monster". Although she doesn't know how she died, or how she was reincarnated, she figures she better just try to adapt to her new abilities. Whilst doing this she exhausts herself, nearly dying, but with pure willpower she overcomes her fear and disgust of eating what she brought "just in case". As she bites what she brought she gained more strength.

Carried by Aoi Yuki

I really enjoyed this show and honestly I wasn't bothered to much by the CGI as it was good for the most part.

The premise of the show is really simple. You have a group of students that are reborn into a new world as different people/creatures. The main character becomes a spider voiced by Aoi Yuki.

And I really have to say that Kumoko (our main character) is the one carrying the show because of how good the voice actress does her job. She also is the singer of both ending songs and they are both also amazing (I really love the second ending).

The writing is pretty solid when it comes down to what Kumoko does. Unfortunately the other characters and stories are a bit boring but they are necessary for world building and to drive the story forward. This show has 24 episodes in season one and I had a lot of fun watching them even with the weaker episodes that centered around the side characters.

I'd really love to see a season 2 as season 1 left us on a big cliffhanger.

One thing I need to mention is that towards the last few episodes there are some issues with pacing and the animation. My guess is that they ran into budget issues. Still in my opinion it doesn't damage the overall experience and that is a pretty wild ride...

A mesmerizing journey

"Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" is a captivating isekai anime that follows the reincarnation of a high school girl into a tiny, spider-like creature in a fantasy world. With its unique premise and entertaining plot, the anime manages to keep viewers engaged throughout its episodes. The main character's struggle to survive in her new form and her journey to gain strength is both endearing and intriguing to watch.

The series successfully blends humor and action, making it a delightful watch for fans of isekai and fantasy genres. The spider's growth and development, coupled with her witty and sarcastic inner monologues, add depth to the story and offer a refreshing take on the isekai genre.

However, despite its strengths, "Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" does suffer from some pacing issues. At times, the story can feel slow, and certain plotlines may seem less engaging compared to others. Additionally, the sheer number of characters and the complexity of the world-building might be overwhelming for some viewers, making it harder to connect with all the different aspects of the story.

Overall, "Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" is an enjoyable anime that offers a fresh perspective on the isekai genre. While it has its flaws, its humor, action, and character development make it worth a watch for fans of fantasy and adventure.

thrilling, creative, engaging, cute, hilarious, zero-to-hero isekai

Honetly, imdb has this show at a 6.7 and I am confused.

Sure, Isekai's are being churned out at an alarming rate, sure, there's at least several coming out at the same time, sure, the anime isn't as good as the manga, (ill get back to this)

but really though this show is delightful. Its thrilling, creative, engaging, cute and hilarious. Its the only show I managed to even find a will to actually follow this season (aside from attack on titan), but not only did I follow this one, I went off and read the manga.

I gave it an 8. but I enjoy it like a 9.

back to the manga, which is important because the anime took a different route and added all this content about the other characters aside from the protagonist and well its dreadful. I get why they are doing it, but honestly I would rather watch a stripped version of the show without them. Its stealing time from the main character who is a precious sparkling gem.

This show reminds me of "Bofuri: I dont want to get hurt...", its cute and charming, zero-to-hero isekai power gaming. Though obviously there are difference but I love them both so much so.

I could go off about some later spoilers to help sell it which would be worth it, but ill say instead, the game mechanics are more than just cool (and broken) but very interesting, they lead to truly fascinating ideas and concepts. The show also has a few philosophical elements.

Enjoy : )

Much better than I expected

I expected a comedy anime with a simple plot. And while the first few episodes start out like most other isekai, the story suddenly grows in complexity and begins to be presented in a non-linear way. If Game of Thrones and Westworld mated and had a child anime, this would be it.

So many twists...

Despite being a comedy "So I'm a Spider" is no farce. It takes its characters and its world seriously.

The setup is standard Isekai. A high school classroom randomly explodes killing everyone and reincarnating them into another world.

It takes the more interesting route of reincarnating everyone as babies, memory intact, and then having them grow up in their new world. And it does a good job with this. It's one of the few Isekia's that does a Trans character correctly. And most of the side characters have something going on.

The main character's arc is based on "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime." Only it sticks with spider theme throughout the show rather than quickly allowing the MC to take human form.

However, it twists so much it gets tangled into knots. The main plot is hard to make sense of and heavily relies on withholding information from the viewer. By the end, if you stop to think about it, you see too many plot holes to ignore. Most are of the "it didn't make sense for that person to have taken that action" variety.

Eventually, I stopped trusting the show, which was a shame. That and it's a little battle heavy at times. But it's nice to see someone actually trying to make serious show with a consistent world, and it's a bonus that it's also a comedy.

I am another basic isekai so what.

This show is just boring. If you have watched any isekai before you've probably seen this one as. The only real thing they do differently here is that it's a spider which isn't very interesting when a much better show has someone turning into a slime. Your not missing much by not watching this. Also the comedy in this show is kinda basic and kiddy. One scene is literally just the MC saying dancing over and over again. The Mc's voice is also just very annoying. I really wanted to rip off my ears which is terrible since there isn't a single scene where they aren't talking. Seriously just watch That time I got reincarnated as a slime. It's infinitely better.

So I'm a Spider, So What?

This anime series opens in a high school classroom but doesn't stay there long; something happens killing those inside and they are reincarnated in another world. Most of them find themselves together but one girl finds herself deep in a dangerous dungeon layer; she isn't even human anymore... she is a spider. She quickly learns that for her it is a spider eat spider world, quite literally. If she is turn survive she must rapidly learn skill and raise her level. She defeats a variety of creatures and gradually evolves from one of the weakest creatures in this world to something really powerful. Most of the series is centred on her but it occasionally shows us what is happening to the other characters as they face their own dangers, sometimes from their former classmates.

I really enjoyed this series; there have been a load of series about characters reincarnated into video game like worlds lately but this shows there is still room for more; I'd rate this amongst the most fun in the genre. Our protagonist is a lot of fun and her endless monologues are rather funny. Her various conflicts also provide some great action scenes. This unfortunately makes things seem less fun when the focus shifts to other characters, even though their story isn't boring I kept wanting the action to return to the spider. There have been complaints about the animation quality; while it might fall off in some episodes it was never bad enough to distract me from my enjoyment. Overall I'd definitely recommend this series to anime fans; I hope we get another season.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
