This series aired on Irish Language broadcaster TG4 in September through October 2007. It covers 6 of the most notorious gangsters - Owney Madden, Michael "King Mike" McDonald, Dion O'Bannion, Jack "Legs" Diamond, Danny Greene and John "Cockeye" Dunne. What was most revealing was how these Irish guys were the precursor to the Italian mob rise to power. However, one of the main items that came through strongly from the series was that the Irish were more a dis-Organised Crime outfit often fighting with each other rather than a common enemy.

The series was the debut for new director David Keane and has been re-commissioned for a second run of 6 more notorious bad boys of ore recent years.

The series has been Nominated for an Irish Oscar (Irish Film And Television Academy Award), the results of which will be known on February 17th 2008.
