Just because a movie has an interesting title doesn't mean that the movie itself will be interesting. And that was the case with the 2021 horror movie "Diavlo" (aka "The Devil's Child").
I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this horror movie from writer and director David Bohorquez by random luck, and with it being a new horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to take the time to sit down and watch it, even without knowing what the movie was about.
And while I managed to endure the entire ordeal to the end, then "Diavlo" just offered very little entertainment to me, and it was very difficult to get submerged into the rather mundane and boring storyline as it was just so unfathomably slow paced. Actually, the storyline was lacking interesting elements to it, so it was a struggle to get through this 2021 horror movie.
Visually then there were definitely some interesting aspects to "Diavlo", but it wasn't never anything that managed to more than just poke at the embers. A shame really, because the movie would have benefitted tremendously if it had more contents visually and story-wise.
The acting in "Diavlo" were adequate, but the actors and actresses were rather hindered by an inferior script and a bland character gallery. So they were fighting a somewhat uphill battle.
For a horror movie then "Diavlo" was just not outstanding or memorable, and it was a movie that came and went without as much as a groan or a bite. And this movie will slowly fade into the mists of oblivion and never come back out for a second viewing.
My rating of "Diavlo" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

Who the hell green lit this crap. Lol Not good. The effects was the best part of the movie.
The Devil's Child (2021) is a Colombian horror movie that I recently watched on Tubi. The storyline follows a nurse that is hired to take care of an old man in a remote, desolate house. Something inside the house causes her to have flashbacks of her traumatic childhood that is somehow tied to the spirits within the house...
This movie is written and directed by David Bohorquez (The Banished) and stars Francisca Estevez (Promising Young Woman), Fiona Horsey (Narcos) and Marvens Passiano.
This is a very average to below average movie in just about every way. The horror elements are lacking, the settings aren't as creepy as hoped, the acting is mediocre as is the writing and dialogue. There are some cool camera angles and worthwhile cinematography.
Overall, this is a below average addition to the horror genre with little to no memorable sequences. I would score this a 2/10 and recommend skipping it.

OMG!!! Can you say BORING, SLOW, STUPID, TEDIOUS and NO STORY LINE what so ever??? If you watch this dreck, you will. Only good thing was the creepy old house. This could have been ok as a 15 min short, how did they get the money to make it 1 1/2 hours long? Your guess is as good is mine. Skip IT.
Slow paced, odds and ends scattered without and could do with some sort of.... something else.
I've got 15 minutes left. So shoot me for reviewing quickly. But.... If it had been a low budget maybe, if you're lucky, 3 part series, you might have gotten away with the appalling thing as a whole.
The storyline is misshapen, odd and I suppose in a way generic.
The overall delivery of the storyline is poor and at best will make you laugh.
It could have been good as a theory, unfortunately the delivery was a super let down.
I'm not commenting on the acting per say but the way in which it was thought to be portrayed to the audience was...bland confusing and dull.
I've had more fun with a blank puzzle.
